    Hello,

Assume I use Possession to take control of an enemy TAG. I then walk it over so that it is touching my Shikami.

The models are not in close combat because the TAG is a friendly model.

On my opponents turn, he spends a Command Token to take control back.

Question - does the TAG instantly become locked in Close Combat because the models are touching, or would the Shikami have to initiate an Engage ARO if the TAG activated?

    Yes.

This is why people put palbots un b2b with their tags. So if they get possesed they are auto engaged

Huh. I’m suddenly reminded of a half-dozen threads concerning overlapping hidden deployment models where it was repeated that the only way to become engaged was due to intentionally moving into base contact.

Slightly different issue there. They're just giving the short-hand; since the Hidden Deployment unit is taking an action that doesn't allow it to enter CC and it started outside of CC, it will be separated.

Does raise the question regarding if the first action is Move, though...

It's also worth noting that in this case the models are intentionally in base contact. This is not (and cannot be) true of a model in a marker state.

Which does raise the question of whether 2 non-marker state troopers could be deployed base to base. I see no reason why not. Ergo it is possible to trigger the Engaged state at deployment.

Apart from the big red boxes for all the Skills that let you deploy outside your Deployment Zone... ;-)

But is the reverse true? Can I deploy a Holoecho in BTB with a Fiday that's already deployed inside my DZ?

(I always thought deployment should follow movement restrictions.)

I completely forgot those red boxes existed. Carry on, nothing to see here :)

A holoecho? Nope, it would be removed instantly.

Another trooper? I don't see why not, if it is inside you DZ. Nope, see below

Because this : "To deploy your troops on the table, follow these rules: [...]Troops cannot be deployed in base to base contact with enemy troops, neutral troops, Markers or Objectives, regardless of their Special Skills" (http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Initiative_and_Deployment#Deployment_Rules)

A fiday may look friendly but he still is an ennemy troop

    Neat. Thanks @Arkhos94
Holos are removed at the end of an order, not instantly, and it would have triggered cancellation for the IMP as well :)

    Yeah?
I thought they are considered troops (for deployment), which entails that you are not allowed to deploy them in B2B to a marker. Otherwise the reference to the deployment rules doesn't make sense.
    • Automatic when deployed, placing three Holoechoes on the game table, within Coherency of each other. Players must respect the general conditions of the Deployment rules.
Otherwise - is deployment considered an order? If not, won't the markers remain until any of the two is activated?
    • Anytime a holographic decoy cancels its Holoecho state the player must remove its Holoecho from the table at the end of the Order that happened.

Holoecho is a marker state so it can't be deployed in b2b.

You don't need to tell your opponent that they're markers until the start of your first Active turn, but they're still markers.

    First : http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Holoecho
"Automatic when deployed, placing three Holoechoes on the game table, within Coherency of each other. Players must respect the general conditions of the Deployment rules."
    Then the deployment rules:
So : you must respect the deployement rules and said deployement rules say you cannot deploy B2B

    This is the crucial point:
    • While in the Holoecho state, the trooper is represented by three Holoechoes
So all three Holoechoes are considered troopers.
Yeah, deploying in B2B is not allowed.

No, woulda coulda shoulda. Note how I also thanked Arkhos94

IF and only IF they could've they wouldn't have been removed because deployment is not an order.

Edit: and the fake echoes are considered troopers only for "providing AROs, checking LoF, and activating enemy weapons or pieces of Equipment (Mines, E/Maulers, etc.)"

    Now I'm confused.

If they are not considered troops for deployment, why can't you deploy them in B2B?
You are deploying a marker that isn't a trooper, after all.

    So it's like this:
the Fiday is a marker, but still a trooper. And you are not allowed to deploy a (holoecho) marker in b2b with it behause the Fiday is not allowed to be deployed in b2b to a marker, and so the holoecho deployment would invalidate the fiday's deployment?
    *headscratching*
I think i have a knot in my brain now.

    You're overthinking it.

Impersonation and Holoecho are both Marker states.

You cannot deploy in b2b with a Marker, or with an enemy.

So if the Fiday deploys first, the Holoecho cannot deploy in b2b because the Fiday is a marker.

If the Holoecho is deployed first, then the Fiday can't deploy in b2b because you cannot deploy in b2b with an enemy.

Indeed, Arkhos94 gave the answer. Holochoes still has to respect the Deployment rules, and those block you from deploying Engaged.
