My policy for which army I play is simple : I try a new army/sectorial each season. Season 8 was Ariadna vanilla Season 9 was Aleph vanilla Season 10 is Nomads vanilla And now I'm starting to think on season 11 army (it takes time to build and paint everything plus read some tactics thread) I've listed what I want : - I want an army that can play TAG or strong HI with many choice available (opposite to the Marut or Achilles in Aleph) - I want to be able to play 1 group/10 order or 2 groups/13+regulars orders - I want to keep access a good bag of tricks (maybe not all but more than a few) - I loved playing a defensive style with nomads and want an army that can play defensive, aggressive or a mix of the two - Midfield game is an important part of my game style and I want to keep some (even if not as strong as Ariadna or Nomads) With this in mind, CA vanilla (with new shasvasti likely bringing a strong midfield) and Pano vanilla can both answer my needs. What do you think ? Which one would you advice ?
With what we currently have available, I'd say PanO. Varuna added a mess of midfield shenanigans to PanO. But if Shas come out in the April book, that may change.
Whould say CA. I'm not a huge fan of vanilla PanO. Ava of the new toys is to low there. In CA you have the Shrouded and Malignos and Sphinx and Anathematics can be Beasts.
I get it for the TAG game (Pano simply has a lot more choice), but I don't get it regarding HI. Could you explain a bit more ? I agree, new Shas will be a big decision maker for me too (both the look and the gameplay) Out of Zulu Cobra, does Varuna brings a lot to Pano vanilla ? It doesn't fit what I want to try for next season : No TAG, no strongs HI (only the Vet Kazak), limited bag of tricks, limited defensive game (mostly fireteam). Plus I prefer playing Vanilla because I like synergies and diversity a lot more than fireteam and better AVA (plus fireteam is on my list for season XII, with Tohaa if they get enough release by then)
Combined Army HI are basically the Morat options (better in their sectorial than Vanilla) and the Aspects (great, but SUPER expensive). PanOceania has a wider variety of HI options, covering a better range of viable choices. Everything from the Swiss, down to the Magister Knight, with a wealth in between.
@AdmiralJCJF pretty much summed it up. PanO HI are much more varied, than CA ones. Especially now that MO got upgraded. Sure, Aquila and SG are less powerful than Charontid and Anathematic. But you can back them up with Holo HI, bike HI, warband HI, HI with Auxbot...
I took some time to think on what was written here. So to sump up : Pano : more choice of TAG, stronger HI game, some midfield but low AVA on the toys CA : more tricks (white noise, smoke, impersonation...), maybe better midfield once shas come back Anything I forgot ?
Don't think anything changed with the actual knowledge. There are atm no profiles who brought changes to the midfield.
I’d like to apologize that the eggs on my Shaasvastii bandwagon have not been painted yet. There’d be more figures, but they need to be repaired first.
Pretty much. Unless the unspoiled troops have something exotic going on, I'd still lean towards PanO over Shas.
Shas main weakness is the lack of HMG or AP ammo. So far that doesn't seem to be changing. This is not a problem that Ariadna has since they got units like tankhunters and Spetsnazs. Shas are also more expensive while being worst than the Ariadna camo spam lists.
Have you missed their new basic trooper profile, the Nox? linked HMGs in a Core is now a reality in Shas.
You can take two Q-Drones and now even cheeper hacker for supporting them. Don't know where you should have a problem.
Ah, yes. The nox has an HMG...........I suppose I missed that with the Zapper hype. Thats pretty sweet since a linked HMG is exactly what Shas needs. Thanks for pointing that out. Yeah thats true. The issue then becomes is that enough to handle stuff like fireteam Missile Launchers? I suppose it it is good enough.
