Since we finally got some choice, I was curious to find out, how you prefer fighting for the AI? Are you into our fancy new androids, the ancient Greeks, or do you prefer mixing it all up? Of course, quite a few of us prefer variety, but still what is your preferred flavor of the month? Comment on why your choice has the funniest or most effective playstyle.
I’m all vanilla, as I simply can’t limit myself. Also I have a weakness for ramboing either fielding the Marut or Achilles, and those two really benefit from the synergy in vanilla.
Same for me. Former Phallanx player but in the last year mostly Vanilla with Achilles Enviado desde mi Mi A1 mediante Tapatalk
These days I'm playing OperationS, but exclusively for Asura Lt2 HD+ MULTI Rifle. And Dakini links I guess, but they were good even without links so... If Asura HD+ MULTI Rifle was available as Lt (even a regular Lt) in vanilla, there's good chance I'd be playing vanilla. I so wanted OperationS only to end up so disappointed. We didn't get a single new Dakini or Garuda profile... :(
Operations. I really like vanilla Aleph and it's wide choice of profiles and tactics (one of my favorite being the Diomedes mayhem). Having the best of each world is very nice. But i like the cold, brutal side of OSS, where murder machines and killer replicants shine the most. Linked dakinis for the long range, linked yadus for the short range, they are efficient and don't know mercy.
Played OSS-only vanilla first, then added ASS, now it's both sectorials. I don't play vanilla of any faction I collect.
OSS, at least for now. Like Stiopa I prefer Sectorials to Vanilla and choose to focus on the aspect (heh, pun) of Aleph I find most appealing.
I'm playing OS only but mostly because I have a personal dislike with the steel phalanx. I don't want to include them (I agree many profiles would be great to play and some models are even beautiful - but a man need principles) I guess some of my lists would be better if I would play vanilla [emoji1743][emoji3603]
Greek heroes day in day out. SP for style (Enomotarchos), vanilla for incredibly effective support (Nagas, Dasyus and Posthumans).
I have played some OSS and Vanilla the last month, but SP is the most fun to play for me anytime, still my favorite.
I started Vanilla and very slowly started incorporating more elements of Steel Phalanx until I decided to fill out all of Steel Phalanx. I play them occasionally when I'm in that sort of mood. I'm grabbing OSS anything as soon as it comes out. If I had to split 100% of my time between them, it'd probably look like: 70% Vanilla 25% OSS 5% Steel Phalanx
This is OSS because I waited almost too long for this sectorial. Now I wan´t to experince it in all it´s flavor. Always was a big fan of Asura, Dasyu, Deva and Posthumas and now you can add the new Dakinis. But in the time waiting for OSS I build myself a SP Army (almost done painting except Achilles and Ajax). It was a long way. I got the starterbox many years ago and as I realised, that mostly the SP is made out of named chars - I was disapointed. But the minis got me in, at first the starter then penny, the myrms and the dactyls and thoras. I even mix some SP in my Vanilla Lists. But I like to play them separate. So at the moment my fave is the new and shiny OSS and my interest in Vanilla is on almost zero.
Cool. I do not get people’s objections to named characters in Infinity. Unlike a game like 40K, where I loathed them too, they do not break the mould, but follow the same rules as others - only distinction being, that they’re AVA 1. :)
Bingo! This is maybe something I took out of my 40K Time (that reminds me to make a game in the near future, to not get out of it ;-). But in general I am not a big fan of named chars in TT-Games. But in Infinity I get used to it.
I'd like for OSS to be character-free, to maintain the 'anonymous androids and robots' vibe, but I'm not complaining about what we got, and that's about the only case I've had anything against characters. They're a good way to give something cool to their army, without the risk of spamming it.
But it's pretty easy... Don't think of them they are named character. In the end all is in your mind. Do you feel dirty for using Achilles... Well, think of him it is just the Uber killing proxy of war god and is limited to ava1. Or maybe you just need to give name to cheese head, the relentless MK4 with his trusty hmg. I understand nemo, OSS is vastly different from my expectations, no new profiles for garudas and dakinis, same for naga and dasyus (which are my two favorite unit in the game), a marut who doesn't benefit much from the sectorial etc. And yet...i really like it, haven't played it much yet but i've been thinking about oss list since they got out. My greeks are starting to feel jalous. Envoyé de mon LG-H815 en utilisant Tapatalk
I understand it too, i would have liked at least one garuda with superjump, and one dakini with a medium range weapon (spitfire ...) or a multi rifle. But at the same time, some profiles that were rarely seen in vanilla are totally worth in OSS. I'm thinking about the MSR and the LGL+combi dakini. They benefit more from the fireteam than other profiles, and thus they are competitive in OSS. The MSR dakini gain a lot from the +1B and the various +BS (5-link and apsara) and becomes a fearful ARO weapon. The LGL benefit a lot from +BS. Alone it can do speculative on 8- (BS11 +3 best range -6 spec), in a 5-bodies team with apsara, it's 13- (BS13 +3 range +3 team -6 spec), that's huge. Especially since the orders spent on moving it to the good range also move the rest of the team (maybe it was move+shot with HMG to get rid of the overwatch, maybe there is a paramedic that's getting close to an objective ...) For nagas/dasyus it's a bit different, through AVA3 for the ever trusted nagas is really nice. And there is Asura L2 :)
I agree somewhat that LGL and MULTI Sniper Dakini see increased use in sectorial, but that is no excuse not to give us a few more profiles. As you mention, both Spitfire and MULTI Rifle would be very much liked. Or maybe a Breaker Combi Rifle or Heavy Shotgun Dakini? They could've priced it at 0,5 SWC and I would still be overjoyed. What I most would have liked to see would be toolbox Dakinis - perhaps giving us a FO+Sensor+SatLock Dakini, perhaps with Adhesive Launcher and Assault Pistol? Thorakites got a loadout rework and 2 new weapons on already large loadout count when HSN3 dropped, while we got squat for a long anticipated sectorial release. As for Garuda, yeah, the long-standing SuperJump would've been absolutely wonderful, but no. Normal looking (if GMO / cyborg) hoomans get it, hell even Nomad FO Remote got it, but Garudas? Again, no specialist profile and no change whatsoever. As for Asura L2, while nice it is also a total insult to limit it without Smoke. Not to mention the extra insult to realise we pay 2 points for that Lt2 while freaking Daoying gets it for free, in a faction which actually has NCO. Sigh. As I said many times before, they really phoned in the whole Operations Subsection. It's not that the sectorial is weak, but it is completely and utterly uninspired, boring, and not thought through.
