Apparently there has been exactly four people who have used IA at a registered ITS event. I know one of these people personally, as I ran the event. Who are the other three? Remember, registered ITS event, not just any tournament.
Now there's 5. I got promoted from judge to player when someone called in sick after first game had started and had forgot to send in lists. As a result, one of the lists I now sent in is inaccurate as I restructured it yesterday. (I'm omw to another tournament with IA in the bags now, it was hard finding good proxies for Zhencha)
I don't think so, im since IA dropped i saw at least 6 players using it (including myself). Anyway is not the easiest army to use (mistakes punish a lot more) and can understand that without a lot of time to train some people prefer SI or vanilla for a tournement
Are you 100% sure it was a registered ITS event (and that these players remembered to submit their lists)? I made the thread on the back of the CB blog post on ITS 10 data
i don't think this data is the total of people that played this faction in all year, is more people that have this faction active in the Infinity Its porfile. Beacuse i have seen before 31th of december more than 2 varunas and far more than 4 invencible army in a offical tournements ( and i know beacuse my elo has been affected). Anyway it's normal that IA is low just in one month
@HellLois the numbers from your blog don't seem to add up from player accounts. How are these statistics being determined out of curiosity?
You have to take into account that this data is only for September, October and November, and Varuna an Invincible are new armys (opened in November) and if the player dont upload the army list to the OTM that player dont add uses to the army. ;)
Incubation time on new armies showing up in the stats is like quarter to half a year after release for people to buy and paint models, find time to do stuff etc. Considering the last ITS stats it's actually no surprise that JSA is the most played Sectorial right now, compared to it's release window that already was the case relatively speaking for the last time we got official numbers. Varuna is more than popular as well, so only 2 events played sounds off until you consider the players just didn't have time to get their stuff ready (or simply didn't have any models and were avoiding proxies). So give it some time.
Took IA to our ITS soldiers of fortune event yesterday. Two major wins and a narrow loss to finish 4th. One list made use of soldiers of fortune but the other didn't. Played against TAK, JSA and Tunguska (loss was against Tunguska).
Was the loss to TJC down to their hacking prowess? It seems like info war is part of IA's Jerchilles heel but I'm interested to know if that played out on the table.
Nope, my opponent didn't even bring a proper hacker. It came down to me needing 3-4 orders to pass a wip check and him doing it first time, every time. Hacking wasn't an issue. I didn't lock down the table enough and everything he needed to go right in the last turn did. The only time hacking become even the slightest concern over the event was the second game against JSA, who had hired Uhahu to aid them in their fight against such concerns. It did him no good in the end, I suffered a successful hack only once and my shang ji assault hacker could be considered more of a threat in the match up. The value of the shang ji was actually pretty high because I took the assault hacker who still brings a combi and light flame thrower. The template weapon really helps link teams in pushing up the table against lots of camo.
Assuming we're talking about a core link here, what's the reasoning behind this statement in a general sense? Disregarding any attachment to a Shang Ji (or Tai Sheng) in this conversation. You can Intuitive attack at WIP+3 as an entire order to attack. Or you can do a Discover+Shoot at (after Camo) WIP+3 and then fire with your full link burst instead of a burst 1 template. For unlinked models the template weapon is helpful for attacking camo markers. But for pain trains they don't actually need the help from my experience thanks to inherent bonuses and simply having a stack of models on hand that can reattempt failed attempts to discover stuff.
You've covered most of it, when facing lots of camo I tend to find that multiple markers will lie within 8" of each other and if there is anything discovered within range you can place the template to catch them all and reveal them. There's the risk that you set off multiple mines which is where the shang ji comes in ever so slightly better due to 4 points of armour and fire stops opponents from re-camo'ing if they somehow survive.
In the end I used the rather massive Daofei with HMG. Dominating presence, but a bit massive compared to what the Zhencha does
I'm not counted on the chart, but I'll be playing in a Satellite with IA this weekend. No expectations, but I figure it'll be . NB I'm using an old Domaru sculpt for my Zencha
