Hi lovely poeple, I'm back with more doubts regarding the local league we're running. This time I'm playing against a Tohaa opponent and the mission is Deadly Dance. I believe he'll be fielding a Gorgos and.. I don't really know if I should be fielding a Guijia or not, TBH. Do you think is better just to forfeit it and spend the points on thing that could take care of the enemy TAG more effectively? (maybe a Hac Tao or Yan Huo, IDK). Thanks in advance for your help, as always.
Forfeit it. Your quadrant holders need to be disposable or hard to kill if they have to push to the far side. Guijia runs to the far side it gets jumped by Makaul and dies.
Triumph is right, the Guijia is a trap, even for missions that encourage TAGs. It goes without saying that you should try to sneak some fire ammunition in there if possible, especially if you know your opponent is going to be taking a Gorgos. Even in vanilla, a Wu Ming HRL can do a lot of damage and is relatively cheap. It's a simple yet underrated profile that deserves some attention.
You could do something like: Invincible Army──────────────────────────────────────────────────10 GŪIJIĂ MULTI HMG, Heavy Flamethrower / AP CCW. (2 | 88) GŪIJIĂ PILOT Light Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. () DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. Anyway, you’ve got an aggressive and survivable link that can put shoot anything tohaa has. You’d need to aggressively go after their makauls because they can use eclipse and flamethrowers to wreck your day. I’m pretty sure tohaa can throw out white noise to get past your Hai Dao, but it’s inevitable. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
I almost like this one better because you can use sensor to find that pesky clipsos that will contest an objective. You can also use your LT order on your Guija or your link. It’s not a bad idea to sub in the MK12 for Kai Sheng if you don’t care about the tinbot. I want to use the Guijia, the model is Awesome. I haven't figured out how to make it work yet, though. By rights, it should be a solid, if basic, TAG. But it's very hard to leverage compared to other TAGs, particularly something like the Uhlan or Cutter. It's a known bug in Army Mobile, something isn't rendering line-breaks correctly there.
Wouldn't a more vanilla tag comparison be the Squalo? Cutter and Uhlans both have some neat tech going on. Guijia seems to be the most vanilla TAG in the game - not trash, just nothing fancy going on. Just a good, solid machine to beat the hell out of things with.
It would be. The Squalo (and Lizard) at least have the HGL option to make things interesting. The Guijia and Mag Guard don't, and those two TAGs are rarely taken as a result. Neither are the non-HGL Squalo or Lizard. The Raicho used to be in the same boat, but got some new toys recently. Maybe people are still in the "can I make the Raicho work with the new gear" phase (and are using it more), so I'm wanting to wait at least another 6months before I come down one way or the other on the Raicho.
It's also worth pointing out in the Maggy's favour that it costs 10 points less than the Guijia, and comes in a faction that not only has far better low-to-medium cost passive support pieces to feed it orders, but also far better specialists and hacker networks to support it actively. Guijia ain't got shit on Maggy.
To note, Squalo also comes in NCA which is pretty good at supporting and fueling fat active pieces, while Maggie at least comes in what can otherwise be a cheap army (and isn't too expensive itself for what it is). That was enough for non-HGL Squalo lists to have some success, at least in my local meta. That said, what "TAG missions" require from you to get the benefits has nothing to do with running MBTs in a sane matter, so there's that. As for Guijia in IA, it has a lot more problems than just being a plain MBT, which is already a serious issue.
Like Section9 wrote, it's due to Army Mobile app. It gets slightly less terrible if you manually mark the text and copy-paste (instead of push the provided button), so it's two layers of buggediness.
A Hac Tao is way better than a Guijia as much as I hate to admit it. Could also run a Yan Huo Haris. That might shake things up. What Section 9 said, it's a bug. The work around is to take your army code and plug it into the browser version of army (with desktop mode enabled if on mobile). It's a little bit of a pain in the ass, but it's a work around.
Well, as usual i say do what you think will be fun to play. For me I'd take the Guijia just because and I like a challenge. I would actually take after his name "tortoise" and keep him back for a bit going into Suppression fire. It then moves out 2nd or 3rd turn to take objectives. I know it's easier said than done but he's got to keep to his strengths. Keep in cover and leverage the Multi-HMG. For the support, you may want some fire weapons for the Gorgos. If you think the poo poo ing on Guijia is a lot, you should see guys complain about the Gorgos.
I can certainlly understand the complaints since if has an AP Spitfire... But it gets access to symbiomates so who cares, right? Jokes aside, I think it can stand his ground a little bit better than our Guijia thanks to the "extra wound" and the auxiliar. What do you guys think about this list?: Dance monkey, dance! ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 LIÚ XĪNG Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, CC Weapon. If I can take that out without exposing the Guijia to a B2 ML ARO, cool. The defensive link is there to force Makaul triads to use Eclipse smoke if they want to hack/fry my poor robot and stop the Gorgos from moving if possible. Hulang is a big guy with a scary sword. What do you think? Is it viable? Should I just spend the points in a Hac Tao/Yan Huo HMC and call it a day? Is the Liu Xing a little too cute?
Hulang is shithouse against Tohaa, it's probably the worst match you could throw him into. He's not going to able to get close to anything to set on fire, Makaul are going to take a dump all over him. They have longer range flame throwers, and they're better than him in CC with viral weapons and they're everywhere. They also have smoke support and he doesn't.
I disagree. Just because the Hulang has FD Level 1 doesn't mean you must use it. He could easily be cut off. However he has all the tools to take out any TAG but especially the Gorgos. Flamethrower, E/M Grenades, Monofilament. if he can be held back a bit to take out the Gorgos he could be fantastic.
Says who? Almost every Haqq player I know, (and I travel all over the world), uses Maggy frequently. She's not always the best choice, depending on the mission, but is about as solid as a TAG can get. She's a no-frills beat-stick. Well said. I think a point reduction or special profile would help the Guija a lot.The model is a beauty.
Hulangs have FD2, and it has nothing to do with where you deploy them and everything to do with actually being able get past Makaul spam in a timely fashion to even have a crack at the Gorgos isn't happening in any likelyhood. The Hulang can't fight his way there, his toolset loses out to Makaul, and he doesn't have the orders for someone to clear a hole open, then also move the Hulang into combat with the Gorgos. One of the advantages the Maggie has to help it avoid being overlooked is it's one of only 2 models that get BS14 for Haqq (and the other one has Frenzy and doesn't have link protection in Vanilla), and it's basically Haqq's only way to get access to MULTI weaponry. If a Haqq player decides they want a big ass gun toting the best BS stat they can find, the Maggie's the only option they have. The Guijia on the other, BS14 and a MULTI gun aren't exactly unique factors in Yu Jing. We can even put those stats in a link now.
