Since I want to write a little story a question about Aristeia. They use weapons in the Hexadome and nanotech to heal. So do the Aristos feel pain if they got fragged?
Haha, don't know why but all this makes me think of New-U Hyperion stations in Borderlands 2... Hyperion recommends channeling your post-death frustration into pre-death vengeful anger!
Dunno what's more painful: To die everyday in the Hexadome or to know that female Miyamoto skin was the one with less votes and it'll probably take a long time to see that mini.
At least our characters in the Hexadome go to the Infirmary. This is unlike that other great spectacle from our past. "Ave Imperator! Morituri te salutant! Hail Caesar! We who are about to die salute you!
Voted for Kozmo as well. Already have 3 Miyamoto models... ;) And I love my Raiden-like Miyamoto skin the most.
Yes, but for my story I really think about what this does to your psyche if you die and feel the pain all the time. Do they suffer from phantom pain, for example, or some kind of PTSD? I am no expert. But this can't be healthy at all.
Of course it isn't. I think about it as many professional sports. We all know about star players and their great careers, but there are many people who get stuck on the way with drug stories, liver diseases, etc... Pain Suppresants are drugs like all pharmaceutical stuff. And Gata is so young... <Sigh>
Well, the first/original Aristos (and still many of the current ones) were no humans at all, but ALEPH creations. So no problem there as I think ALEPH has ways to deal with that. And for the human ones: Maybe most of them drop out after their first death(s)... Because to advance from some local/regional arena to the big ones, you have to be able to deal with it, or you will end up in some PTSD-Ex-Aristo-Support-Group.
This is my personal opinion: I think that the Petaca (I don't know how they did translate it, the artifact that records someone's memories) is just a back-up, a copy. When you transfer it to another body you are not transfering his soul, just his memories and such. It would be another person with ther memories of someother, but that one person would think he just revived althoug in fact that would be a lie, he's just a new person. You would be definitely dead and there would be another one who thinks he is you (cause the memories were transfered). That's what I think about the Petaca, the back-up
I don't think the Aristos get a new body every time they die, but their bodies get healed via nanomachines. (But I'm not sure about this..) But yeah, I think it is quite plausible that the trauma of death won't be recorded 'as is' in a cube.
It depends on the sponsor. Maximus has a new body ready for an instant backup if necessary, or just as an organ bank. If the sponsor is more modest, probably not. Sometimes, rarely, there are fights to the death... From Infinity fluff:
Wow, that is interesting... and brutal. :) Brave new world. The whole sport seems now so much more like in some dystopian movies like the movie Gamer. Are there more popular sports in the Human Sphere? For example, last time I saw the Steam game 'Laser League' I thought this would fit for Infinity as well.
Well, Ariadnans have Dog-Bowl*, but that is said to be too hazardous for mere humans... (Like football, or rather rugby, were even the ball is made from tesium so it can be used as a weapon...) But something like football with TAGs could be fun as well!
It reminds me of the movie "The Island" with Ewan Mc Gregor. In which fortuned persons make clones of themselves as "backups". If I understand correctly, Maximus has something similar ? His "consciousness" just has to be injected into the new body ?
