Do you think there is any way we will see a mixed link or Harris option for these guys down the road?
There's already a Govad Haris, whre you can run an HMG, but imo it loses out to a pure Muyib Haris with a Spitfire due to lack of Dogged.
They have the Haris option. And i dont think they are performing bad enough to be supplied with better linkable unit (not much of them in the HB) nor they are expensive enough to got the mixup with cheaper units like Ghulam. They have better range on SWC weapons, access to Number 2, BTS, i think they only lack a doctor and i will always pick them first for Core option against Ariadna or other Camo heavy armies. But, i would gladly welcome the option to link them with remotes, since they have Hackerinoos.
I did not see a Harris option in the Army builder. My apologies if it is there, will re-look today. Update: just found it, quite embarrassing. I guess I would still like mixed links for them since that is all the rage, but a Harris works too. If I am not yet wrong again, it looks like only Muyibs and Asawiras can do a mixed Harris and no one does a mixed Core link for the sectorial (outside of special character add-ins). Is that accurate?
Yes, only Asawiras plus Muyibs in a haris. Don't forget about Leila or Yasbir (non infiltrator) counts as Muyibs to form fireteams. I love the haris Asawira Doctor + Asawira Spitfire + Leila or a Muyib with Mines/Emauler. So damm good... :D Only for this I love play hassasin
Not that they wouldn't be nice to have with some centerpiece-type model to spice them up. Hassassins definitely could - in my opinion - use a big, flashy centerpiece model of some kind. A TAG, or a superheavy infantry in the S5 size (say, an Al Fasid on loan from Ramah). Now then linking it into a Govad Haris... ut that's merely wishful thinking on my part.
Govads are very good, the problem is, Muyibs are very good with access to more tools, and character/mixed link options.
Veteran is really useful in some matchups too, with the proliferation of Jammer. As a Varuna player, I'm more worried about seeing Govads than about seeing Muyibs.
Having played against Varuna with both, I still find the Muyibs get more value. MSV is cool, and definitely helpful, but Dogged, Number 2, doc+ and tool selection on the Muyibs just outclass them. Prolific mines and templates in the fireteam are very strong against Varuna's midfield units. Dogged allows you to get through some of the nastier stuff and still accomplish your goals. Veteran is nice, but fairly irrelevant. I know getting Jammed isn't great, but I have never ever lost a game or even been sufficiently hamstrung by LoL or Isolation. You can still accomplish quite a bit when either of these things happen, so long as you've built a decent list. I'll take Govads against Ariadna, and maybe the Haqq mirror. When I don't know what I'm up against, I'm taking Muyibs.
A Wildcard Avicenna and someting in the 50 points Range would help a lot. Especially if you are trying to play a single CG list. Another heavy weapon for Asawiras or Ayyars wouldnt hurt either.
Certainly. I just wonder what the 50pts range model could be, and I'd really prefer a superheavy infantry. It would make a decent fire support platform, something Hassassins are short of IMO. If we were to avoid inventing a new troop (and release relevant models to clog the SKU) just for that purpose, I believe allowing an Azra'il or Al Fasid on detached duty (especially Al Fasid, they're pretty toolbox'y) would do the trick. Avicenna can already work in Fireteams among StarCo's Riot Grrls, so not a big stretch of imagination there, either :)
The Govads were designed to allow HB to have chance vs a camo army. If going to a large tournament with HB I try to bring a couple in 1 list. But I drop them if one of the scenarios needs a tailored list. The only time Govad are better than Muyibs is against a heavy camo list such as Arianna or Steel Phalanx. There are rare exceptions when Veteran is useful, but those situations aren't predictable so its not that useful. I don't think we should hold our breath for any new link options for them. CB is revamping sectorals a couple at a time. With RTF (Rahma Task Force?) coming up I doubt HB will get any updates any time soon. QK is even farther behind. The last time all the sectorals got upgraded, QK was nerfed, with links and wildcards removed. Note: I'm assuming CB is keeping the trend where Haqq models are not mixed across Sectorals (except Ghovads and remotes)
I think local meta for terrain plays the biggest role. You throw a reasonable chance of low viz terrain into the mix and govads really compare well vs muyibs
I guess it is a reasonable assumption, but then again I guess we shouldn't count on those things to be set in stone. CB may yet surprise us, like they did with Wildcard ability. And a couple of others.
Avicenna is relatively expensive and barely does anything, being honest. On the other hand, any wildcard will expand HB link options greatly, so I would probably agree on such a deal. Ideally though I think wildcard Govad is the dream here.
Ayyars could really use some better profiles to help justify taking them. An HMG might be overkill but a Spitfire would be nice to help make better use of SSL2. As it stands the Shock Marskman Rifle is ok but a plain Rifle and a Sniper are pretty underwhelming active turn weapons for a BS 13 heavy infantry that wants to be surprise shooting things.
