So I've been building a bunch of minis I got recently, mostly Aleph with a few Combined Army stuff, and I had some reactions to them:
    • the new Dakinis are a joy to build,
    • they also look quite impressive, even if I have minor quibbles about HMG and MULTI Sniper poses. But whatever, I love them,
    • Apsara Cyberdancer is quite a nice looking mini - it is a damn shame the profile is a glorified cheerleader. Yeah, I know profile is good, but there's never any reason to ever spend Orders on the unit and that's a damn shame.
    • WTF is with the Rudras mini. It's literally the size of Sphinx (bigger, really). That's supposed to be S4?
    • Also, why does it so clearly have baggage?
    • And sensor (EVO Hacking Device) on the other side of the gun?
    • And that gun can't shoot anything from its position all the way down?!
    • I'm convinced more than ever this was supposed to be new Probot mini and they just decided they needed something last minute so they repurposed it. Phoning it in much?
    • and then we come to the Team Rocket Deva. Looking at this mini convinced me nobody in CB cares about Aleph in the slightest.
    • I bet one of the sculptors was trying to make a joke / get a rise from CB management and then being surprised by "sure, putting into production, whatever". I bet there's an awesome variant of this model without Team Rocket hair and pose, lying forgotten somewhere in files, never to be seen.

Team Rocket Deva is one of my favourite minis in a while.

She is a nice addition to the Dakini box. I hope to buy her someday in the future along with the bots.

The new Dakini are great but I wish the feet and legs were one piece. Just seems to be separated for no good reason (I get its probably production related). Its an easy place for stress breaks as well depending on how you store and travel.

I actually really like the Rudras :'(
The gun is in a slightly odd spot but I assume the rudras can change its height a little bit and pivot around as necessary. Watching GITS is great in showing you how spider-bot type robots can move around and change angles as necessary. The new double rebot box is odd to me though . Just seems like weird blocky things. Maybe its the pose? Weird cause normally I like designs like that (sharp, angular sci-fi) but this just doesn't seem to be doing it for me. I use the new Haqq remotes as proxies instead. I guess its better than the old Probot sculpts which kind of look like children's trikes. In many ways I think I preferred the scorpion like design of the old Rebots to the new Rebots..

Agreed with not being a huge fan of Jessie-Deva but I respect that at least its interesting and distinct compared to many other things. I hope they keep taking by sculpt experiments like this.
But my biggest complaint is her getting bundled with the Dakini - and kind of the box in general. I guess it kind of makes sense because a new player can pick them up and can almost have almost a full Dakini fireteam with the 3 dakini and their handler. But for me, I already own 2 Deva + devabots from the old sculpts and I own the new Deva in the O:CF box. I don't want another Deva or another combi Dakini. really just want the MSR and/or the HMG on its own. I think the Dakini in the box maybe holding the medkit pistol? Which is nice but not super necessary and with the unwanted Jessie-Deva in there, just seems like I'm paying 4 models worth of money for 2 sculpts which is shit. But I accept this is kind of par for course for SWC boxes as you only really want 1-2 profiles in there.

But the underwhelming Rebots aside, I'm a pretty big fan of all the OSS models that came out last year. Very easily sold me on the faction. Love the Yadu, Adam Jensen and the Apsara. Love the Asura as well even though her cup-size seems completely unnecessary. Her broad shoulders, big hair and pose overall give a great intimidating aura even amongst the enemy S5 HI's.

I really like the rudra, and i like the dakinis, but i vastly prefer the ones in coldfront. Which is a problem because i'm gonna have to by coldfront, and i couldn't care less about ariadna, it's the only faction i know i will never play. Also as nemo said, the pose are kind of meh. I'm thinking about using hollow men instead, considering they are 100 % awesome.

On a slightly different note, what do you think of the grey skin the new sculp of asuras and proxy use ? I tend to use the official color schemes of the armies, but this i find reaaally ugly (i also surmise it's really hard to paint properly).

I completely ignore the official scheme. All my Aleph troops have bronze/Mediterranean skin tones, with glowing blue eyes for OS troopers and glowing red eyes for ASS.

You just made me realize that painting the faces of my vedic units in a brown/caramel tone would actually be awesome when combined with my actual pale and cream scheme. Now i want to repaint them...what have you done...

And that's true for all of the new models. They've got with a Tachikoma feel, but I agree, it's just a little too low.

Look, when your trying to pack a mini-TAG into a slim S2 frame, sometimes you have to get a little creative with the distribution of mass. Those system upgrades have to go somewhere!

Yeah, you could sell it as repeater, although it is as silly as that front-low positioned gun.
But no way in hell is this a "mine dispenser".
    upload_2019-2-22_23-45-52.png
And that's if we completely ignore that it's raising high its mines to be easier to hit and exploded by enemy fire.
Yeah, they got a bit Tachikoma feel, I agree, but honestly, it's a Probot resculpt with a gun.

I like to point out the MR Yadu wich I like very much - cool pose, cool faceless look. The Yadu box on the other side look more like a bunch of casual walking troops, they are okay, but good as the first one. Shakti is a very good sculpt too. Only thing is the knife. I think she would look better without, simply resting the hand on the tight.

Shukra - nothing special here. No helmet because his job as a adviser is to communicate with real people.

New Naga MSR. Again that much hair. I like the sculpt, but I think it was unnecessary. The old one is still in the double blister and good enough - we speaking of the least used profile here.

Deva Hacker - cool guy, fully cyber mode on - same goes for the big girl Asura. I think I like the slim old ones more, but it is a good transfer to the actual scale. Very powerful look.

Please never intersperse answers within a quote, makes it a long work to answer and frankly, I'm too lazy to do it :D I will however pick out one thing.
I don't mind a lot of hair - even like it on some minis like Avicenna. However, there is no sculpting done on the hair of the Team Rocket Deva. It looks like a giant slug is growing out of her head.
And frankly, if they're gonna do references to popular culture, it should make sense, like Suicide Squad Morlocks. There's huge number of references they could've given to Aleph, but Pokemon is not one of those.
I like the Yadu visual design, but I don't like the starter box Yadu. Partly because I dislike Aleph MULTI Rifle design and partly because her pose is nonsense-dynamic. Boxed Yadus are pretty good except the stupidly small HMG.
The mini is pretty decent, nothing mind blowing. Hate the drum magazines on the new Shotguns.
Lots of hair is fine, the whole sculpt is perfectly fine, but it suffers from a bad profile, plus the old one is so much more character. Still, I think I'll use her as Proxy Mk.II Sniper as my old Sniper has broken again XD
I don't like full cyber mode for Devas, they're supposed to be human-friendly, the sculpt is otherwise good. It does suffer from similar problem to Naga, meaning NO ONE EVER SHOULD USE DEVA HACKER. It's so overcosted it's hilarious. I do like the new Asura, absolutely smashing except the large breasts. I replaced the MULTI Rifle with something that looks better. :D

But its easy to answer ;-)

Yeah but I like it anyway. Luckly I don´t even now Team Rocket. The references to pop culture are tricky. My friend for example don´t recognize the reference to Guardians of the Galaxy on the Moderators. And speaking of this, for me it is one of the worser resculpts, expecialy the sniper-dude.

Oh I am okay with the MR design and I like the pose - she is swinging around.

Yes. But a least you can tell Combi and Shotgun apart without doubt.

Devas are like a interface to humanity, but they are also for combat. I like the to see they change from nice guy to cyber-warrior. The Deva Hacker as AHD Combi or not ;-)
