I am starting this thread to share our experiences, tips and tricks for the first ITS challenge. I hope I can get a few one shots this weekend in order to protect our faction from the fallout. What are your thoughts on the challenge?
I'm sorry to say, but my reaction is: roll over and play dead? I suspect we'll be losing out on Xi (specifically Xi, there were a few name hints and the only Asiatic one was Chinese-looking and Xi is our only Chinese character) for a small amount of time, so I'll be mostly working around this unless my local meta decides to not give a toss about the challenge (will be hard if Army is updated to remove the profiles) Simple maths has Pan-O winning this by a landslide. They have roughly 50% more players than Nomads and Nomads have roughly 25% more players than the next most populous faction (which I think is Yu Jing, but not by a large margin). More games means more victories even for a bad player - and we know that Pan-O isn't any worse off than any of the other factions so we can absolutely apply the rule of averages here. The only thing that could change this would be if for tournament settings the turnout is more diverse than for the BOW international campaign. That said, the only thing we can do to manipulate things is to make sure that: a) get your local TOs to organize tournaments with these missions b) try and make sure that people stay away from playing Pan-O - or at least, you know, get the people who rank highest to try other factions =) c) over-analyse the specific missions and hope that the unrevealed one doesn't out-right play against our faction's limitations. (For instance, we know that our KGB-like judiciary force is one of the worst in game at abducting people, let's hope we don't have to abduct people)
Going the "I will spend money so we win this" is never the answer for players, it's what end with, guess what, Loot Boxes, EA Style. I'd like to refer you to https://www.techpowerup.com/240655/...e-model-paper-foretells-a-dystopian-nightmare It's a presentation on how a gaming company (no prize for guessing which) would optimize it's earnings by implementing AI systems with real life data gathering so the can force you to not win until you spent as much as they estimate you can, so not a "pay to win" but a "pay to stop losing" experience. Do you want that for Infinity? I do not.
Uh...I though this was an ITS only challenge, and that it was automatically generated whenever you played a faction during one of those scenarios in a sanctioned ITS event recorded with the ITS manager? Is it some sort of play at home thing instead?
You were correct in your original assumption. The information that may be confusing you is that since one shot ITS codes allow you to register a single battle into the system, people are worried that it will cause the event to become a pay to win scenario if enough people abuse them.
@Greysturm thanks for the explanation! I really didn't understand the pay to win worry but you explained it perfectly.
I'd like to add that Hellois has adressed this (for now in the spanish part of the forum), and kudos to him. There are Satellite tournaments in the challenge, so no "pay to win" that will have a meaningful impact, and the character ban is until the new challenge starts, plus the population differences will be taken into account, aswell as the "Pano Vs Pano" giving only 1 point and not 2.
Obligatory: youhuu now Tohaa was given sure victory (as they are/have best player/faction). ^^ What a glorious can of worms those campaign are ;P On related thopic: One shot codes?
On the CB store there is the option to buy ITS packs. These packs can be the standard box with goodies and a tournament code, the digital-only version with only the code, a digital code for a league, and a digital code to make a single battle between two players.
That's odd. I remember doing a statistics run during phase 2 and I remember there being slightly over 1k Pan-O commanders registered. Both Nomads and Pan-O are down significantly from the numbers I remember, Aleph and Yu Jing are as I remember, but I recall Haqq being much bigger than Aleph so their numbers are also down significantly.
I was refering to "Nomads have 25% less players than PanO". At the end of the Wotan Nomads had more people than PanO :) (by around something like ~20-50 but still more ;))
Well, yeah, but it's like there's been a purge of commanders (probably inactive accounts, to be fair, let's not start the Wotan gripe up again).
I won a victory for yu jing yesterday but I am having trouble using the one shot. Hopefully It will help reveal a few new traitor names on the challenge page. Sun Tze and kitsune were really fun to play and did a lot of damage.
I guess by the current results that yu jing players arent very interested in the challenge for now. I hope more of us play a few ITS games to makes the faction look competitive at worst.
