Or even a nanopulser. Also, keeping in mind that Asura's CC is 1 point better than a pistol shot against something that engages her. So yeah, pretty much only points bloat, on a model that really didn't need it to begin with. TBH, the Asura has a lot of things that needs to be looked at, but that is a discussion for another thread.
This! So much this! I joined this game because of that whole Ghost in the Shell highly advanced theme Aleph seemed to have... Only to be greeted by tons of Greek blokes that aren't just my cup of tea (I usually hate hero based armies, it's a concept that could go well in fantasy settings, but not so much on sci-fi). I even got so fed up that I started playing other armies who had access to Aleph's troopers while I waited for Vedic. I hope 2018 is finally Vedic's year, because some of the older Aleph's models need a serious aesthetic rework (I'm looking at you, Dakini Tacbot... ). Almost half of Aleph's minis are already available for this sectorial, so hopefully it shouldn't take to long to release.
I think you may have misread the stats due to crap formatting on my part. I have changed the formatting and upgraded the MSV to LV2 and edited the points cost
Yep, they were replying me. I sort of got mixed up with the HI/REM aproach and put there a mix of HI stats and REM stats. My bad :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
It is no problem. Also personal i have never fought in Close combat in any game. so I have no opinion on the CC argument
In essence, giving values of CC over 7 to troops with Electric Pulse is either "overcosting" (to avoid undesired optimization) if it's at 10-12, or giving options, if it's at 17+ (specially with another weapon for CC, even if it's a pistol).
CC is most of the times a waste of orders because you need to walk the whole distance without being killed first (ARO). It is unreliable because most of the times you have only 1 burst. So, you will get into melee if you can reach the melee easily enough (marker state, HD ninja waiting to ambush, melee proficient AD ...), on a very dense terrain where you can reliably move+cc around a corner, or if this is the only way to do it (ex in a no vision zone). And you will either use a very cheap troop - your aim is to lock down an opponent - or a very competent troop that has so many modifiers it is likely to win f2f - and you use your competent troop to murder averrage troopers. Don't think of having a "duel of heroes". It's too random. Thanks to the Steel Phalanx, we have among the very best melee fighters of the game, yet shooting is still the way to go 99% of the times. I would still want a good melee fighter in Vedic, just to have some more possibilities. And I would be crazy about some vedic cyberninja like battle angel alita (gunnm) :)
Having a reasonable level of CC in a unit prevents precisely it being tied with a cheap kamikaze enemy, but yeah, it's not really something you use offensively. I tend to escort my Marut or Asura with cheap Myrmidons, however, because they pack grenades, have chain rifles and pistols, and can tie down an enemy troop with good chances of locking it down for good (specially if a hacker is nearby and said unit is hackable: in their turn, they have to eat the hacking to have a chance of extruding itself from the Myrm's embrace).
Pretty much the same here. Currently I'm waiting for the Vedic sectorial, to be able finally remove greek troops from my vanilla lists. Not that I don't like them, just because their theme is totally different.
True - high CC proficiency is pretty much a deterrent on many SP units, since they happens to be also very good at shooting. It also serve as a threat and a distraction for the opponent. No one will ignore Penthesilea or Ajax if they are somewhere, because they can wreck anything in the game (well except AC2 for Penthesilea, the poor girl is crying) - even if it is often better for them to shoot.
Restarting the topic : I was looking at my Asura from the starter set, and was a bit disapointed by the miniature (unfortunately does not have a good paintjob). I considered ordering the Spitfire Asura mini to give me options, but the miniature seems really old. Let's assume we're gettin vedic this year, and let's assume we get a starter set for it. Would it be safe to assume we would have a new Asura Mini ? EDIT : and let's leave the Asura's profiles aside for the moment ;-) I am not trying to start a fire here
Don't care, get the Asura Spitfire, she is worth it. Besides, the new sculpt might leave the "spandex-dressed terminator" for a "posthuman with heavy armor" like the Mk3, I'm even considering getting another Spitfire Asura to use as a Kusanagi proxy (with some conversion).
A Su-jian equivalent would be nice... 2 wounds, heavy infantry (so can prone etc)... although REM support ware is pretty decent too.. (and throw in full auto/fatality for fun)
Since someone suggested the Su-Jian equivalent I can't stop thinking about it. And it made me think, since Yu-jing has access to ALEPH bots & sophotec, couldn't we get access to the Su-Jian ? Though it IS an imperial service weapon after all.... I don't know what is the lore reasoning for Yu-Jing having sophotecs & bots and if the other way around would make sense.
I'd like more of a Karakuri style unit. But I'm for classifying them as REMs for Aleph - disadvantage of unable to go prone, bad at Dodging, no additional hacking protections possible - but with advantage of being able to get buffed by Hackers. So 2W (don't need Dogged or NWI), ARM 3-4, BTS6, give them BS12 to compensate a bit for ability to get Hack upgrades (and keep points reasonable), PH12,WIP13. 6-4 MOV. And interesting weapon options. For example: 2 MULTI Rifles, Nanopulser, Heavy Pistol, Electric Pulse 2 Feuerbach, Nanopulser, Heavy Pistol, Electric Pulse Boarding Shotgun, Heavy Grenade Launcher, Heavy Pistol, Electric Pulse And, this being Aleph, give them Mimetism :) And I wouldn't say no to Climbing Plus I'd also like it if they went more with upgrade programs and either gave say Deva Hackers access to special upgrade programs that increase speed, get Fatality Lvl1 or Full Burst L1. Or the REMs could have special skill that says something like "when the REM receives Hacking Program Assisted Fire, it also gains the benefit of Fatality L1" or "while Hacking Program Enhanced Reaction is active on the REM, it also receives Climbing Plus". This could be particularly interesting for Enhanced Reaction, so it gives +1B in Reactive, but in Active it gains a different bonus, such as Climbing Plus or better speed or something. And I'd like them to be Harrisable with Devas. Maybe the rule could grant them automatic Duo (in vanilla too!) with the Hacker that is providing supportware, so long as all other requirements are satisfied (Hacker is within 8, is not G:Sync with something else, etc).
