Which unit do you value the most? Not necessarily the best unit in your list, but the unit you consistantly get the most value out of. For example, I feel that either a Sukeul with HMG or ML are my lists best units. But I feel points for points, Makauls can get alot of work done for a 13pt model. While they usually grind out tasks in a support role, Makauls can turn deadly in close combat or shooting against the right target. Against the right list Makauls( as part of a triad) can become a defacto Rambo triad unit and really deal out some damage. Any thoughts?
This three yeah I like nearly all Tohaa Units but symbiomates, sukeul and makaul take the cake ;) I am not saying kaeltar cause honestly the unit itself is nice but its mates that I like ;)
By far, the unit that's given me the best kill/cost ratio is the kerail with one surda beast. And it's super fun to use and see the terror in the eyes of my oponent =D
our best unit is makaul. because of a few things. triads move in eclipse smokes. makaul provides 2 for us in alink. they are needed in almost all triads. makauls are ext impetious normally, but not in the links. heavy flames are very dangerous weapons and you have 2 burst for you in triads in both defence and offence.
Do you think they're under costed in the context you describe? Being that Makauls are in triads 95% of the time, are they under costed? If I had to choose between a kaeltar (w. S.Mates) unit or a Makaul unit, it would be Makauls ever so slightly. Kaeltar, specialist, Light shotgun with CoC are amazing utility pieces in their own right. That shotgun has done a heap of work for me. While CoC (+S.Mate) cements any lieutenant rambo list Tohaa play.
My hero unit? Nikoul. Seems to cause more headaches than he should. Usually causes my opponents to work around him.
it is a design choice. You need makauls in tohaa. if i need to tell best ones. here is my first 5 for tohaa in order. 1. makaul 2. keltar coc 3. sakiel paramedic 4. sukeul hmg 5. chaksa baggage
There really isn't a bad unit (questionable loadouts) but nothing in tohaa is really obsolete. I've been having a lot of success with kerail preceptors both double and single sundra beasts. It's has helped that most of my opponents of late have lacked msv2 but these units have destroyed well above their points costs.
Neema LT is very good for obvious reasons, and combos well with other units (Symbioboms). I try tobuse her in most of my list. But the best Tohaa unit is definitely the Delegate. She's in all my lists (cheap order, specialist, roadblock). All the goodies with no extra fat, like the Blackjack
The Rasail has done ungodly amounts of work for me, along with Ectros and his vulkan shotgun, due to how tight all of the local terrain is.
was going to say Neema as well, but i really like the Gorgos... her and her little buddy always seem to go the extra mile for me. that said, all the minis are great and none really stands alone :) teamwork among them is what wins the day. (might sound a little too happy, but tired of hearing all the complaining lately :D ) -Rom
I am actually a fan of the Kosuil. I know everyone ditches them in favor of the Sukeul, but I always stick a Kosuil in my list. Part of it might be because I think the Kosuil looks a billion times better than the Sukeul (which is the ugliest Tohaa unit ever). I always seem to have good luck with the Kosuil. He's even taken out an Avatar with the help of a brave Chaksa holding a Heavy Flamethrower. I am also a fan of the Chaksa with Smart Rocket Launcher. Most Tohaa players go for the HMG, but I prefer Rockets. My opponents will often out shoot the HMG, but something about a cover denying circle of fire tends to make them think twice. I know people claim burst is king, but there is something to be said about psychological warfare.
Whilst the usual suspects all do OK work, the ones that cause most headaches to my opponents are my preceptor team and the holoprojecting, super jumping 6-4 spitfire. I tend to play on dense boards with plenty of verticality and these guys are lethally quick and can attack from odd angles they weren't expecting
I'm a big fan of the Armadaan and the Tiburos. Daozos has been nice but I've never really loved Tohaa TAGs.
Sorry but in my opinion, Daozos is a very good tag, especially if you are not expecting to see camo troops. Yes it has not so much structure points, put anyways he is very reliable in long range with that Pulzar cannon. Armadaan lacks good stats but with that symbiobugs, he is one of my favorites these days too. Forward deployment plus bugs gives a good defensive denial which we seek for. Tiburos. well i dont use much but he is ok. ambush camo on an unit with short range weapons not very fruitful but still gives a good way of hiding the mines coming from likes nikoul and kosuils. I try to use Matail these days. Although, it is a not linked, odd plus hmg seems very nice for me and i started use it instead of sukeuls. Well, yes he is expensive but that model is really gorgeous. I dont use symbiont bugs version since it has short range weapon. I prefer my destroyer in good range.
Matail is okay. It's in Taqeul territory for me. You've been playing too much ALEPH, you've confused the Tiburos and the Luloah Ranger. Tiburos blows my mind. Nanoscreen MI is perfect to link with the Gao-Rael, I take the the Combi+Nanopulser Lt Tiburos all the time. The other big game changer has been Dukuuls and Pakaarus. Weak for REMs but finally an excellent reason to take White Hacker Kamaels.
Tiburos moves slow but, they became a nice team with gaoreels. actually before that, i was using gaoreel sniper only in defensive links. Now i have a chance to use this couple together in offensive way too. Tiburos combi lt + gaoreel spitfire + Tiburos flammenspear is my favorite link now. i move with tiburos flammenspear send the missiles. in second movement i make my link leader gaoreel spitfire and again making an attack with spitfire. This way most of the time, i dont need a makaul at all. Dukuuls , i will try this weekend. they seemed to weak at first sight but must see them on the table.
