Freezing in place is definitely something humans do in panic situations.

    It isn’t Fight or flight.

In real life it is Fight, flight, or freeze.

I'm not sure I like stunned, but i'd like to see 'suppressed' as a state. So that unit is -3 on all FTF for the next order or ARO they take, and then its cleared. Then you could standardize regular suppression fire to use the same state reference and baddabing baddaboom you got a fire cooking.

I wish that guts came into play a bit more, because it often just doesn't, but hey ho.

I also think that it makes sense that most troops would have to take a guts check. After all, getting shot at doesn't trigger it, getting hit by bullets and surviving triggers it, and while combat may be scary, and being fired at is scary, taking a round or two is probably more scary even to a hardened soldier, and even if it isn't then you still could be momentarily winded or knocked off your feet!

    Allow me to illustrate:

I would link videos of people just proning in the middle of open ground during mass shootings but I'm pretty sure that would get me banned. But there's plenty of footage out there thanks to the yearly american cycle, and the unfortunate events continuing to go on in europe.

While I agree civilians tend to be more likely to fall into the non fight categories I'm curious what the reaction of trained military (especially more elite units) is under fire and actually taking hits. From all the videos I've seen of US troops getting shot at in various desert settings they tend to get mad, swear and shoot back rather than cower. If one gets hit away from the rest, well Dogged isn't so common in real life and the rest of the troops try to figure out how to casevac the wounded out.

Rules wise I just find it tends to be a randomly issued skill (at least from a USAriadna perspective). Marauders get it from being Dogged but for some reason Minutemen (who are supposed to be more elite as I understand) don't have any version. A Dozer Engineer or 112 Doc has it but not a behind enemy lines Foxtrot. Desperado biker gangs don't care about automatic fire and rockets coming at them but army trained recon Mavericks are scared of them...

I also find that just the elite nature of the game and the forces involved that maybe instead of a Courage rule there should be a Craven one instead to highlight those units who are not the elite specialists our forces tend to be made up of and who will be less likely to hold ground.
