With the recent seminar, Carlos mentioned that tohaa don't get their sectorial this year (GUYS WTF?!) Last year we got the sukeul and neema sartaa (aside from repacks). What do you think will we get this year? They can't give us nothing right? My hope is on the taquel. What soothes me a little, is the mentioning of creating alien sculpts from scratch. THIS CB, is the reason I started tohaa. The symbiobeasts and mates and bombs. What do you think will this year give us for surprises?
I am also excited for the wacky new alien sculpts, and I will continue being exited until 2019 onward. I can't expect Taquel because then i'll be disappointed, but I can hope. Other than that maaaaybe filling out missing profiles? Idk I won't be surprised if we only see a couple more repacks all year.
Things look really grimm, I don't expect more than four releases (max, probably just three) through the year. If we are lucky, we might finally get the HMG Sukeul, and CB might use already 3D sculpted models to fill in missing profiles. So yeah, things are bad and the future looks worse. Time to buy missing blisters/boxes to complete the collection or to start another faction (remember, 5 new sectorials this year, it's a good marketing plan to release nothing for the least played faction so we start a new one). P.S.: Yeah, regarding repacks I think we will get Kosuil, Gao-Tarsos and Kotail repacks. What a wonderful year.
Yeah not the year for Tohaa though they're in a good place at the moment. Just have a Tohaa vs Tohaa top table match at Cancon in Australia so I think they're okay. I'm not sure what else Carlos could've done. I think it's not ideal to say that nothing will be coming. At least give some hope or be adaptive if there is demand to change/release something a bit more. I feel the lack of demand for Tohaa is also fueled by the lack of releases as well as being the smallest faction. On one hand I see what CB is trying to do in build upon their success as a business. On the other I feel that Tohaa are not being given the chance to really expand and develop as an in depth faction. I would like to see CB give them a chance and release more things. A limit to triads in Vanilla perhaps to allow sectorials to be more appealing? With enough diversity vanilla tohaa could eventually become like other vanilla factions though that may not be something that CB or players want either... Definitely want more releases though.
don't mind too much if they take their time and do the minis/books/ whatnot right. gives me some time to get the rest i don't already have in my collection and figure out how to use 'em before new stuff drops. (a pain being the only player in my area actively using them for the last year, but soon to change so i'll have someone to compaire notes with) -Rom
we were in strong discussion in warcor forums too, about this subject. look at the information below. since july17. ( july-august-september-october-november-december-january-february and now march) there is only one blister for tohaa. Neema. In the same period, lets see what other factions have. nomads - taskmasters(box) - morlocks(box) - szalamandra(tag) - moderators swc(box) and beautiful zoe-piwell box now haqqislam - hashasin bahram starter set(box) - muyips(box) - druze(box) - ayyar - asawira on the way pano - locust - jean darc - crusader brethen- baghmari hmg-knights hospitallers(box)- ferzen-orcs coming yujing - shikami- kanren-kuangshi(box)-shikami ariadna- intel specops- caledonian volunteers(box)- caledonian starter (box)- 3rd highlander-irmandinho- now an other blackjack coming and direfoes combined army- pneumarch-umbra spitfire-avatar(tag)-bit/kiss (box)- nexus operator hacker- chronotid now kurgat and direfoes box aleph - andromeda - throkitai swc box - danavas_karkata-garruda shotgun in 2016 and 2017 we had kaauris ( which have s1 - s2 problem ), kerail ( which no symbiont on), copy pasted sukeuls. i am told by several friends that i am confusing tohaa with the real factions and tohaa had been designed as a sectorial army and will only get a support like sectorial armies. i dont want to give any comments. just wanted to share with you the list of models produced to give an idea. 2018 will be a calm year for tohaa and we will see only a few releases.
Wow, looking at it together it is worse than I remembered. By the way, CB never stated that Tohaa is a Sectorial, it has always been considered a Faction in every medium (books, Army, interviews, seminars...).
This year we will get an updated profile for Aelis which will hopefully make her feel like we are getting a new unit. We will be getting the general release of the Cube Jager at the end of the year. Other than that I agree with Abrilete that repacks will be what we see. There is a small chance that we could see a Taqeul sometime later in the year to keep Tohaa players from completely revolting. There will never be a year of Tohaa ever. The last time we supposedly had one other factions still got more releases. I think what it boils down to is that CB doesn't want to a crappy job with the Tohaa, but are having trouble coming up with a completely unique look and rules for new Tohaa units. It's a whole lot easier to just make more humans. I'm pretty sure that is why we get things like Symbiomates to keep us wanting to stick with the faction despite the lack of releases. It also forces us to jump into other factions to get our new miniature fix...(I've now dipped my toe into Nomads, Combined Army, PanOceania, and Druze) But on the positive side if you are on a budget and are looking for a cheap army to buy, Tohaa is the army for you!
Triumvirate go into design later this year so will make the book next year. Guess we can hope for taquel until then
As I was one of the people pointing it out in the Warcor thread, Tohaa were are and are considered to be equivalent to a Sectorial by CB. It's how the force was designed and is why they generally only have one or two units in a given role and overall have a smaller range than the other 'main' factions.
It's just a shame this was never advertised enough. That would've helped with managing expectations - for example when I got USARF, I didn't expect it updated more than a couple of times a year. But I know it's a sectorial, so I don't mind, I signed up for this when buying into the Faction. There was no such feeling with Tohaa. Actually, the lack of releases and Tohaa being the FOTM OP army, I'm thinking its time to retire them and sell them off. Which is a shame, but hey, games are supposed to be fun, and rehashing the same lists for 2 years is kinda boring.
Tohaa look, feel and play like a sectorial. Getting upset about them getting only a few releases, just like other sectorials was always going to be disappointing. The way CB release schedule works, if you only play a single sectorial its going to be a pretty slow burn. It means you can easily rotate between a few sectorials or factions. It does suck that Tohaa doesn't have a parent faction... but thats part of its uniqueness.
As mentioned, Cancon was this past weekend. 69 players and the top table match was Tohaa vs. Tohaa. Clearly we're fine. More releases would be great, but it's not like we're even slightly bad. Personally, I just have a side faction. Combined. So when the Triumvirate comes out, I'm good to just play it. Bam.
Is that direct from the Ministry of Truth? Because I can pull up an article of Gutier talking about a Chaksa sectorial, and another article of Gutier talking about a Triumvirate sectorial. Unless you are saying that sectorials were and are supposed to get their own sectorials. In which case I'm curious about the Druze Bayram Security Sectorial sectorial in 2020.
