joining a team would make it better, sure. mebbe i've just had bad luck with mine when i've tried it, but it has never been worth its points. although, mebbe it was worth the points for fun in the game when i spent all turn reloading bugs and then putting them into standby
Chaksa with Baggage is only 10 points... Makes it a great LT in Decap and Firefight. Also worth considering in Power Pack as well.
Had a game of Firefight last night, Taqeul (+ baggage bot) did a great job setting up a defensive net of bugs to protect my DT and LT from multiple drop troops. That's probably the ultimate mission for that trick, with the AD bonuses, big DZs and ITSX MI buff.
Would be cool to see some Venom-inspired stuff, like CC-oriented symbiotic unit with transmutation, 2/5 silhouette, maybe superjump & climbing+. Отправлено с моего Redmi 6A через Tapatalk
Transmutation is kind of the Sygmaa take on Symbioarmour, but I dig it. Would love something like that.
I'm really excited about what CB is coming up with for us. And I'll be really relieved if it turns out to be real (I can't get rid of the doubts). Can you imagine CB also being inspired by the great ideas of Magonus and the Forum? Or are they more like to avoid that consciously? I'm talking about https://lonelyartichoke.wordpress.com/2018/03/20/tohaa-skunkworks-poll/ https://lonelyartichoke.wordpress.com/2018/04/04/skunkworks-poll-round-2/
I wouldn't bet on that. I just hope they will find a way to fix us without compromising our uniqueness (Symbionts) and obsession with number 3. However, this is CB and we could possibly end up even more broken than before =D
My gut reaction is to guess that we will see a simplification of the triad rule. With units being able to link with themselves and then a few wild card units (Makaul/Kamael/Kumotail?). Then a few new units? Maybe one of the various trident points and probably a tweak of some of the rules. (Symbio Mates might switch to more like a tinbot type unit?) Then a proliferation of new units with Pheroware tactics.
CB is too protective of their IP to include those things, I'm afraid. The change you're suggesting would neuter Tohaa. I don't see this happening. Triad rules aren't nearly half as complex as all the new Fireteam rules in newer sectorials (TAK, Tunguska, OSS, IA)
I guess we have a different definition of the word "simplification": Now, if they have "Fireteam:Triad" they can link together. If they don't have it, they cannot link. THAT is simple.
How is that a simplification? You literally go from "this unit can join a Triad with any other unit having the same Fireteam rule" to "this unit can create a Triad formed of themselves and units that have Wildcard rule that doesn't appear in the filters and are extremely difficult to locate".
Perhaps I should rephrase. I suspect we will see a reduction in the complexity of our available triad options.
I seriously doubt that. If they do that, they will turn Tohaa into yet another monkey sectorial with weak Fireteams (no core), much less flexibility and literally no relation to whatever fluff we had (remember, Tohaa are a very gregarious race).
Is that different from what we have now though? How many fireteams are roughly: 1 Special Weapon Guy, 1 Specialist, 1 Makaul? Of course the ones that aren't are often 3 Ectros or similar. As long as Makaul and Kamael are available as wildcards the basic structure remains the same. We might see more Kamael. And it would open up the door for more new linkable units.
I use Kaeltar instead of Makauls very often, sometimes using 2 special weapons in 1 Triad. It does happen and taking it away for no reason would be silly. And it wouldn't be simplifying stuff, like Abrilete pointed out already.
I mean I'm just speculating. But nothign I've speculated outright removed those as possibilities. 2 Special weapons in 1 triad would still be possible they would just both need to be from either a wild card unit or the same unit. As for the Kaeltar it is certainly possible they would fall under the wildcard side of things. This is of course just wild speculation. I could see arguments for any of the following units to be wild cards: Kamael, Makaul, Kumotail, Kaeltar, Kosiul. However my feeling was that they would want to reduce the number of potential options over all so that if they want to playtest or introduce new units they only have to test linking them with a handful of other units. Either way its possible some units or options could be removed or changed, thats just the nature of games. The bigger point I'm trying to make is that if they find the current Triad rule restrictive for unit testing/release which seems likely. What are ways to tweak the triad rule and allow easier unit development without outright changing everything about tohaa. Making it a more rigid/narrower system as discussed would do that. As for the simplification thing I'm not sure what more you want me to say? I acknowledged I chose a poor word to express my meaning and offered an alternative? I'm sorry?
Honestly, I'd like to see Tohaa stripped down and turned into a normal vanilla faction with no access to links, but with sectorials. Full faction access. Kind of unaligned Tohaa? Triumvirate - 3 man link spam, 0-1 Kaeltar, etc. Sygmaa - Normal sectorial links, 0-1 Kaeltar, access to some CA units. Make Gorgos lose Symbio armour and give it normal wounds.
