(0 | 3) 7 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army We are doing a 300pt Limited Insertion tournament soon, and I was thinking of using MO this go around. This list is pretty much all the MO models I have at the moment so please let me know if you think it would work and how to improve it. HRL Order Sergeant and the magister knights form 5 man Teutonic Link team and provide a core of blast template weapons for defense or area denial. Joan and Father Knight form a hard hitting duo link team and go on the aggressive. Santiago KHD and Multi Sniper Black Friar to deal with the more troublesome enemies. Doc and Palbot to help keep everyone going a bit longer and to add another specialist.
I dont know what tables you play on, but I would be hard pressed to play this. The HRL is a pretty weak attack piece at burst 3 against fireteams and on a very fragile unit. The missile launcher actually makes the problem worse by lowering the burst. If there are too many strong AROs and/or long range board control, you may find yourself unable to leave the deployment zone. The BF multisniper is one of the most questionable choices available to MO boasting msv and bs13 but little else to help justify his place. As a result he is often taken out with ease and you find yourself down a considerable investment. You have a meager two specialists and the one that could be extremely helpful in a link is sitting out so that magisters can be used for ARO duty. There are much more efficient ways to move specialists up the field such as having them in a link team or infiltrating as the TOFOOS. The lists limited specialists also makes it easy to shut down. The KHD actually makes this worse if he's not in a link as he turns suicidal and loses the benefit of cover from doing his job. The Joan duo is interesting but leaves your obvious LT quite exposed without help from extra burst, SSL2 or the BS bonus and so relies on help covering their blindspots and hackers going after her. If you go up against CA, Haq or JSA you will have a big problem keeping her alive turn one and two. Your arent really maximizing Joan's inspiring leadership to help you take more beefy HI and have a more robust smaller list and instead you have a couple key pieces with one wound. Those are the primary issues I would have with a list like this. Depending on your meta and the scenarios, these problems may be alleviated or exacerbated, but I think they still exist as potential problems in the list. Much of your list is relying on raw stats to punch through rather than a lot of help from mods or stripping mods outside of the sniper. As a result you can find yourself sensitive to lists running a fair amount of mimetism, camo, odd and the like so bad matchups would come from Steel Phalanx, Shock Army, Ariadna, Varuna, Avatar lists and several other archetypes or even singular units such as the Swiss Guard/Hac Tao. I hope this helps you see potential issues. I know this wasnt a very glowing critique of the list, but I think you should really be considering pain trains with limited insertion as this is the archetype that really makes MO shines traditionally. Further just assessing the durability of your guns and their reach should be fairly high in PanO as many of our sectorials have looked to the big guns for answers. And finally considering what difficulties you can make for your opponent to deal with and what will be difficult for you to deal with. I find it difficult to say, "bring this" as you say you have a limited model pool and I dont want to railroad you. I think if you're aware of your limitations and plan very carefully you can do okay with your list.
I might try a variant like this: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 4 MAGISTER KNIGHT Missile Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 32) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 23) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 23) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 23) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant (Specialist Operative) Spitfire, Nanopulser, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 43) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, D-Charges + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 38) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (Fireteam: Haris, MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 36) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER HMG / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 39) ORDER SERGEANT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) 5.5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army You have the Hospitaller Knight Haris team to shoot your way out if you really need to, and still have the strong ARO option of the Magister Missile Launcher, but now it gets replaced by an aggressive Santiago Fireteam when it goes down.
In general yes. In practice you don't want to have both Haris + Core next to each other, which then nullyfies the idea of merging the link together once someone take loses (and hopefully those are not Hospitallers nor Santiagos).
In general I'd expect to lose the Magister ML and then swap in whichever Santiago I didn't initially put into the Fireteam. But the idea of having a viable alternate 5-Core is good for certain situations, especially if my opponent deploys first and doesn't leave any significant AROs up, making a Magister rush a viable tactic.
