I think we're all over reacting here, in one way or another. What we should do is calm down and wait for official information... And then we could unleash hell and burn CB to ashes. Cry "havoc!", and let slip the dogs of war !
To be fair, being cut off from the human sphere is as good a reason as any of the factions that have been frenched. Tohaa sales were low, least played faction and good number of sculpts of the old analogue style. I could definitely see tohaa being frenched and the most recent sculpts being kept in spiral to get return on investment
I can't imagine Tohaa getting frenched. Sales were low because there was nothing new worth buying for Tohaa players. I don't need a fourth Clipsos, third Sukeul or second Neema, so why spend money on it? I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of new toys for Vanilla and plenty of reasons for my wallet to cry.
Tohaa space being cut off from the Human Sphere is a pretty big indicator of Vanilla Toha getting reduced into Spiral Corps. Judging from the latest video, the new narrative focus for Tohaa will be that of the isolated remnants within Paradiso and the Human Sphere, which is not too bad imo.
We won't know until we see a few years of no releases for Tohaa again. What we heard in the video is that the main gate to one of the Tohaa systems is gone. That leaves the story open to allow future little known wormholes in other parts of the Human Sphere that might lead to another lesser populated part of Tohaa space. This could lead to some story down the line (years) where the Tohaa make a huge comeback right when their forces and the humans in the Human Sphere need backup against the Combined Army. That is my hope at least. RIght now I am itching to read the new arc in the Tohaa story. I cannot wait to get my hands on the book and the box.
This is what is in the box and some info on the weapon options. 1x Clipsos (Combi Rifle) 3x Reex Escorts (Boarding Shotgun) 2x Draal Saboteurs (AP Marksman Rifle) 1x Taagma Schemer (Combi Breaker Rifle) 1x Kiel-Saan Convert Assault Unit (DA CCW, Shock CCW) 1x Kriigel Agent (Combi Breaker Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher) 1x Kiuutan Imposter (Combi Rifle)
In the unboxing video Carlos shows the "How to Expand" and while he does not expand too much on this (hehe) we can see the chaksas, kumotails and the Kaeltars edit : -Apparently the agent can use pheroware without the need of a Symbiobomb -Yep, we are getting an impersonator -Brawlers in Spiral corps !??!
After watching the unboxing video I am expecting even more Tohaa hate from the Tohaa haters out there.
Espcially since Kaeltars seem to be playable in Spiral Corps. We should know more about it in a few days.
I think it leads to the same interesting question. Why dont they just map other holes to get a round about way back to humanity? Humanity clearly can't map all the holes in a solar system effectively but Tohaa see to be able to as do the Combined. And why hasn't the CA done the same? The Acheron Gate is supposed to be exceedingly unstable and causes very high loss of ships even before the CA reaches the blockage itself. Surely there must be another safer way to get to the Human sphere? Even with JSA they didn't invalidate models though. They may have invalidated some armies but all the individual models were still useful. I would expect to be able to continue to use your models in one way or another. Disclaimer: I know nothing more than you guys though. We'll the map of the human sphere we have mostly just lists Circular routes. But we know that the Triumverate had access to the Dawn system as well as the Paradiso system and those two aren't directly connected. So I'd assume there is at least one other worm hole with access to a human sphere system or the Triumverate have a very solid map of the local wormholes. Presumably more could be found though as we weren't even directly aware of Acheron or Daedalus until the aliens showed up by coming through them.
From what I have heard there will be an adjustment to Symbiomates, and the Kaeltar will have a lower AVA in Spiral. I think the Tohaa have some other gates which lead to the human sphere, but they may not want to reveal them to humanity and combined. Thinking specifically of a possible Helot/Tohaa connection, and possibly even Antipode/Tohaa. The Combined may be looking for other routes into the Human Sphere as well, but they would need to get their spies into the other systems and begin mapping out the where those systems actually are, and they only way to get into those other systems is through the Paradiso system.
True but from what we know the CA has quite as large empire and very effective infiltration ships. I imagine they aren't facing endless waves of Blockades at every turn. Or even if the Tohaa have alternative routes Tohaa space is being fought over with the CA right? It feels more like a matter of time then anything.
I'm liking the look of those saboteurs, FD2 Symbioarmour sounds very appealing, and the male model is particularly awesome.
At 7:55 you can see helot militia listed as well in the bottom left. I wasn't expecting to have to share them.
I guess we'll find out in two weeks (or so) when we get physical access to the books, to see if there's an actual explanation for what they mean when they say the gateway fell. In the video there are those big structures show by each wormhole that I think (according to the RPG material) look like they're the Ubiquitous Network Stabilization Platforms for each wormhole. They need those platforms to make travel safer and faster, so that they don't have ships crashing together at random with the traffic going the other way. Cutting traffic off except for emergency needs is still effectively cutting off travel. If the gates were sabotaged, that would still be a huge deal because repairing one of those platforms during an active conflict is probably fairly difficult. And sabotage of one of those platforms is the sort of thing you do when you're preparing a major incursion. As far s the Archeron Gate goes, one of the things that the nexus gates do is make it more predictable where ships are going to come out of the gateway. If you're running a blockade, you want that to happen so that you have an easier time blowing them up. It's a reference in the RPG book that the nature of the wormhole having a bigger exit area works sort of in the Combined Army's favor, even though the transit risks work against them at the same time.
A good chunk of the Tohaa's Errant fleet is also deployed to the Paradiso system so it's not like there's only going to be a handful of them left. Still plenty of Artichokes to do Artichokey things.
