So I am reaching out to my local meta to get a couple 150pt games under my belt and I plan on taking two lists that I feel would be fun. Varuna (150pt / 2 SWC) Kamau (Lt) Kamau (Forward Observer) Fusilier HMG Fusilier (Forward Observer) Fusilier (Forward Observer) Montessa Motorized Knight (Paramedic) (on motorcycle) Kamau HMG What would be a good proxy for the Motorcycle? NCA ( 145pt / 3 SWC) Bolt (Lt) Bolt Spitfire Fusilier (Forward Observer) Fusilier (Forward Observer) Fusilier (Hacker) Peacemaker (spitfire) Auxbot Auxilia (Forward Observer) Auxbot Auxilia (forward Observer) Auxbot In my mind the Varuna list plays aggressive moving more coordinately, though the Kamau HMg will hang back watching behind as well as covering the fireteam. Though I could swap it with the fusilier hmg and make the fusilier a sniper for same point and 0.5 SWC more to cover. The motorized Knight would zoom around blasting with the Boarding shotgun a or zip in heal the fire team and zip out. What would be a good proxy for the Motorcycle since there isn't a dedicated mini? The NCA list would play more board control the Auxilia and the Peacemaker would use there Auxbots' Heavy Flamers to corral the enemy toward the 'central' fireline where the core Fire team would gun them down. Though I am wondering if I should drop the Fusilier hacker and an Auxilia and add a standard Fusilier and a Hexas Killer Hacker. I understand that the Fusilier hacker can give the peacemaker Marksman lv 2 but with all the Auxbots running around a KHD would be more useful to have. What do you all think?
Are you going to be using Fireteam rules, or are these for an early escalation league where the advanced rules aren't in play yet?
Yeah, that NCA list doesn't work if it's supposed to have a fireteam. Maybe try: Neoterran Capitaline Army ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18) FUSILIER Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18) AUXILIA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4) AUXILIA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4) BULLETEER Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 23) LOCUST Boarding Shotgun, Grenades, Drop Bears / Pistol, Shock CCW, Knife. (0 | 30) 2.5 SWC | 149 Points Open in Infinity Army
Well ... that sucks. So it’s either full fusilier, full bolts, or 4 bolts and a machinist. I guess I got too sucked in by Varuna’s flexibility. Also what the hell. I have tried copying from army list the the forums but it only gives me a mess of text. What are opinions on the Varuna list? And opinions on a good proxy. I was thinking the One of the JSA bike for proxy but I’m unsure.
Well, what's up with the Kamau Lt and FO? Why not run both as Fusiliers? Ditto the HMG in the Fireteam, why isn't it a Kamau? You are also dropping a lot of points into upgrading profiles, but probably don't need so many FOs. Maybe consider a Fugazi instead.
The linebreaks got missing due to character encoding on tablets and smartphones I guess. You have to add them manually or use a computer.
I understand the Fusilier fire teams are the staple in PanO but from what I understand they are played defensively and move up last. Then as I understand it. Varuna was designed to be aggressive with their fireteams since they possess stealth to move up the field without triggering AROs. Taking the FOs would allow for them to deploy further in from the normal deployment zone so they can move up quicker. The Kamau Lt is for more survivability. In an aggressive team. And I made a mistake the Kamau HMG in the fire team Was suppose to be a Fusilier with a multi sniper the only one on the fire team for a cheap sniper. Does my reasoning make sense? Or was this just the blathering of a no nothing noob?
Oh, no, that's rational (apart from the FO bit, they don't have any special deployment skills so start in your deployment zone as usual). You might find that the Fusilier Missile Launcher is the better ARO piece to pair with a HMG, but the Sniper has some range advantages to make up for hitting a little less punchily.
