@Section9 watch, PsychoCrane will be caught on camera gloating about how the ability to finish one's sentence in the Wu Mings is a lie, and the Wu Mings will mutiny and join the JSA to open up "design space" in YJ/Imperial Service.
Lets keep in mind that Ikari have Wu-Ming. Do people think the ISS is loaning the mercs Mu-MIng? Of course not. It make sense that disgraced soldiers who served their sentence are still treated as convicted criminals in Yu Jing society. So getting a job would be difficulty and their only real skill would be as a soldier. For such men, mercenary work must sound perfect. After all, if your able to survive a Wu-Ming sentence then your one badass soldier who has relearned to follow orders. Ikari might be violent war criminals but awol soldiers are still not going to be tolerated.
I think Wu Ming often successfully earn their name back posthumously, satisfying family honour whilst having very little chance of recidivism.
Any of you remembers the old classic "The Running Man"? Because it's entirely possible that it reflects on the Wu Ming's chances of finishing sentence alive. Fabricating stories of successful ones is a walk in the park for the Ministry of Information. Of course their chances being real, and survivors' reintroduction into society genuine makes for a much better story.
Soldiers, sure. Soldiers in mil-spec power armor? There is a lot of stuff you take with you when you leave the service, your weapon isn't one of them in most nations. Neither is your armor.
So that we can we can have mary sue good guys so that we don't hurt our fee fee's by playing the faction?
?? It's an equally ridiculous question in response to said ridiculous question. Just a way to point out the absurdity. I don't see how it's trolling? I mean you're the one namecalling but what ever.
Is anyone as disappointed as I am that Hac Tao's are still only AVA 1? I would honestly run them all the time. Just quickly, something like this would be funnnnn HAKKKKKK ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 HAC TAO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 67) HAC TAO HMG, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (2 | 68) ZHANSHI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) ZHANSHI MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 19) ZHANSHI (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) Zhanshi YĪSHĒNG Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) MECH-ENGINEER Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) HǍIDÀO (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 37) YÁOZĂO Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) YÁOZĂO Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) DĀOYĪNG Lieutenant L2 Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 29) LÙ DUĀN Mk12, Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (0 | 21) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army
NCA Swiss Guards are ava 2. Hmmm, feels good. :P Honestly, I'd rather have the Hac Tao replaced by the Daofei. Having a HI w/ camo midfield at the start is so good.
To me, Ikari seemed to me to be a bit of a ploy to get people to try new stuff. And it worked! At least on me it did. However I pulled one on them by using a lot of my old YJ as proxies for Ikari. Really they could have made totally new soldiers for Ikari but why do that when they have so many things that already exist and those that have some figs can try it out. I think the Wu Ming are not actual Wu Ming. They are mercs that through luck, theft, or by any means, have been able to outfit themselves with power armor. The Wu Ming profile just happened to be the best fit for this at the time. No cube, HI, ok variety of weapons, not too expensive but not to cheap for the rest of Ikari to be spammed. As it is in Ikari, you can have a 5-man pain train and still over 13 orders. Unless I took Kuang Shi, I was never able to get that many in ISS.
That would be counter-producive, actually, I think. It would mean bloating the existing SKU list. Somewthing CB are going to lengths to actually avoid as much as possible. It would cut their sales by posing an argument against starting a new sectorial. At this moment, many veteran players have an approach of, like, "hmm, a cool new sectorial. And I already have half of it anyway from my other faction, I'd only need to buy the other half!", against "oh a cool sectorial, but I'd have to buy all the models for it...". From what I hear at the foruns, and what I see in my local meta, approach #2 does happen, but #1 is waaay more common. Which I have long perceived as being exactly what the CB planned (and I can only applaud such a smart move on their part!).
That's my read as well. I like the notion that the HI in Ikari represent professional Mercs who are using slightly-outdated but totally functional power armor. I don't think they're literally all current/former Wu Ming. I can easily see them as an amalgam of IA deserters, non-Bushi Japanese professional soldiers who couldn't advance themselves socially, mercenary heavy infantry from other nations who threw in with Ikari, and perhaps some former Wu Ming as well.
I don't want to turn this into an Ikari thing too much but this is why I'm using a mix of old figures. Old Invincible and Wu Ming currently. I'm also going to see if anyone wants to get rid of old Brigada, Orcs, or Jannisaries.
At least some of them are Wu Ming deserters, unless all the original Wu Ming that went rogue and joined Ikari are completely out of the picture. In all likelihood, the founding Wu Ming set the standards, doctrine, and tactics of Ikari's non Samurai armored contingent, making any successors functionally Wu Ming.
