When you have all of the profiles and all of the options for the new troops, it would be possible to make that assessment. However, you don't. You have a single list. Is your upset at major changes in your primary army justified? Certainly. Does the level of upset that comes across in your messages? Debatable. And yes, I know, nothing anyone says here is going to modify your opinion nor mollify you in an way. Still, making judgments with out all of the information does appear to be mildly short sighted.
I think it is worth pointing out that the Sukeul HMG does not exist as a model, so you are already proxying it with something at this time. Of this list only Makaul are the more difficult to represent on the table well. You can find no use for a 16 point unit with Breaker Combi, Counter Intellegence, Holo Lvl 1 in Vanilla Tohaa? Or an Impersonator with a Viral Pistol? Or a unit with FD level 2, 6-2 move and Minelayer? Or a High Wound unit with great CC abilities? Or a unit with unlimited use of Eraser and Mirror ball? Frankly I am not sure what you were expecting if you cannot find a use for all of these models in Vanilla, (I am with you on the Reex though, I am not sure they bring much to Vanilla).
I play Tohaa, I'm affected so I will comment. Current changes are only good for me. I've got all Tohaa army entries and now I'll have a lot more options. I think that at least some of new units will find their place in vanilla. I'm really happy about Schemers, Impersonator and Saboteurs but I will gladly test everything else before making any strong statements.
I build my own out of a Sukeul, a Gao Tarsos and a Kamael. One moment please, will make a picture. Edit:
I certainly am effected, I've been maining Tohaa since N2 and other than spikes with hsn3 the army has been fairly static. Tohaa are about to get a big chunk of new toys on a scale that hasn't happened since their original release. As an existing player it makes little to no impact, the last impactful Tohaa release was the Sukeul years ago. I can't imagine that vanilla Tohaa players will notice much change until further down the line and Cb need to decide if maintaining profiles for models they don't make is a sensible use of resources.
Sry, you are right, there is missing the ATM and a dot. The only good addition I can see atm is the KRIIGEL. Possible valuable, depending on loadout and rules are the TAAGMA and the KIUUTAN. TAAGMA if he brings the 5 men link bonus into vanilla. And for a finally statement for the KIUUTAN is the rule of Inferior Impersonation missing. If it's only IMP2 state against other armies I see no use for my playstyle.
Or, alternatively, they could have had statements ready to go from the outset. This shouldn't be coming as a surprise to them. This is exactly what happens each time they have done this and yet we are the ones who have to "have patience" or "have faith"?
To be fair in this instance they have told us whats going on via a widely promoted video and clarified in the forums that discontinued does not mean repackaged. It might not be the result everyone wants but I don't think their comms is particularly out of order this time around.
As mentioned, this week is dedicated to these kinds of announcements. This statement could very well exist and already be scheduled. If you don't want to wait for all the information that's up to you.
No, they've just been playing catch up here in the forums. And we still don't actually know what "retiring SKUs" means in any real sense. Does this mean they'll be used for new units? That they have resculpts planned further down the line? Given that we're now three ranges "retired" in and STILL don't have a definitive source of a statement of the rumor that the SKU retired items will be coming back in the future? Seriously, this is common sense stuff. You don't make announcements like this and then just leave it hanging with no real detailed explanation of how the mechanisms are planned to work. That's when people can make crap up or when the negative buzz spreads.
Yeah, this move will further reduce the sale of Tohaa, because why start in the first place? If there was still the option to use Spiral Corp as a start for Tohaa as well I would buy it for sure. But this way.... If I had the money I could try to buy everything now, but as I don't I usually start small and then add what I think is needed. But that will no longer be possible with Tohaa...
Agreed. But isn't this an announcement to the their distributors that was leaked? The actual announcement to the player base that explains the situation and the implications has not happened.
It's ok. You don't find those units good/interesting/whatever. But it doesn't mean that they aren't good/interesting/whatever. I think that some of them will make it to my lists. And stay there.
Bostria went through the list in the latest video, he was pretty clear that, for example, the Sukuels and Makauls are going away so get them before the deadline.
Did we watch different videos? Stating that miniatures will no longer be available in a few months seems pretty clear. Off the back of that some users suggested that they might be repacks and it was clarified that this was not the case. Edit. I think maybe some people maybe haven't seen this.
They released a video today that talks about things--all that leaked was a list of discontinued products which is in the video in question. I saw it. It really doesn't change anything because it doesn't outline anything beyond "These items are going away". If they wanted to do that, they could have just posted the leaked distributor list.
