I agree that CB is probably stumped on RTF. As of right now what has been released and is believed to be a part of RTF has no theme to it and is definitely nothing towards the "super soldier sectorial". If I had to guess, RTF is not going to be a super soldier sectorial. Honestly that should of been Hassassins as its better themeing. I am pretty skeptical of the Red Veil starter even being RTF anymore and is rather vanilla.
The Red Veil starter is absolutely still the RTF starter. Khawarij, Zhayedan, and Tuaregs are all signature units of RTF, as is the Al Fasid. The Khawarij (and Tarik) do tie into the super soldier theme, although I grant that the rest aren't. The Hekim, however, ties into biotech superiority and it wouldn't take much to develop from these core units. As for a theme, I strongly disagree with you. RTF is clearly an elite, aggressive, fast attack sectorial. Lots of close to mid range weapons, midfield skirmishers, and expensive, powerful profiles. It has gaps, but it looks like the goal is to push up with Tarik/Khawarij troopers, supporting them with Doc+ Hekims and Tuaregs. Naffatun will provide orders / dtw and Ghulam / Zhayedan + Al Fasid will provide fire support. We don't know how to fill some gaps (trouble with camo, weak or expensive AROs), but the sectorial does have a core identity. Frankly, it's one that I find quite exciting too!
See if it is why would you put the basic ghulams in a starter that applies to a sectorial. Hassassins has Hassassins and QK has QK in it but RTF has RTF and Vanilla? I think it will be used as the RTF starter without ever being named as such but its basically the vanilla starter just like Yu Jing is on the other half. Without being argumentative you have described every sectorial. Something attacking, something in mid field and something in the backfield. That is just basic how to play Infinity. That isn't a theme. Which I guess sort of makes my point, RTF at the moment as we understand it, has no theme.
The Vanilla Haqqislam Starter will be the RTF starter in the same way that the Vanilla Combined starter is also the Onyx Starter, and the redone Ariadna and Aleph Starters will be also OSS and TAK starters. This is to provide better steps into sectorials for new players.
Exactly. Keep in mind that the QK starter hails back from the day when there was a vanilla, non-sectorial 2ed Haqq starter (with 3 Ghilim, a Janissary, a Naffatun LFT & a Hunzakut Sniper).
Just got to thinking about how similar the visuals are between one of my favorite characters and the Haqqislam design. Hey Corvus, Doom Eternal is coming out and maybe that can grant some inspiration (not an exact copy) for a new bio-enhanced super soldier with a heavy shotgun and a bad attitude. I know Tariq is supposed to be the pinnacle, but maybe there's some wiggle room to experiment ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
so as we all agreed this is Khawarij, lets talk about load out? most of the time CB like place pistols in a hands of Specialists (Doctor+) or troopers with big guns. But except panzerfaust khawarij's lack of such heawy weapons in profile... but they have it on Spoiler: Concept also it reminds me another picture Spoiler: from RPG book my sources also report that it is unlikely to be a breaker pistol - it looks not like one on Govad HMG unit.
Y'know, Spitfire is a heavy weapon too in my book... Also, it could be a Khawarij with some new loadout, or even an universal proxy loadout (handgun & CCW). Either way, I'm glad he's in the works :)
I very much hope its a universal proxy. Dont really like it, when the model with the heavy weapon doesnt use it. So fingers crossed that its not the HRL model. The big question for me atm is, if they get a box or just two blisters. They look like ther perfect example for a box of 4 to make a core of 5 in RTF, but with with all the special links these days, maybe the are similar to Kamau in terms of release and role. I prefer 5 different models, but maybe CBs intention is to only let them have a Haris by themselves and some special links.
My hope is it's a pistol and ccw universal proxy. People forget khawarij can hold their own in cc and I would love some dynamic jumping poses with ccw and guns. Here's hoping they get a little buff here or there to make them even more worth while.
Well, I'll be fine either way. Have the old Khawarij & new Khawarij riflemen painted, and the old Tarik waiting to get painted / possibly converted into any loadout I'd fancy :P - once the Ramah shows up, and we learn more about the Khawarijs in it.
I imagine three of them in a link is pretty decent CC. At best you get B3 with Dam 15 Ap and Poison. This means they are dangerous for everything. Talking about buffs, I wish for NBW to give them even more of an edge in CC and the built in Stealth pairs great with Superjump to sneak into CC undetected.
So i have high burst weapon (spitfire), but i would use pistol instead? Allah, No! i not want such sculpt with spitfire, which he would not use. & i realy not belive in just CCW + Pistol - it looks too good to be truth Doctor also have his own loadout - with BSg. i hope it still Doc. with pistol & with med bag on his shoulder.
*gasp* Oh my, this is very exciting. I hope he is in a box, because I love my models with trenchcoats and turbans. I will run a core in every list if I am able. A CCW+Pistol would also be my preference if we get just one model, but I'll be happy with anything. I have the old Khawarij, the one from Red Veil, and Old Tariq painted up. They can all serve as relatively universal proxies if this one has a SWC weapon instead.
I agree with everything but the last sentence...the Doc shall have his BSG, because that model would also work for the BSG, PF loadout then. I get your excitement, but I hope RTF has more cool links to offer than just Khawarij. So you might not have a core in every list after all
I would play Khawarij + Tarik 100% of my infinity time. I’ve wanted this link since I started the game. Super jump + Fat2 in a link will be so much fun!!!
RL? Because you have an opponent at point-blank range, and your high-burst weapon is unserviceable (jammed or has just ran out of ammo). Getting it operational will take time you obviously do not have. Game-wise? ARO under 8".
Id happily pay those 2 points for the much higher utility. Would it make them a better (meaning more cost efficient) unit overall? Debateable, maybe not because they are already good shots and their CC abilities are already sufficient for the occasional encounter. But it would be cool for me:-D
