Just a heads up guys, AI beacons got changed to where if they land in the enemy DZ, they stay where they land.

Before, if it landed in the enemy deployment zone, you were allowed to place it in your deployment zone in contact with a table edge, presumably in a very safe location.

    They nerfed nothing.
We were using a not intended advantage.

I don't think I ever tried to drop an Imetron so far forwards that they would land in my opponent's DZ

You cannot. It's not allowed to deploy there. If you scatter there, OTOH...

    Why can't you deploy there?

    It's just a clarification, not a change.

Nah, it's definitely a change. Previously AI beacons like troops with AD, got bounced back to your dz board edge if they dispersed in the enemy dz.

@tox incorrect, the rules were explicit on the topic.

Mind citing that rule? Because it didn't work that way, not with AI Beacons, not with Combat Jump. You could definitely jump into enemy DZ.

I think Hecaton was referring to the fact that you couldn't previously Disperse into the DZ, not that you couldn't choose to land there.

OK, I see what you're saying, but there's a problem with that. It works like that, and I quote, "if the dispersed element is a troop". AI Beacons aren't troops, they're deployable equipment.

Yeah they didn't change anything, lots of people have just been doing it wrong is how it looks to me.

Then AD wouldn't work to begin with on AI Beacons, since it uses language like the game element using it is a trooper. It's also leftover language from when templates used to scatter. The game is not consistent with the "troop" vs. "equipment" differentiation, so...

Looks like all your master strategies of trying to get an AI beacon to scatter into your opponent's DZ are now no longer valid.

No, it was an explicit change. I hope it's not like the Shock/NWI change a few faqs ago where enough people misinterpreted the rules that they decided to make it canon...

    It's definitely a nerf.

Well, maybe more of a non-branded foam blaster where the springs fail after a few shots and the suction cups on the darts don't stick rather than an actual Nerf.

I get the intent behind it though, dropping your AI beacon into the opponent's DZ shouldn't be rewarded.
