You mean walk up from my DZ or have I been playing Infinity wrong and someone with AD:4 also can use AD:2 because its a lower number of the same skill? Please tell me you mean walking up from DZ because it would be too strange or find out how wrong I've been playing the game...
I'm sorry, but of course someone with AD:4 can use AD:2. It's a numbered skill with no restriction on using a lower-level version :)
...I remember hearing a joke by some infinity players saying that after playing for 2 years, they only needed to look up the wiki once per game. This however doesn't feel like the same situation... just feels like I missed something basic... I feel like an idiot :/
I've changed the list to the following. I'm guessing the Dakini team will be doing a fair amount of the load lifting given that loadout @BarbeChenue. Interested to see how it fares! @Nemo No Name , you were distressingly correct about my LT2 orders being used elsewhere. I activated the Yadu exactly twice. Once to move her. The other in a coordinated order to put her in suppresive. The opponent didn't even come her way though so she literally did nothing but look intimidating. I'm still convinced I want to give Yadu's a proper go though. Just not in this list. Orders are too in demand with the Proxies. We changed Frontline to Aquisition but otherwise everything unfolded like expected. Worst mistake I made was putting my Asura in suppresive instead of cybermask allowing the securitate FT under smoke + white noise to put her in repeater range and then get murdered by Mary Problem's Lightning. Still won 6-0 after opponent called the match though. I was spec-firing e/m nades at his Kriza who kept dodging closer untill he was peeking around teh corner at the Proxy mk 5 to stop the spec fires. WHich was perfect as my Dakini HMG then could draw LOS to it and ended in within 2 orders. After taking out a few more important mid-field pieces of the opponent, he just decided to call it as he felt his FT didn't have a reasonable chance to reclaim the Tech Coffin off me. I also had no chance to claim any of the antennas due to his well placed repeaters but I was still going to win so game ended. Game was fun enough but I feel like I didn't learn too much about the specific application of the list. Just what mistakes not to make in the future. I guess that's better than nothing. Also, Garuda is not every helptful even with AD2 when one flank is protected by a TR HMG, the other flank is protected by a hacker and a repeater and the whole board is protected by hack transport XD
Hack Transport is a paper tiger. Chances it will do something are small. Here's a couple more tips: If you disperse out of gameboard, you get to walk in on the edge of your DZ, You can attempt landing in full view of that Interceptor - thet must Hack Transport, and if thet don't, they lose the ARO. Then you activate and blast with Boarding Shotgun in 18s
He was careful to have the TR HMG near the interventor this time and the board had a distinct lack of scatter or it made approaching very difficult overall. But yeah next time I might gamble on the AD4
deploy with his interventor between you and the TR. You're not allowed to shoot through friendly models.
True but you don't need to draw a line through the model. Its base to base with the right size from the silhouette right? Makes using S2 to block the S3/4 whatever it was a bit harder. But yes, there may have been an angle where I could have dropped just out of sight of the TR bot but explaining the situation is complicated. Basically the same decision that IMO cost my opponent the chance at seizing the tech coffin was also preventing my approach. he had very good board control for that whole 3rd of the table. He's a somewhat inexperienced player with I think less than 10 300pt games so he was focused on all the shooty stuff which he did well but also meant he was too static to take the objectives off me. I have a series of 200pt games coming up at the club in a month. Trying to make some lists for that. Immediately rules out having an Asura LT sadly. Just too hard to fit her in in a 200 point list while still having pts left over for other OSS staples like proxies and stuff. Even trying to fit in Yadu's into my practice lists are hard. Can't really take more than a Duo. At this point I think I'm leaning towards the Rudras and Dakini FT doing all the killing and a bunch of mysterious camo and t/o tokens in the middle of the board for everything else. Also, biotechvore for OSS @200 points does not make for stressfree list building I'm finding :/
Must they hack transport? As AD is a full order, aren't AROs only declared after model placement, at which point the conditions for hack and shoot are met?
Due to AD placement oddities, yes. It's because if you scatter, different AROs are granted. So basically the moment you announce jump Hackers that can Hack Transport Aircraft must do it, or they've lost the right to ARO.
All right so with a couple of more games under my belts, learnings: Dakini Snipers are indeed amazing. Even without the supportware, having the +3 range bonus over most of the board is crazy especially with DT ammo. Add FT bonuses and its hot death in the reactive. Even when aggressively moving up the FT, parking the sniper in inconvenient places is a really spanner in the works. They either deal with it or get dealt with. And with mimetism + cover, its actually pretty hard to deal with. Yadu and Shakti are good. But they kind of need to be 5pts cheaper or something. They restrict list building a bit too hard. But they were effective. I ran the Yadu LT with the drop bears and he was fun. It was like using my beloved Bolts in a way but with NWI so lasted longer. Didn't get a chance to use the e/marat but there was an opportunity that I contemplated rambo-ing Shakti against a FT to drop the template on them. I like having the option for serious disruption. I'm interested to know if anyone had good or bad experiences using the Yadu HRL as a pure ARO piece. OSS really needs more LT options... I want to try Shukra LT next. If I'm going to have obvious LT syndrome anyway then I might as well get most use of the LT order with Strategos L1 while I can.
Agreed on Yadu and Shakti. They fall exactly under the price of vanilla HI, and vanilla HI that doesn nothing different than shooting is hard to justify because of the expense. Yadus in general are more flexible with access to mines and DTWs, but still sit in that unconfortable niche. Never had a experience with the Yadu HRL. Dakini snipers are way cheaper, and you have harder to dislodge pieces on Dasyu. Linking them could make a difference, but Yadu don't have a cheap link option. About lts.... Ive ended up with the Asura lt more often than not for the exact same reason. If it is going to be obvious and expensive, might as well run her with the two extra lt orders she gives.
Weird thing is though in general, in I'm willing to pay the premium to have a more versatile trooper. The more the toolbox the better. It just happens to be in this already expensive sectorial, paying that premium prices the unit off the dinner plate. It's cheaper and you get more orders by getting individual specialists over the Yadu toolbox...
I would rather use the Mk4 with Heavy rocket launcher, more armour, cheaper, doesn't lose you an order when it dies.
Problem with the Mk4 is that mk1, 2 and 5 have such great profiles that the 3 and 4 feels like a waste, even if they would have been excelent otherwise.
5 is the one I end up subbing for the others, it's good but I feel it can atleast be replaced. The other two cannot
I think my very first Aleph/OSS game I took the MK 3. For my second I subbed it out for the MK5. And then I never went back to the 3. May have experimented with the 4 at some point but as you say, 1,2 and 5 are like the holy trinity for Proxy combinations. Which is worth noting as, I think, Yadu as expensive as they are worth discussing in that context: i.e. the list will have 1,2 & 5 so comparing the Yadu HRL vs the 4 may be an unfair comparison because the mk4 won't be in the list anyway. edit: I know @tdc said he'd consider dropping the 5 for a 4 but I think its worth thinking about in this context anyway because I'd still likely include the 5 to have a tough FO around for objectives. Have any of you read the Yadu thoughts someone posted here (and part 2)? I disagree with some assertions (i.e. SMG is not a mid-range weapon from my experience as engaging out of 8" never ends well for me) but the write-ups are pretty favourable to the Yadu. Unfortunately for me, part 2 ends with "If you have the points" I don't :'( Fun to use though. I stand by that statement. Very hard to fit in the list but fun to use. And I do think e/m will be more valued and more common in the coming days. Yadu is both a carrier of e/m with L1 making them immune to receiving the effects so its worth thinking about. Meta dependent I guess.
