Have a chat with some Shaasvasti players with camo'd seed pods (which get stuck as S0, but aren't deployed equipment so the S0->S2 rule doesn't apply) if you need an explanation for why this is a bad idea. "Yeah, these camo markers are S0, and those camo markers are S2. Guess which ones are the seed pods." Camo'd mines being S2 means that you can't tell the difference between a mine and an S2 camo'd trooper immediately after deployment. Messing around with Prone (either to make all mines Prone, or get some exemption from putting Prone markers next to camo markers) would just make the Prone rules even more of a mess. So we have the less bad situation--you shoot where the head of a camo marker and miss because it's a mine.
I usually just read and quietly learn something or vent frustration at a simple question becoming this type of issue . The mine being S2 camo is a game mechanism to allow all kinds of tricksy deployments and is the counter intuitive part of this. Much better to just deploy mines and have them just be mimitism cleaner but in my mind less fun . Having said that why can't you shoot them? Cause you can't ... You can't see them so you can't shoot them. Why when you hit a holo echo doesn't the actual model get hit? Cause it's not the model. So to summarize S2 camo mines a gaming design choice that is fun, not being able to shoot them when they are hidden behind something for total cover a realistic execution and anything else just doesn't make sense and really is just not that big a deal .
I never realise myself that as it is wrote the mine not cancel his camo state even if it is impacted by a template with a intuitive attack, the only way is making "discover", because all the cancellation options make references to the "trooper", a mine isn't it, but in the mine rules itself it is explained explicit it can be discover and this cancell the camo state. So, can we understand that an intuitive attack don't cancel the camo state against a mine?
Ben has is correct. It's not enough to just target the camo marker with an intuitive attack – its the subsequent ARM roll that cancels the marker state
Yeah, @Ben Kenobi, @MikeTheScrivener I'am aware of this, is the arm roll what's discover the CAMO, but in the cancellation options most of times makes reference to "trooper" not an Item or Deployable Equipment. If we RAW... happens the funny observation that the mine don't reveals itself even it is impacted by the template from the intuitive attack and made the rolls, because "not a trooper". Only a succes in Discover will make the mine shows up and loose his CAMO state, and this is why in the mine description explicit tell us it works so.
