This seems like a really strong play - it can't be killed, it solves the problem of having to juggle your datatracker and xenotech onto the objective.

I'm pretty sure it's legal, but is this widely known?

That does not apply to the Xenotech. Otherwise it would generate an irregular order. HVTs are civilians and are neither irregular nor regular.

It does. But being a NEUTRAL CIVILIAN no one is ever authorized to use it.

It is in the army list of the player who has it. Even if you were right, you could still do it with Billy or Joan.

The Datatracker has to be a trooper. Xenotechs are Civilians, not troopers.

Even if I agreed with that (which I don't), where does it say that Xenotechs are troopers?

Why not? It's in your army list.

    Because I say no ^^

if that isnt enough, the Xenotech is considered a Neutral Civilian for both players and Civilian is a game element with a Troop Profile that does not belong to the Army List of any player.
    http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Civilian_Rules

So it isnt in your army list.

I love the Xenotech. Really. I love all this stuff - Data Tracker, Bravery, everything. And the Extreme Mode Option! If there is only one person happy with it, it's me.

I really don't want to bother... I am just getting a bit confused. I need to ask.

    Why does it say:
"All players must include a Xenotech in his Army List without any
cost and without taking up any spaces in a Combat Group."
    ITS-10 Rules, p.17

It is explicitly written and it is the difference between the Xenotech and the HVT. What is the meaning of it? Why is it written there?
(Until now, I assumed, you can do all the stuff civilians are up to with the Xenotech and the HVT.)

You can't do it because the Xenotech is not a trooper.

@HellLois the xeotech rules say it is part of your army list, contradicting the civilian rules. Which is it?

@ijw the rules aren't consistent over how precise the "trooper" terminology is meant to be taken.

Why are you arguing with the guy that writes the ITS rules on how the rule works?

I mean, I get calling out inconsistencies and alternate ways to interpret rules in unexpected and twisted ways is your seeming raison d'etre on this board, I even believe that you believe you're doing it for a good reason, but why is a direct, quick, and definitive answer not enough?

Because what's in the rules is what's relevant, not what he says.

Because posting an answer on a forum is a real bad way to disseminate rules for your game.

OK, it's taken this long since ITSX was released for someone to come up with this loophole (and as has been pointed out, the RAW is contradictory, not clear cut either way) and rather than waiting for the next round of FAQs you get an immediate answer?
    Yeah, that's just terrible /s

It also took this long from when ITSX was released to come up with a FAQ that made Xenotech even really playable, so... overall the situation's a mess.
