Hey Guys, Need your advice here. Here is an attempt at building a Sun Tze list. It is a bit of an all comer's list but it is also geard towards mission who requires a datatracker. I am very inexperienced so any advice is welcome. A prior version of this list did good in Decapitation yesterday against TAC. Had a minor loss but I could have played better to win this one. Below is the improved version. I wanted to add some element to help me against To Camo and the likes so I added a sensor. I could replace the garuda for another Rui shi (which I am really thinking about) but this being said, the garuda is the only suprise vector I can have in ISS and it helps having at least one element of surprise. I also do not like the lack of ninja but I can't have everything.... Tks for taking the time. Sun Tze V03 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 6 SUN TZE Lieutenant (Advanced Command) Boarding Shotgun, 2 Nanopulsers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. First and foremost, I see nothing inherently wrong with your list. You need experience in handling it and with experience will also come your own preferences. Infinity is sufficiently complex and sufficiently closely balanced that we can't "refine" your list without also infecting it with what works in our meta and with our own foibles. I do see a question that needs asking. With Sun Tze, the major advantage is being able to push a group beyond 10 orders, but how are you planning on handling the Kuang Shi of whom 2 won't be in a link? Other than that - just play more! The list is good. Try and find out what rules mistakes you make, where you place models wrong and where your friends' blind spots are to exploit.
I love Sun Tze BSG, he's amazing as a DT and in missions where you have to control zones and have army points just standing there. I'm also a fan of two combat groups with the Su Jian and the Rui Shi taking point. My advice, since you have SWC to spare, is to put 1 KSCD + 4 KS in each group, then round it up with specialists and a big attack piece. Also, try the Spitfire version of Suji, she's pretty good. If you are putting the Rui Shi in group A, remember to put the HD that's gonna buff it in group B, so as to get max amount of orders to rampage with it, same concept applies to the link team deploying smoke. And embrace Ninjas, they are awesome. Maybe something like this?: Sun Tze and friends ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 4 NINJA Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Tactical Bow / Pistol, DA CCW, Knife. (0 | 29) SUN TZE Lieutenant (Advanced Command) Boarding Shotgun, 2 Nanopulsers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 60) SÙ-JIÀN Spitfire, Light Flamethrower, Panzerfaust / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (2 | 59) CELESTIAL GUARD (Kuang Shi Control Device) Combi Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 13) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) CHAĪYÌ Yaókòng Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) CELESTIAL GUARD Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) GROUP 2 7 1 4 RUI SHI Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 20) CELESTIAL GUARD (Kuang Shi Control Device) Combi Rifle + Light Smoke Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 13) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) SOPHOTECT Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 31) YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army You can easily drop the Ninja and put the Spitfire Garuda in there as well, you can pay the SWC. Hope it helps!
Thank you for your answer. It is true that I need to play the list more. I do play a lot agaisnt Ariadna and the huge amount of To camo made me switch to this iteration....more games will probably have me refine it more. When you are saying being able to push the group beyong 10 orders, are you reffering to Sun tze lieutenant order being able to be tranferred to a regular order? Just want to make sure I am not missing anything... For the Kuang shi, I am running two behind as extra free order that are being able to be re-link if I lose one in the core link team...and truth be told, they are so cheap that the more orders I get the better for me...
Thank you for your input. If you don't mind, I do have a few questions though. 1- WHat are you using as a ARO piece. In my first few games, the lack of ARO pieces was a big problem and I do not see any in your lists apart from the flash bot. PErhaps it is the way I play that is a problem so your input on this might help me. 2- How do you handle two groups of Kaung shi with CG? One of them will always go impetuous...tried it once and it was not a success. Any info on this will help
You can use Sun Tze as an ARO piece, as well as the Warcor. Sunny has 17 WIP to throw those nice Pulses. The Warcor and Flashbot are not that hot, but they are pretty disposable IMO. My personal prefference when playing ISS is to forgo dedicated ARO pieces since you have really nice DZ defense with all 8 Kuang Shi. Of course I'm not saying is the best, it's just how feel confident playing. Regarding free-Kuang Shi, I try to put them in total cover, in a place where they can just move 4 inches along the wall and stay in total cover (if possible) or way back the table, behind tall buildings. IMO they are so cheap that even if killed they pay for themselves since you get the orders for that turn anyway. Just remember you can cancel their impetuous mov with regular orders (canceling everything may not be worth it, but you can afford to spend one or two to save a couple of guys that would be running towards certain death). Those are my two cents.
Yes, Strategos shifting the LT order is what I mean. As for the Kuang Shi, loose Kuang Shi have a nasty tendency to evaporate during the first game round. That's what you need to deal with :) Setting up for order redundancy is good and all, but there's a risk of a small order draught here.
Thank you for the clarification. I wil certainly consider your points. I admit I do have to use flash pulse a lot more. Forgot about Sun tze flash pulse yesterday and it would have certainly helped on more than one occasion.
There is no such thing as an all comers list or silver bullet in Infinity. You will know your missions before hand. Tailor your lists to better suit the missions, that is part of the game.
