And you just need to spray the model once for protection or do you need multiple layers?

 

Never heard of anyone going that far. Perhaps you are on to something...it's worth giving it a try at least.

 

I usually triple-up. two coats of gloss (especially if/when doing decals, one gloss before decals and the second after), then flat on top.

 

What brand of gloss do you use?

 

Rustoleum Crystal Clear for the gloss (cheap and good quality), Testor's Dullcote for the flat (dead flat and not picky about application conditions).
