Guys, in your opinion, are Devas useful? I got one of them from the Aleph starting box, but I'm wondering: what's she good for? I also have Asuras, Nagas, Dayisus - as well as Myrmidons, Thorakitai, not to mention quite a few of the character Greeks. With all these troopers available, I'm not sure what niche could a Deva fill?

    Just shopping for opinions...

You’ve got the option for a cheap lieutenant, a Danavas stand-in - or the Spitfire can be useful.

They are also the only non-remote Sensor we have. Situational for sure, but certainly useful.
I like to work the Spitfire profile paired with the Spitfire Myrmidon as well. The pair give you great options for choosing your engagement terms.

    I see!

And is it worth having more than one Deva, though? I'm wondering whether it's a good idea to pick up the Devas + Devabots box...

BTW. These models are a bit old... Do you guys think CB might replace them soon?

Sensor lieutenant is a contender for best cheap lieutenant.

Spitfire Deva is probably our most cost effective MSV2 (Arm 2, BS 12, NWI and a Spitfire for 33 points and 1 SWC) and pairs well with a Myrmidon friend (seems redundant, but I like running the MSV2 Spitfire Deva with a Spitfire Myrmidon).

I have found uses for covering backfield with Combi rifle + Devabot, but I only really run those if I'm really wanting the Fire template and treat the devabot like an Auxillia's bot.

I think the hacking device profile is the worst. Danavas and Mk1 do the job as well for cheaper.

Edit: It is probably worth picking up the Deva box or multiple Deva Spitfire blisters because I have a feeling Devas will be linkable in Vedic (maybe a Haris at worst). If you don't care about Vedic, buy as many as you need for your purposes. The starter box Deva and Spitfire Deva is a good start.

1 SWC is pretty cheap for an MSV2 Spitfire, and Aleph get a good amount of smoke to combo her with.

Sensor is never a bad skill to have in a list.

The hacker had been overshadowed by the Davanas, but it is still a surprisingly capable combat specialist .

G: Sync Heavy Flamers are always fun!

I would say it depends. If you like Scylla and Drakios a second pair of bots is handy. The Deva from the starter (can cover any profile except the spitfire if you have a bot already) and the Spitfire blister are probably going to cover most of your uses. At least until OSS/Vedic comes out

They can be placed in a list nicely. A cheap LT and msv2 spitfire are good choices.

The only thing holding most MSV2 Spitfires back is 4-2. I often have a Myrm Spitfire and Deva Spitfire pair.

Deva: or how the MI troop moves like a fast and light HI!

My favourite troop is the Deva+Devabot, in pairs. The shenanigans you can pull with the sincronized unit are great, it's a WP 15 troop that can discover AND Intuitive Attack enemy camo units (that means 4 rolls in a single turn, using 2 orders, even if the Devabot has not a high WP), can go into Suppresive Fire, and is the cheapest Lt option Aleph has (with also some survivability), and one you can risk without much remorse.

Also, good BS and Suppresive Fire on all profiles!

I'd can the one from the starter, however. The ones in the Deva box are much nicer!

Personally, Devas stand amongst my most liked troops in the entire game. They fill almost every role you can give to a LI (except long range ARO dutty) flawlessly. As everyone stated, the hacker profile is the 'ugly duckling' now that Danavas has taken the stage, but all in all, almost all available profiles for the Devas are good to field.

I really like the one in the starter set as a 'femme fatale bot'. I'd be really disappointed if the new sculpts were any different than those.

That one i really like the look of, but not the fit. The damn leg doesn't fit well, you pretty much have to do some work on it. I'd settle for a rework of that one so that it has the new style pegs. The rest is perfect.

Yeah, that's a known issue with older CB models. Fortunate for us, they aknowledged that issue and solved it. Heck, they even did an article about it on their blog :tearsofjoy:

For me, Devas are iconic Aleph troops that I rarely use. They're not exactly bad, just not actually good (well, MSV2+Spitfire is exception to this). The rest are fine, but just a few points too expensive. I usually put them in a list when I'm going for an easier, friendlier list.

I would like them to have a small discount, plus more interesting profiles. MULTI Rifles (MSV2 + MULTI Rifle profile !!!), CoC version would be particularly welcome (if expensive). Still, this would lead to more playtime in my book.

As for models, I don't know what is the problem - I love the female from the boxed pack, and the rest are all good sculpts that look quite modern. Devabot look is also cool, although building them is hell.

    - MSV2 Spitfire
    - Stronger, more versatile Auxilia analog
    - WIP15 Sensor
    - WIP 15 hacker
    - Two strong Lt. choices

    What's not to like?

I don't really like them. They are not bad, they are ... plain, something like that. They lack something distinctive. I often compare them to Odalisks (my second army is QK). Odalisks have variety in weapons and some unique features like i-kohl. Devas are just "elite LI", they have nothing that says "devas". As for what would make them distinctive, i don't have a good idea.

Not every unit needs something 'special'. What defines Devas is that they're barebone, no-nonsense LI with various strong options. They'll probably have a more defined use in OSS.

Sensor, G:Sync, and MSV2 are all pretty special, the base statline might not have any sauce but the profiles bring several varieties of gravy.

Also RPG Deva is best Deva.
