So I am new to Infinity and I recently bought the Neoterra starter on really good discount and I wanted to build around it. Using the Army List Builder, this is my first attempt at a 10 command list. C&C would be appreciated.

OK. The first thing is to let you know about is NCA for the most part starts in the deployment zone. So you have to have a plan for exiting the deployment zone without getting yourself killed. The Swiss Guard and the Bolt multi sniper can help with that but you have to build in a lot of redundancy.

Second thing, Bolts are a great troop profile, but they suffer from skills/equipment bloat so they cost a a bunch. They take a lot of practice to unlock their full potential. A recent addition is the NCA machinist profile that you can link with the bolts.. this adds a specialist AND a cheaper profile to help build out a Bolt core link.

Third, you will want to develop a plan on where you want to spend your orders since you have 5 troops in a link, 2 strong deployment zone protectors with the auxilia and two strong attack pieces with the bulleteer and the Swiss Guard. What is your plan to spend orders to get your guys where they need to be to be effective. An attack piece is going to need orders to help it be effective. A specialist needs to have the orders to get to where the objectives are.

Fourthly, welcome to one of the coolest sectorials around, in my very biased opinion.

    Welcome to the hyper power!

NCA is a great first choice – you have some really nice options and equipment that make your troops well rounded and durable.

Being new to infinity I would start out with 150 point games, these let you learn the mechanics a little bit better while maintaining a more manageable model count. Assuming you own all the models in your posted list, let me make a suggestion:

    Neoterran Capitaline Army
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]7
FUSILIER MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
    FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
FUSILIER Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
FUSILIER Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 18)
    BULLETEER Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1 | 23)
AQUILA MULTI Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 58)

    3 SWC | 149 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

This way you can fill out your SWC and points a little bit better while you learn the game. proxies are easy enough as your bolts can be fusiliers. As Xammy has touched on above, NCA likes to start in the deployment zone and not much else. I would use the Fusilier sniper as an ARO piece, supported by the powerful link team bonuses, the bulleteer to clear any enemy ARO pieces while the Aquila can move in and clean up the mid field.
The theory of list building is a pretty important aspect, and for many a tough concept to grasp, but I wouldn't worry about it just yet. I would nail down the mechanics of the game, get a couple of practice rounds in. See what shines and what doesn't, discover profiles and miniatures you like and build a list around them!

Enjoy and let us know how your first few games go!

    Welp.

I am going to feel ridiculous that i must say this but I just chose my units based on theme and basic "must haves" i have read in beginner guides.

So i have no strategies yet or any games under my belt. I just know that:
    1) "if I like a model build a team around it" : I love the Swiss Guard from Beyond Icestorm so once I figured it was apart of Neoterra, with the starter pack i picked that set up and went from there.
    2) "Remotes are good to have for covering lanes" : The Bulleteer, Mulebot, and Auxilas/Auxbots were chosen for that, with the Auxbots also kind of being used to charge and corral/box enemy with the heaver flamethrower either into firing line (friendly kill-all games) or away from objectives.
    3) then since I have a lot of bolts, i worked them in as my basic troops.

I will pick up and give the Aquila / Fusilier list a try as well, I am new so it will be good to start simple,a dn expanding my list options wont hurt. But that was what my mindset was when i created my list above. Thanks for the advice.

I also don't have any of the rule books for #3d Ed. should I get N3 or go straight to the Human Sphere?

And that's fine! encouraged in fact – I simply suggested otherwise because of the rules and equipment associated with each model. For a new player "Hidden Deployment" and "TO:Camo" might be a little confusing. For the time being just use your current miniatures, but use the rules for Fusiliers and the Aquila. the Bolts and Swiss make really nice stand-ins for the time being.

Beginners guides are helpful – but without context ultimately meaningless. In my opinion, trial by fire is the best way to learn!

As for the books – N3 is the core rule book while Human Sphere expands on it. although, bear in mind all the rules are free online. The physical books are relevant for fluff and art purposes, as well as having a physical copy of the rules.

Yes Hidden and Camo may make it hard. Thank you for the simple list though.

Do you happen to know where online I can find them? Edit Nevermind, i found them. SMH

So Quick question about Lieutenant Profiles. Are there specific Models for them or do I just designate a normal Auxilia (My list) or Fusilier (MikeTheScrivener's list) to stand in for that profile?

You can also explore the wiki to help see how rules tie together. When in the army builder you can click on a skill/equipment to see the rules for it in the wiki.

I think it's important to note that your Lieutenant is NOT open information unless a mission specifically says otherwise. So you wouldn't be able to tell by the model if it was or not. Nothing good happens when the opponent knows which model to shoot at.
