Yeah... is a Lupe + 4 Jaguar, Massacre + Dak + Jag that bad though? I mean Raktoraks in Gaki cores seems more broken from a design POV. That being said, I do find it funny that, provided it's valid, you can do a Jag core + Jag Haris but not with Wildcats: MI are just too strong it seems.
First of all, it is not legal :) You can go on with an existing crusade FT if it was reduced to 4-2 members but was not broken, but you cannot ever form it without Jeanne and exactly 4 Knights Hospitallers (or units that can be count as those). The difference lies in "counts as" and "can join". To replace Massacre a unit must be allowed to be counted as Massacre. Then it's OK. But if it "can join" then there should exist anything to join and without Senor Massacre a Jaguar FT does not exist. But as the exact wording is not yet revealed it's better just wait couple of days. Wildcards are finicky and differ between sectorials.
Here is what I would want to try, provided that Massacre can be Substituted from the Core: Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) LUPE BALBOA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Panzerfaust, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 23) JAGUAR Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 10) JAGUAR Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 10) JAGUAR Light Shotgun, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, E/M CCW. (0 | 13) INTRUDER HMG, Grenades / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 42) INTRUDER (X-Visor) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 43) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) REAKTION ZOND HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26) TOMCAT Engineer Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) GROUP 2 4 1 BANDIT (Forward Observer) Light Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 23) ALGUACIL Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 10) ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) JAGUAR Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 10) VALERYA GROMOZ Hacker (Hacking Device UPGRADE: Expel) Combi Rifle + Pitcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army To me that 0 SWC Core link looks like a great change to get two SWC weapon Intruders on the table and support them with smoke. After the Intruders take out the long range AROs, the link gets to move freely, do the mission and wipe up enemy midfield presence. Seems like a fun alternative to the Intruder + McMurder Combo.
I think it's a mistake to assume that Wildcards can replace characters that are required to form a "whatever" fireteam. Didn't the Massacre requirement for the Jaguar Core get introduced in HSN3?
Given that's how they work every other time they've been used (compare Druze/IA/Varuna/MAF vs Tunguska/StarCo) I don't think it's a mistake to assume that. But I'm equally not relying on it for anything specific.
I'm not saying that isn't the way it's supposed to be played, but I think it's too early to jump to that conclusion. Also, the character requirements seem to be about balancing/restricting certain Fireteams, and allowing Wildcards to replace them could throw all that out the window.
You mean like allowing Raktoraks into Gaki links changed the balance? I'm saying that it's perfectly reasonable to conclude that it works the same as previous versions of Wildcard. We'll see whether it's an accurate conclusion later. :)
Well, I've never played against Morats, or CA for that matter, so no comment on that. I also thought that the only way to link Hospitallars was with Joan, but that is not the case. So the only "character required" fireteams I can think of are the Jags and Wallace's fireteams. Unless I'm remembering the latter incorrectly as well.
If you could bench Massacre in favor of a daktari, I think it would be a net improvement for the Jaguar link.
Hell yeah it's better! Let those Jags go Dogged and then heal em back up before the turn ends. And you save 12 points, minimum!
Not really: Once activated, this state prevents the trooper from being healed by Special Skills or Equipment such as Doctor, AutoMediKit, MediKit, Regeneration...).
Even if you could heal Dogged Jaguars, V: Dogged also makes the unit go straight to the Dead State at the end of the active turn, so a Daktaris doesn't really combo with that.
That's how my group feels about losing the Sogorat Haris. Also between stricter links and the CC and SWC increases it does feel like they pre-nerfed a lot of MI.
You may be correct about legality, but I doubt that your point about joining fireteam that took a loss is valid. I was under impression that the only way to add a unit to a fireteam (unless that unit was kicked from it on a previous turn) is to cancel it entirely and then form it again, with a new memeber. At which point rules on forming it from scratch apply, I believe.
I don't see why *wildcard* can't replace a named character. There is a concept of *counts as* which does exactly that, limits what the troop can replace.
