Yea because MO has a good sniffer coverage ;P (or orders to endevour some HD search) Also that doesnt work if you go 2nd ;P
MSV doesn’t work if you go second? 2 pathfinders + a fugazi is only 40 points, so that’s fairly decent coverage. It’s an option, for sure.
Army has MSV2 on the profile. Check it out. @eciu I completely agree the lack of orders argument. It’s often a waste. But if the OP knows exactly what he’s up against, why not?
Guys, I'm in desperate need of help with MO. I've been doing tons of lists (LI as it's what we play mostly) and I cannot manage to create a list that really makes me say "Ok, this is it, I'm comfortable with this" without depending on a TAG (be it the Seraph or the Tikbalang). I've tried Magister/Teuton core, Hospitallers, Crusade Fireteam, Sargeants with Black Friar and Father Knight, a super mixed core with Santiagos...it's like I cannot manage to make them work no matter what. They are slow, hard to put them in cover whenever I need to and above everything else...super expensive, especially if I want a core with HMG, Missile Launcher or Spitfier and at least 1 specialist. Most of the time I feel forced to pick Joan only because I can put Tech-Bee and Warcor and have 2 regular orders for 8 points, but I'm paying 49 points for Inspiring Leadership and I cannot even use her as she has to be hidden or else she gets killed and everything crumbles away. Anyone had success with new Military Orders? I was really hyped with 3rd Offensive and at first, I liked the changes, but after soo many lists and a few games, I really feel like we need to have the possibility of an Order Sargeant Lt, Montesa needs smoke and I'd kill for Joan to be able to, at least, go into Haris fireteams. I'm not asking her to be Wildcard, but c'mon...she can't even join a Hospitallers haris...and that'd be awesome (Joan + Hospitaller Doc Haris + HMG). Being forced to either form the Crusade fireteam (which is shit given that once you lose one member you are "forced" not to break the fireteam) or a duo with a Santiago...
This is the kind of thing I'm toying with for LI now: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 3 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. Coordinated Magisters are actually a pretty solid answer to basically any ARO threat, which makes the lack of a HMG option hurt less.
That's not the bug. That's a feature. Someone said that MO should be gimped while list building at this is a result.
Well, I only played once without a TAG as I'm trying to see what I can do WITH a TAG in MO lists. But the list was pretty effective and with better decisions and less lack of luck for myself I would have secured a massive victory. I did it at each game and the causes of my two lost games out of 5 were only me making wrong decisons and critical crits from my opponent. Is MO unforgiving about making the wrong decisions? Yes. You have access to a hell of possibilities but you have to be a good player to make the good calls. And that's what I like : easy to learn, hard to master in a game that is already like this. Success in MO and you will be a hell of a player to play against. PS: I don't say I'm that good (I make too much mistakes to pretend to be) as I'm losing nearly as much as I win with MO at the moment but I see what can be done if you are a good one. It's like playing Genji or Leblanc and making mistakes and plays. You feel that you can do so much more but you're not good enough (yet?) to be consistent in plays without diying in the process half of the time.
I played this just 2 days ago: Spoiler: Tiktik Tiktik ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 TIKBALANG OF MONTESA (Religious Troop) AP HMG, Heavy Flamethrower / DA CCW. (1.5 | 15) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army It was against JSA in Frosbyte. All I had to use was the Tikbalang. It was the datatracker, so it had an extra order. I used the Tikbalang first against a total reaction bot. I didn´t have cover, but still managed to beat it using the mimetism. After advancing a bit the Tikbalang engaged two keisotsus with missile launchers. It was at range closer than 60 cm so the Tikbalang was on 15s while the Keisotsus where on 7s, burst 2 vs burst 2, risky, but it was enough to beat them both in a single order. After that, I could use the TAG to keep running through the mid table, using climbing plus to go on rooftops and get LoF against two more Keisotsus and a motorcycle that happened to be a Lu Duan. The Tikbalang ended up on top of a high building on Suppressive Fire, and with the last order the Santiago and OS link was able to move and make the OS with rocket launcher cover part of the table. So my oponent had half of his force dead or unconcious and couldn´t do that much. Yojimbo with the koalas wasn´t far from the Tikbalang so he approached, but my OS TO sniper revealed and he had to face both. The Tikbalang SF did nothing, but the Koalas didn´t pass the TAG´s armor also. The sniper got a crit and killed Yojimbo. A karakuri tried to advance, but she was shot down by the OS rocket launcher. After that in my second turn I just used the Santiago knights to kill another karakuri and a domaru, forcing retreat on next turn. With the rest of the orders I could just reposition to take all possible points and score 10-0. So well, it was a victory, and my troops received 0 wounds. But to be honest, feels like it was mostly due to risking the Tikbalang from the first order and being lucky enough to win the game almost immediately by impairing the enemy before he could do anything. So not so much to do with the actual features of MO I guess.
Also generic PanO and have lots of support for the TAG with cheap orders, Crocman, Auxilias, etc. But well who knows. Maybe if the Tikbalang didn't perform so incredibly effectively on just a few orders I would've needed to use the Santiago Knights to do some actual work!
That one, not so well. I got totally out-played in Supremacy after losing the Lt roll-off and failing to do enough damage with first turn. Then struggled in Decap with taking out the Designated Target after it got pulled behind enemy lines. Firefight went ok, but was still a narrow loss after they picked out the Knights. I ran this against a double-Grey-core Caledonia in Firefight last night: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 8 2 3 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 8) 4 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army It did hilariously well, with the Doctor taking out McMurder with a well angled Suppression Fire burst as he moved in on Joan and one Magister tearing through both Grey-lead Core teams after they advanced into my half of the table to actually reach my stuff. The Magisters and Bulleteer did most of the work, with the HMG getting picked out early on, but it was a fairly dense table so the range disadvantage didn't hurt too much. It certainly was funny playing PanOceania 3 SWC short!
Would you consider Joan v2? maybe drop a DA ccw magister to AP? Or you only use her to cordinate and never advance up?
I considered Joan v2 for this list, but was worried about being aggressive with her in a list with no CoC. I will probably be giving her a go soon, but combined with a KotHS CoC.
What went quite good for me was an aproach with one haris and one pseudo-haris core link: Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 2 SPEC. (0 | 8) 5.5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army The Teutonic-Core makes all of the work when the Hospitaller-HMG has cleared their way out of the DZ. In addition to this, the TOFOOS are doing what they always do: fill the hole or clear other ways. Normally the HMG dies in the first turn (or get killed by his brother) and the Teutons are chewed in the second and third turn, but for a high price. Went well against ALEPH and vanilla Nomads so far. The KHD-Santiago made good as datatracker and the last back-up, when everything else failed. There were two main ideas behind this list: Full core-links are bulky and hard to manage, while the additional burst is the greatest benefit. So reducing the link-size to three felt very good for me. The second idea was the possible order efficiency of Magisters. Having them in the enemy half of the table in second turn and nearly every situation (except from being dead), is a threat to nearly everything. Linked with the Teuton they will shoot everything moving and otherwise they freak out and do the same on their own. Of course, it is no easy play, because MLs and smoke with MSVs can ruin everything, without having any responses. But that is what you have to learn.
Ok, I now what's my current problem with TOFOOS: - You usually cannot run 2 combat groups. - You usually cannot now afford to have a TOFOOS sitting in HD till the 3rd turn.
Hello fellow knights. Here is my take on new MO, for me it was a hard transition from playing old way (i.e. taking three fusiliers and adding everything else) and creating a meaningful list with two combat groups and enough orders in each of them. This list still goes through testing but after a couple of games i'm more then satisfied with what it can do on the table.
