The ITStatistics blogpost's statistics on the most used units has got me wondering what the reverse would look like, the least used units for each faction and sectorial. Leaving aside the Spec-Ops, what do you guys think the three least used units would be for each army?
I’ve never managed to find any space for ALEPH’s Penthesilea. 1 1 PENTHESILEA Combi Rifle, Contender, Nanopulser / Pistol, Monofilament CCW. (0 | 41) 0 SWC | 41 Points Open in Infinity Army Given the game brazenly grooves on Akira and Appleseed, I think it's borderline criminal that - despite my best efforts (and the fact she reminds me of a particular girlfriend), I can't seem to get any value out of an AI generated hot-chick killing machine on a superbike. I presume it has a lot to do with her high cost in a very expensive faction, that she has no ITS Specialist profiles, and maybe also related to needing fairly open tabletops. I’m really not the best player and very new to the faction though, and duly note that @csjarrat’s update of the Steel Phalanx unit breakdown isn't particularly negative. So maybe some of the more seasoned Aspects can confirm, deny or provide further granularity. (@csjarrat @xagroth @Stiopa @Nemo No Name et al)
Do you consider the whole unit or only some loadouts ? For example, while yuans yuans are not a rare sight in some armies, i'm pretty sure the rifle yuan yuan is never picked - who want to pay close to twice the price to have a BS9 rifle instead of an autohiting chainrifle ?
I would suggest following in unsorted order: Tohaa: - Taqeul - Ectros - Igao - Aida Onyx: - Suryats - ? Nomads: - Wildcats - Lupe - Carlota -
Aleph Apart from the ones I don´t have (Patroculus, Phönix, Marut) or that have no minis (Arunja): Proxy MK for OSS, because I rarley have the SWC Achilles for SP - I´m not a fan of the super rambo Penny - it´s a shame, I like her so much, but same as above Nomads (CJC only) Carlotta - waits for paint and even then, mostly the normal Tomcat is cheaper and will do Morans - yes very unusal but I realy, realy don´t like the minis, they are so ugly - I use Spec Op as proxy Lunokhod - I like it, but when it comes to remots, you choose something other Yu Jing Guilang - only have the sniper Zuyong - this will change when I got the IA Starterbox ISS Lunah - I try to squeeze her in, but most times I favour the bao for a sniper
Stuff I play/have played, and this discounts the smart missile bot, since it's prob going to be one of the lowest in any faction where it doesn't link. ASA: Kirpal, Rao, Dragoes JSA: Karakuri, Yuriko, and maybe the Daiyokai? The Karakuri are great, I just rarely see them on the table. Maybe Shikami as well for that reason, but some players think they are playable for some reason... Vanilla YJ: Zhanying, Bao, Sun Tze Sniper some best guess for other factions: Aleph: Andromeda, Thamyris, Apsara Steel Phalanx: Andromeda, Thamyris, maybe the base Agema? Tohaa: Kerail, Kosuil (take a minute to look at the Kosuil engineer and then at the Sukeul FO), Kotail
For Nomads, the Prowler doesn't get a lot of use, because it's slower and marginally better at shooting than the Zero, but much more expensive, doesn't have mines etc. The Spitfire is really cool but 2 SWC which makes it hard to fit. Not a terrible unit, but underused I think. Probably the only disappointing Nomad troop IMO.
I think you might be one of the few people in existence that actually use the Bao. Hell you can't even convince most ISS players to use them and they can link the buggers.
I am a few of the people that have a fully painted ISS army but no Rui Shi. Hsien sometimes is too expensive and I feel umcomfortable with a ISS (most MSV options in a sectorial) list without a msv so yes, I use baos. Sometimes, but not often, even in a link.
I like the prowler and use him a lot, but IDK what it is that makes him so expensive. I feel like he's paying a ton of points taxes in 2019 that other units aren't. I think for me I've never seen (or heard of) an Ekdromoi on the board. On paper they look fine, but anyone who wants to use one takes Diomedes.
In the breakdown he's just not being negative for purpose of not being negative. It's somehow considered a plus to pretend things are good. Penthesilea is... Okayish. You really need to spend a lot of time playing with her before you learn how to have her performing well. Couple of important points are: resist temptation to use her Impetuous order if there's AROs (even if they seem weak AROs), keep her for turns 2 or even 3, don't leave her midfield - either keep her in your DZ or drive all the way and clean stuff up. I've never stuck with playing her long enough to make her properly work.
I seriously doubt it's anything mentioned. I would be very surprised if it's not the various mercenaries, especially the irregular variety, that see the least use. Miranda Ashcroft (irregular) Cube Jaegars Knauf I imagine these three are at the bottom of nearly every faction/sectorial.
I'm an Ariadna/USARF/TAK player. I find Cube Jaegars to be nice as a AD2 specialist that isn't too expensive in a faction that doesn't have to use SWC if it doesn't want to. My list would be something like this: Minutemen - tried a few times but keep going to Marauders unless mission really needs them Unknown Ranger - too expensive for what you get Mormaers - Vet kazaks just so much better I just really dislike most Ariadna Heavy Infantry beside the Vet Kaz and Blackjack. Just expensive for what you get or skills/profiles that don't complement.
I've certainly been on the receiving end of Penny at least once. She was a pain, but also one time I was very happy that sniper ABH has two Breaker pistols. Sure, Penny has a bit of BTS on her, but it was still preferable to being limited to a basic pistol most snipers are at that range. My opponent started the game by clearing the way with Atalanta first though. Popped the Nisse and Father-Knight, lost her to Black Friar and then ran Penny straight into my DZ. Sounds like a standard plan for biker troops. If you want to see what least used troops are, they're usually the guys that got updates recently. For PanO it would be Father-Knights, Order Sergeants, Teutons and Sepulchres. From my PanO collection Sepulchre and Aquila were the least used so far, though that may change with recent Sepulchre update. For Nomads it's definitely Prowlers, they compete with Spektrs too much in that role/points bracket. Like mentioned by other people, I rarely take Carlotta for a spin, despite her being one of the first models I bought and the one that got me into the game in the first place. Zondcats have also proven to be more of a liability or gimmick than an actually useful tool in most cases.
Looking at the in-faction Haqq lineup it is actually difficult to find a profile that I would think is very unpopular. Anything I don't use I know for a fact many others do a great deal (Hafza, Tuareg, Maggie). It seems every time I've seen someone mention that something is underused in the Haqq section there are other people who chime in to say they use it all the time. Outside of the obvious sectorial options (Mobile Brigada, Alguacils)... My guesses would be (in no particular order): Sekban Halqa Zamira Yasbir
Lol. All the conversations about Zamira start and end with, “take someone else.” I’ve used her, but not often. I would maybe throw the Azra’il in your hat, but only because I don’t use it.
I considered it. I don't use it either because I prefer the Al'Fasid's kit but I suspect some folks out there are dropping a Feuerbach in a firelane or are attracted by the AP HMG. It is certainly close to the bottom.
SMR and TR Baggage bots are quite rare in my opinion. Yasibir and Zamira in Haqq, i would also add Mobile Brigada in Qapu, unless you need Stun rifle then theres no need to deploy him. Does anyone have Halqa minis? In vanillaAriadna i would ick Briscards, Airborne Rangers, Unknown Soldier, and Bruant. Prolly i would add Minutemens, Marauders, Moblots and Mormaers to that list.
I believe the thread is referring to units, rather than individual profiles within those units. Yes, and I use the profile regularly. I included them in my list as I know others do not use them.
I’ve played with halqa a few times. While fun, it wouldn’t hurt to give them a little rework. That might help us see them on the table more frequently. They are pretty cool though.
