So at the LVO they announced 5 new sectorals for 2018. I'm hopping one of them are the Khawarijs sectoral that been discussed for about 2 years. Does anyone remember any of the rumors?
Vedic, Varuna, Tunguska and Immortal Army are my best guesstimates. Not sure what the 5th should be. Edit: Oh wait, wasn’t there talk about a Tohaa sectorial?
For Ramah I can only remember, that CB is rethinking the the Al Mukthar and the Numair Supersoldiers...maybe they end up as not even beeing Supersoldiers...something I read in the old forums. And they get fireteam priviledges of some sort. @Pride of Rodina is the one who might know the most about them. But still there were only rumors and nothing definitive, save for the fireteams stuff.
This is what I feel. I am not sure what would be the 5th thematic set of units that has enough, ugh, units and profiles for a sectorial. Remotes and usual merc filler trash aside, Haqq has about 7 units that can be a part of RTF. That is if we include Ghulam and Halqa, with the former not necessarily being in every sectorial and the latter possibly relegated to Kum sectorial (their theme fits, but IMO their name suggests a possibility to be with RTF for backstory reasons). Oh, and Halqa don't have minis. Even though I'm really interested in two sectorials the most (TAK and RTF), I don't see any of them happening without massive batch of unit releases.
Agreed. Especially because one of my warcor buddies tells me he has it from a reliable(ish) source that JSA will also get some love this year... Which I find hard to believe at this point. I mean, the Invincible Army will supposedly get a lot more new profiles and units, then there's all the Arestia! releases as well as the other confirmed sectorial releases this year and aren't we suppose to get a new Paradiso release also? This year is going to be very interesting indeed!
Ghulam are definitely in Ramah. The new Haqq Starter from Red Veil is also the Ramah Starter. For Halqa I am quite certain that they are in the Gabqar Khanate. In the back of my head I have a clouded picture of a dossier with the Khanates symbol. Not counting Remotes, Najjarun, Saladin, Leila and Tarik there are still 7 units for the sectorial. So with 3-6 new units the Sectorial would be good, which is imho not to much to deliver. Thats one Army Box for initial release. So its not unreasonable to think Ramah will happen this year.
USARF were in a worse place than Ramah or IA before they got their own sectorial. They had a grand total of 3 units prior to N3 IIRC (Foxtrot, Minutemen, Van Zant) with Grunts and Hardcase coming in the N3 core book. The army box brought all new sculpts, 3 new units (Mavericks, DDs, Marauders) and was quickly followed by the 6th Airborne. Desperados, Blackjacks, and the Unknown Ranger came by HSN3. My guesses are 5 of the following: Varuna Tunguska Vedic (we know it was in playtesting last year) Invincible Army (also confirned in playtest) Ramah Kazaks Shasvasti The rest will be in 2018 IMO.
Carlos already said Shasvastii are not on the list this year. Ramah has a "starter" out now via the Haqq Starter. It is a very good chance we get Ramah this year. We know the following are part of Ramah: Tarik Khawarji Zhayaden Ghulam Tuareg Al'Fasid (remotes) Naffatun Saladin Fiday(Fiday is assumed through the background that a Fiday always shadows Saladin due to the Old Man of the Mountains Orders, up for debate) Maghariba Guard This is a good foundation that only need a few more units. We have infiltrating specialists, we have 2 Core (CB confirmed Zhayaden will have a core option), Khawarij will more than likely have Haris, and we have a HI more than likely duo on the Al'Fasid (we have the two profiles released). What it needs is a cheaper normal Infiltrator, a MI (this may be Djanbazan), and a Warband (I doubt Ghazi will be the "WB" they are part of HB), so we may see a new WB option. (PS I know Ghazi are not technically WB but...they are technically WB) I really want Halqa to be in RTF, but I do believe they are Gabkhar as was previously discussed, I remember seeing the dossier as well with the Khanate symbol too.
From a business and partly background POV Fidays and Saladin make sense in Ramah, but my gut tells me that at least the Fiday is not likely. (And werent the Asawiras the ones who follow Saladin on every step?) And whether a Fiday is part of that Sectorial, it already looks like its going to be an expensive one pointswise. How will you ever fit all those profiles in a list? Ramah will play quite different from the rest of Haqq and often see 1 CG Lists. Edit: What if Beyond RV also is a Ramah release? Tarik is definitely in there, if we assume the Fiday makes it too, its not a big stretch for the Ragik. Et voila, we have another MI and AD Unit for Ramah. What does the Yu Jing part of that box tell us about this theory?
I believe Ramah will play similar to QK, less focus on Asymmetrical Warfare and more focus on out maneuvering the opponent to hit hard and not get hit (cause your lighter than most other factions). We could get Jannissaries and/or Asawira as Asawira are technically attaches to HB, but I don't remember their place of origin.
Saladin was already confirmed for Ramah. The Yu Jing half of Red veil is not all from one sectorial. Daofei and Guilang are White Banner (so realistically vanilla only for some time since their next Sectorial is Invincible Army) and the Zhanying is ISS. The interesting thing with Haq is that there is literally no overlap with units in sectorials besides ghulam and remotes. This is supported by the fluff as each group is constantly competing with each other for being the "best" army of Haqqislam. So the chances of seeing any HB units in Ramah is slim to none.
QK like pull out the big stick and hit them hard...in the back;) But QK can also bring two fully functional CGs, which is something I cannot imagine with Ramah. So like QK but also really different due to the lack of orders.
Thanks for your input...well that then rules Fidays and Ragiks out. But how about Asawiras then? They are the Hachibs elite unit and therfore not really HB. And on a side note, when can we expect another episode of my favourite podcast? ;)
Ramah will almost certainly be this year. Red Veil gave us the RTF starter and Red VEIL Beyond started the work of revamping the Khawarij. I agree with @emperorsaistone re: the Fiday. While they may surround Saladin in the fluff, they are the signature unit of HB. Doubling up on them would dramatically reduce faction uniqueness. We know that Ramah is going to have some 'unique' links, so I fully expect to see Naffatun mixing with Ghulam and/or Zhayedan. I also hope/expect to see some of our existing units reworked and expanded. Khawarij is supposed to get a HRL and probably can form a Haris with Tarik. Naffatun could also get a HRL or an engineer profile (I suppose Doc+ is more likely). We will still need a warband (I hope for a dervish inspired super soldier with strong melee and hyperkinetics or something similar to distinguish it from cheap Ghazi). Some sort of new MI, maybe a second HI with ARM3 and S2? An infilitrator of some sort and then we're good to go. I am personally hoping for AD troops, but who knows?
Still not likely. They are still part of HB and are under the command of the Hassassins, no commander in Haq would allow units not under their command to join their ranks. Ghulam and the remotes are supplied by the heater Haq Nation to all forces, which is why they are present in all sectorials, everything else is only found within the individual sectorials, or during a joint operations (aka vanilla). Soon. Both Joel and I have been super busy as of late but are looking forward to getting back on the horse.
I would put good money on a new AD troop for Ramah. If I were to speculate, I would guess something with AD2 (not found in Haq yet), and MSV1 (no msv in Ramah as of right now).
Yeah, I am really curious about the Fireteam rules. If we can mix an match several units, it opens huuuge exciting possibilities. Even just having a Naffatun in a Ghulam Link is already good and a Zhayedan on top of that...wow! Also a Core Zhayedan Link is crazy^^ No wonder that the HMG and the ML didnt get MMLV2 As long, as you keep on making them, I am happy. I am looking forward to the next episode. Totally agree, the high tech Sectorial without an AD troop seems off. And MSV 1 seems fitting. A dedicated camo hunter who is a supersoldier that doesnt even need a Jump Pack, that surgically removes camoed obstacles for the rest of the force.
I honestly expect MSV2. We know Haqqislam has the tech for it in QK, so I would expect it in our high tech sectorial. Especially if it's a result of genetically engineered eyes, rather than goggles. But I don't know about that on our AD, cool as it might be. MSV is so integral against some lists that putting it on a risky trooper might not be ideal. This is shaping up to be a pretty aggressive sectorial though, so who knows. Give them a high PH(13 or 14) and AD3 or 4 and you have a very interesting unit... A supersoldier without a jetpack is my number one hope, especially if we model it off of Ultimate Captain America and the infamous "Parachutes are for girls." Failing that, a cheapish MSV2 with means of alternative deployment could fit right in. Them advancing alongside a Khawarij Haris, supportes by a core of long range Ghulam, AL Fasid fire support, and Zhayedan Marksman creates a really interesting list. Just give me the Khawarij box! I want to paint more trench coats and turbans!
Given some of the plausible assumptions above the Al Fasid & Zhayedan are in the new sectoral. considering both are Veteran L1 it may be possible to play Saladin without CoC. It will be a nice cost savings to normal Saladin list building. With so many regular orders in Loss of Lt its totally justifiable to just not play a backup. It came in handy in my druze list when i was in LoL. If its true there will be no overlap between sectorals (Exceptions: Remote, Ghulam, Narrarun & Leila) there will be a bit of a void in hackers. The Tueregs AHD is nice, and Leila has the KHD, but after that there is only Ghulam & Halqas for normal HD. Are they going to add some more hacking options? a KHD Tueregs would be nice, but a bit expensive. While I love the Barid, its a little too much HB to be a shared model. If they are looking for high tech AD troop, give it Sat-Lock and Sensor. So far only Nomad have that. PS: I really hope the Al Fasid are Fireteam duo. It just sounds fun.
