I'm thinking more... Hulk landing with both feet on the roof of an Abrahms at the end of a 2-mile jump.

Extra points if they make a shock wave cloud to glue onto the base in a similar manner to the Sophotect's hula-hoop

Why would an AD troop need a landing pose ? All Ariadna AD troops are already landed, so does the old Yuan Yuan

Why would a shooting soldier need a shooting pose, they have already shot? Why does a hurrying soldier need a running pose, they have already got to where they were running?

    Because it's awesome!

@Mahtamori the difference is landing is a once-in-a-game type of situation. So the landing pose is great, but then in subsequent ordes he keeps running around and shooting stuff while still having a landing pose. To me, is same as the weird acrobatic pose from older models, yes they are cool, but gets annoying as they move around the battlefield always on their head.

Can't we say the same thing about the pointing poses? hacking poses? Joan De' Arc sword in the air pose?
All poses should be valued. don't pose hate

Well, everything is just a representation of the models themselves. Arguably each model should be depicted doing what is most significant about that particular unit with that particular profile. Hence a Mechanic wielding a welder, AD landing, hacker hacking, HMG shooting, order mook scratching their butt, etc.

(Also, it'd be cool if AD troops had infinite vertical downwards vaulting limit and immunity to fall damage)

Because the sculptors find them fun to make?

Same reason we get raised visors, miniatures games have always had a dichotomy of being both playing pieces but also an artistic medium where the sculptors are looking to challenge and improve their skills.

From a gameplay point of view it would be best to have all models in the "tactically standing around" style exemplified by S2 USARF, but having the more dynamic poses attracts painters and collectors, not to mention that "awesome minis" tends to be a huge selling point in the market.

    I blame comics books.

Once upon a time, a super hero jumped down and stumbled during the landing, and because it's comics books, the artist only drew the final position. Then a bunch of people looked at that image, and got convinced they meant to do that; or that that's how they came down.

I mean, if you're parachutist and due to forward momentum you start walking/running, and then trip and make a partial recover after landing, that's going to be one of the ways to end up in the "superhero landing" pose.

I don't mind it so much, considering that my Navy friend's daughter is quite literally about half my volume. I'm 6' tall with a 48" chest and a 17" neck (weighing 192 when I left boot camp, I'm a lot heavier now but my chest and neck haven't changed measurements), she is about 5'4 and maybe 115lbs. Tiny little thing.

Is she a soldier? Would she use a smaller gun if she was? I doubt it. ;) That would be a more reasonable argument if there were the occasional smaller guy or larger woman, but there just hasn't been one since CB moved to 3D sculpting.

And how does sexually dimorphic power armour even work?

*enter Liao, a 5'6" tall male who was accepted tot he Zuyong*

Quartermaster: Alright ma boy, let's get you measured up for your new suit.

*Liao steps in to a 3D scanner to get his dimensions taken*

Quartermaster: Well shee-it, looks like you aren't a 6'8" jacked stud. Sorry, but the male Zuyong suit won't fit you. Tell me, what size heel do you normally wear, and if you don't mind me asking what cup do you fit?

*Later: enter Bre-Hsien of Tarth a 6'4" amazonian shit-kicker coming in to get sized for service in the Hulang*

    Quartermaster: Well fuck!

*puts away the dainty princess power armour*

Yeah, the different sized weapons for men and women drives me way more up the wall than men's and women's bodies being different sizes.

Agreed, it's so.... strange, particularly since they have CAD software to make sure everything is the same size, unlike somebody working in a physical medium. I'm virtually certain that somebody screwed up when making the female fusiliers, and shrunk everything, including the weapons. That or they think the model looks better than way, I'm not sure.

    This.

    They're artists, making sculptures.

    Not precision models.

I rather see similar body sizes between males and females also because bigger minis are easier to paint and glue together.
I really like how the securitate pink hair female in tunguska starter set is as big as the male one.
I've paint some tiny Infinity minis and I really like them to be as big as possible.

    She might :)

But that's a different variant of the gun, not just "eh, rescale the basic rifle 85%, take two tabs of Fukitol and call it a day".

I agree landing pose are great but other AD troop with non landing pose are very great too. For example, I love the old ParaCommando LGL pose :

    Or Van Zant :

I would love to have something more originak than an nth version of the same landing and shooting/hacking. Hell, I would even settle for some low PH AD troop sculpted like he failed his landing

I think it mostly only becomes silly when they stop to look like heavy infantry. The mobile Brigada have that for me. The female ones have legs thinner than some female light infantry models. The Zuyong actually look fine to me from that standpoint.
