    Decided to start playing around with vanilla ideas now. Mostly an experiment with some of our new mid-field options as well as more playing around with the Daoying as a way of streamlining the use of supportware.

    In general, this list was mostly to play around with the Hulang a bit since I think it's at its best in vanilla where it can have order spam and smoke support that it simply lacks in IA.

    I really like the idea of putting it in my second hunter-killer group. Traditionally, this group for me (at least in vanilla) hasn't had a specialist present and has somewhat relied on the aggressive mid-fielders to clear some space for it to work properly. The Hulang changes this a bit because it can make use of that nice big order pool to support the initial ground clearing before the Rui Shi moves in to its new home. It can then proceed to push buttons and get moved in to the main group to fill in casualties as needed.

    The yan-huo MHMG in haris is definitely growing on me as it has impressive firepower in both active and reactive turn, and i start to think that playing a haris with 2 of them, instead of 1 + cheap wildcard might actually be a decent idea.

    However i'll probably try this one with 1 MHMG and 1 DML in the haris so i can afford a Liu Xing to fully exploit the evo hacker, and for coordinated orders shenanigans with the 3 big guys:

    Here's a list idea I've been playing around with, and might try throwing on the table tomorrow. Of course, that's assuming I don't use one of the many others I've been messing with. As much as I might not feel super into IA itself (losing the Daofei and Tigers did a bang on job of killing my enthusiasm, not going to lie), the toys it's given vanilla have spiced up list creation considerably.

    I don't think I've seen many IA lists with a Hac Tao (the above list notwithstanding), so here's a take. Zhanshi team holds the line and can deliver specialists behind an assisted fire linked REM if necessary as Tai and her team do work, while the Hac Tao goes and does Hac Tao things.

    What I like here is that I get to use Wildcard to match needs to the of matchup and mission. Allowing me to either buff the sniper to unholy levels of firepower, or take the enginner with the team, to keep hacker happy and remove eventual isolation and or glue. Tai Sheng. In case of fireteam facing diastrous situation, there is backup tool in form of buffed Rui Shi, willing to cut down the opposition.

    What do you think people?

    Can we give some love to our Son-Bae wildcard? I'm playing Decapitation today in preparation for a tourney this weekend and my list is a Core + Haris Zuyong heavy Limited Insertion.

    For some reason I can't copy the formatted list to post here, so I'll just upload an image.

    The idea is to make use of the all mighty Core link and have the specialists Haris and Daoying hacker + repeater giving support (Fairy Dust and/or Assisted Fire). Giving AF to the SML Son-Bae is really powerful because you don't have bad ranges. You can just shoot anything from anywhere avoiding cover for both impact and armor rolls with the link bonuses. You even outrange MSRs.

    Another cute detail is being able to re-form the Core with any piece from the Haris (assuming the one who dies or is left behind to ARO is the MSV2 Haidao).

    Will post a batrep tomorrow probably, and it's going to be an IA mirror!

    Some food for thought guys, I found on the weekend that you have to keep in mind who is going to be your Xenotech handler.

    They can not be:
    In a fireteam
    A remote
    In a marker state (camo, holo, etc)
    Irregular or impetuous

    Also, not static. You are going to need to move up with the Xenotech most of the time. The general rule is that the Xenotech must do their thing at least 4in+ outside deployment. That’s two orders even if they are starting on the deployment line.

    The datatracker has a lot of the same problems. However, in a few missions they also get an order only they can use. Mowang NCO would be fantastic with this.

    In IA, I suggest the Hulang starting 7in from deployment due to the FD level 2, with the xenotech. Then move up with the xenotech in tow.

    Another good one is the Mowang. He’s going to need to move some to get in good range anyway.

    Yan Hou isn’t bad but he really doesn’t want to move up too much.

    Guijia if you are actually using him.

    Last I’d use a Zhanshi or Doc/Eng.

    Pretty much most of the others you are going to have in a fireteam.

    At least as far as Vanilla and IA go, I think the Hulang will really earn its keep as the premier Xenotech escort for Yu Jing.

    A Mowang or Yan Huo might be able to get the job done, but I feel that the Hulang will probably be able to not only do the best job of getting the Xenotech up the table without getting in the way of its own gameplan, but also be able to effectively utilize it as a human shield in close quarters, at least moreso than the other picks.

    A Crane or Hsien used to be my pick for Datatracker or Xenotech duty, and might still end up doing so in ISS, but I'm thinking the Hulang might be more than happy to take over those roles in vanilla, and at a cheaper price point to boot.

    Shang Ji, Haidao and zuyong are the Haris. While the others are the core. Chaiyi provides close range repeater and order. Lt is Lt'ing.

    16 orders possible. Core eliminates long range threat for the Haris to sweep midfield. The baggage bot provides a repeater to protect the core and for the Land Haidao to do work through.

    The list is made for Biotechvore. The idea is to move as many pieces with as few orders as possible, to avoid the plague. The long-range Bros help me to shoot my way out of the DZ (if I go first) or delay my opponent (if going second).

    Harris is composed of units that can join the Core if one of them dies.

    Shang-jì assault hacker is actually really interesting, and can put your opponent's HI/TAG in no-good-reaction situation: round the corner, if you dodge you get hacked, if you shoot you get burn to a crisp.

    On a side note, I start to think that giving up on limited insertion to reach out and get a few more disposable bodies while leaving room for doc/engie support might not be such a bad idea. Sure, if you start you lose 2 orders in your first group, but you still have 12 orders for the alpha strike with your link and you're less first turn dependant. Might require some tests, but that's not a bad trade IMO.

    @Sedral Interesting idea. Something that can actually be a negligible non loss due to 2+ TA models in group one so you still have "ten" orders to work with before NCO.

    So I've played a couple of matches with IA and the Zhencha have been pretty good for me. Starting in marker state on a tall building midfield keeps them so safe and they have a nice toolkit. I noticed they're AVA 4 so I wanted to try making a list that used them all!

    Camo and mines feel like they'd be a problem so I've got a Weibing and 2 Chaiyi to drop a sensor net and a Lu Duan to clear mines. I'm using a more defensive Zhanshi core with Shang Ji HRL and Son-Bae. Speaking of the Son-Bae, I figured the SML might be worth it because we have so many FOs, and it would help make up for the Zhenchas' short range. To be honest it feels smarter to only run three Zhencha because there aren't enough orders to go around (maybe one of our two snipers instead - I've got a lot of spare SWC), but I figured I'd throw this up anyways, see if it inspired anyone.

    When I start ontop of a building, I usually have a problem that "anybody" can see the marker once I stand up. Then I only have one order to either climb down or shoot before I'm discoverd.
    Maybe our table setups are a little bit too open.

    No, sounds more like you need more crap on the buildings themselves. Billboards, AC units, water towers, and possibly removing the roof entirely to represent the highest relevant floor of a significantly taller building.
