Wow. So far, great work guys!! These submissions are top notch so far. Remember, the deadline for submissions is today!
@infoholico @taylor I presume entrants should not share here any of what they might’ve written so’s to stay within the pre-publication rule of the event. I also presume we shouldnt discuss any details of our stories so’s to keep our submissions anonymous for the judges. Is that correct, and can you clarify any other prohibitions, please? I‘m interested to know who among us did submit a story, and for us to discuss at least the general process and the quality of whatever we managed to get submitted in the end; is that acceptable?
I have no problem. I'm completely unbiased as i don't know most of you - lol. The two english language judges are myself and another editor for Corvus Belli. The spanish submissions are being judged by other staff. I dont think there is any reason to no discuss anything or talk about your stories... this is all for fun, guys - with some cool prizes. Enjoy it!!
Okay, thanks. So should we feel free to discuss anything at all - like posting excerpts from the stories, or our loglines; whic id be very interested to see?
May I ask who managed to get their story submitted in time? I did, and was generally pleased just to have finished it; but I could've wished to improve my logline and make it more representative of the actual story.
Honestly.. i have no idea of their forum names. Just their real names. There are some REALLY great ones. It'll be hard to choose.
Sure... give me a bit to get through them. I can post them for you tonight (its 7 am my time) - im on the road today and there are quite a few of them. We ended up with something like 15 submissions.
Here's a fun thing about this contest: I was shown it by some friends from the Brazilian Infinity Community and then I was about to submit my story when one of my coworkers told me she draws art. That ended up delaying my submission by 2 months as she worked on the art piece for my story, and in the meanwhile I ended up scrapping the whole thing and writing a new one. I'm quite satisfied with the end result though. Both the story and the art.
I copied mine directly out of a Jo Nesbø crime thriller and changed the name of the central character. And it shows
I know you’re likely busy with much more important things, just curious if you have an updated eta for publication of theses stories?
I've read about half of them so far. I need to finish the other half - here is a list of the stories that were submitted. 1. Devil's Indulgence 2. Become What I Might Be 3. Maintaining the Paradise 4. Brahman 5. Desert Winds 6. One Riot 7. The Werewolf 8. Reminiscing Better Times 9. Return to the Jungle 10. Incident at the Eagle's Roost Bar 11. The One-Minded Hunter 12. Just Another Day 13. Judgement 14. Knives in the Dark 15. Losing my Religion So we are planning on announcing the winners during Infinity Week - which begins March 11th (it's early.. it MIGHT be the week after). As for production - that is up to wargaming garage (the creator of this contest) - I work for Corvus proper so I have no idea as we are just sponsoring it. I'll ask them and post here later.
@taylor I believe you also have “Losing My Religion” You may want to edit your post, just so all the other authors have a transparent lens as to what content has been uploaded. - just a thought!
I'm still unclear what we should feel free to discuss here about our stories or not, but I'd like to put a shout out to a couple of other forum members: @oldGregg, who helped with direction, content and indefatigable moral support from the outset; and @AdmiralJCJF who provided some crucial 'Human Sphere Fact Checking' later in the process. Thanks to both you guys!
