Simple question: Is this a legal Haris Fireteam? I'm a bit torn on that issue. I know that Patsy is a Wildcard and that she can join any Varuna Fireteam. But she's also the trooper with the actual Haris skill and it rubs me the wrong way a tiny bit that the trooper who constitues the Fireteam is playing a game of pretend in regards to her troop type. It would be much easier to swallow if there was an actual Wildcard skill. :-) And I want to play this Haris in a big tournament next week, so I want to be 100% sure that it is legal.
From the Wiki: In addition to the Fireteam Common Requirements, a Fireteam: Haris has to fulfill the following specific Requirements: Only those units specified on their Sectorial Army List can compose a Fireteam: Haris. At least one of the members of this Type of Fireteam must have the Fireteam: Haris Special Skill. A Fireteam: Haris is composed of two or three members. A player can only have a single Fireteam: Haris on the table, unless a Scenario Special Rule or some other Special Skill state otherwise. - Patsy, Machinist, and Kamau are all allowed to join a Kamau Haris in VIRD - Check - At least one member has the Haris skill, in this case it's Patsy - Check - We have 3 members - Check - This is the only Haris - Check Yep, that hits all requirements.
It's legal. There is no restriction in the list of fireteams on who has to have the haris skill. It's a kamau haris that meets all the requirements to form.
Yup, it's a legal Haris. While Patsy is the one with the Haris skill, it's still a Kamau Haris because there is a Kamau in the team. It doesn't matter that Patsy isn't a Kamau because Patsy is a Wildcard and can join any Varuna Fireteam. And because it's a Kamau fireteam, the Varuna Machinist can join it. This has been confirmed by @ijw as valid.
Why wouldn't she work for kamau? You asked "which othe harises" and other than Kamau the only other Haris in Varuna is ORCs. Since she is a wildcard she does tthe job for any haris in Varuna, not her fault that there are only two of them.
Legal furthermore has been discussed extensively and at length. Additionally, if you somehow had to be locked by troop name, then patsy would never fill any requirements for Haris and her haris would be a pointless rule due to her status as a named character. She has Wildcard and the haris rule exactly for these circumstances
Just going to add my voice to the chorus of righteous rightness. Patsy + Varuna Machinist + Kamau HMG is a 100% legit Haris for Varuna. DO IT !
In a similar vein; can a regular Kamau/Varuna Engineer duo-link with a Squalo or Patsy? I think they should be able to, but just not 100% sure.
