Well, I bought these books last month on a Christmas whim, but now I'm sure I actually like the system. Somehow, it just... doesn't inspire me the same way other generic systems (GURPS, Cypher System) do...

I don't really use any remotes except EVO myself, you can certainly get by without them. The big problem I've seen with people who want a lot is deployment room. There are only so many good spots on in a deployment zone. Remotes take a lot more room than a person and terrain that can hide a person can leave a remote still easy to spot. You can find yourself deploying half of them very far back or in vulnerable spots as the first couple take the few good spots available.

In that regard, it is unlikely you will always play Generic nomads as remote blanket, Aleph uses the remotes more as cheap orders (if it uses them at all, the greeks tend not to field any hacker most of the time, and Vedic has more toys) while Haqquislam only depends on fielding a double set of S4 and S3 8pts remotes while playing Hassassin.

Frankly speaking, if you want cheap orders go for Alguaciles or Moderators in Nomads, while Haqquislam uses Ghulam (a little more expensive, but a WP14 FO basic infantry for 13-14 points is a bargain), the one that might make more use of them is Aleph in certain list builds (because taking Dakinis mean you already will be fielding sophotects and Danavas), and more for Sensor/ ARO support to go with the annoyance that a Dakini can be (1st order: coordinated order, move 4 forward twice, second order: coordinated order of Supressive Fire, now the enemy goes at -3 for mimetism, -3 for SF and -3 for cover).

In other words, don't be in a hurry to buy them all, else you will feel swamped and not paint them properly!

About Bagage Remotes... didnt anyone mentioned the useability of refilling your koalas? i mean come on! We are that nasty scumbags with cheap n dirty tricks!

    1. - Lunos and/or Taskmasters coordinated move -> activate the koalas
    2. - Move to Bagage -> refill
    3. - repeat for every order you can spent...

ever saw the face of an opponent in looting and sabotage or capture and protect when there where 6 - X crazy koalas wild across the missiontarget? :)

I kow the face I make when faced with that. It's called "say hello to my Fireballs, this lady here is called Proxy Mk4 :p". Wouldn't be the first time I kill a Moran with the blast area because I targeted the koala... gimme a target-rich environment like that and I will be quite happy (not to mention the AROs I will make), not to mention koalas can be shoot freely while planted (it's not a FtF roll), so even the Dakinis score there XD

So not a "universal win" strategy there, but worth mentioning, I agree :p

Parking a saluyt next to a jaguar with panzerfaust/adhesive launcher is a cheap and effective aro piece/battery. If the jag runs out of panzer, it can reload from the saluyt. For 42 points and 1 swc you get 4 orders, with 2 of them dogged if you max out.

If you want cheap orders you go for Jaguars unless you need more than 4.

Okay! I went to my local wargaming store (which was a kind of adventure in itself, as it was the first time I've been there) and I bought the remotes. All of them. *gasps* Meteor, Salyuts, Vertigo & Reaktion - as well as the Baggage remotes for Haqqislam and Aleph (not Lunokhod, though - they didn't have it at the shop).

I also got Carlota & Moriarty. And Jaguars. As well as the new Morlocks and Thorakitai. And Armand Le Muet.

You just can't let me visits shops...

Anyway, a question regarding Salyuts: there are two of them in the box, but there are three profiles for them. Is it ITS legal to proxy the cheap Minesweeper one with the Total Reaktion one? They differ only by the two guns the latter has attached...

You could always magnetise the guns.

Thanks! Are other combinations OK, too? Like EVO proxying for the Minesweeper or the Total Reaction one?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions!

It's okay as long as it's easy to track. The EVO is not as good because it is easily recognisable as the EVO and it is a significant piece of equipment. We would always allow that and I think most would though.

I would mount an EVO and a cheap 8 pts version. Simply put, the Total Reaction Baggage is something you seldom use, a leftover for when there was no S3 dedicated total reaction. Also, the points difference is... minimal.

Additionally, the looks difference is also minimal: the Kameel EVO is the 8pts one with a shield on the top, while the nomads EVO is the 8 pts one with some prongs going forward (the most different one I use is the CA EVO, which is a totally different "head" plus the "flower" on the back).

Also, be REALLY careful with the Tsyklon, because the "under-chin" weapons cannot be easily mounted, some people have to bend the legs, I went to "raise" the chassis from the legs (which let me respect the Silhouette even better, I must confess).

I pinned the chin guns on.
But I also pinned the other parts together - including the tailfins, and the body to the leg assembly.

We should caution newer players though that koala over-saturation is definitely an easy trap to fall into.
