The trick vs the Varuna Kamau link will be to use a linked Spitfire within 16" I feel. 5 dice on 13s vs 2 dice on 13s. Shame there's no Nimbus tbh.
Did you forget the always reliable assisted shooting buffed Rui Shi? And regarding Varuna. just name me any army that's not gonna have a painful time against them xD
Tohaa can close the gap with eclipse and chase them off with flamethrowers. Nomads can also totally bypass the Kamau with White Noise.
If you can cover 3 or more Kamau from that link then sacking a Louie might just be worth it. The Kamau sniper is just too strong to be allowed full team bonus and at 55% to kill per Kamau that's not bad odds. If they dodge you are, of course, in trouble unless you used the BSG to do it in which case you get one more chance to line up a couple or more Kamau with a template.
I figure they dodge then attempt to kill you in the subsequent F2F rolls after that, in which they have quite an advantage even if you're packing a BSG. Your odds of killing them if they dodge are really bad.
Rui-shi with supportware have the exact same odd than a zuyong in 5-man team (+1B and +1BS makes up for the lack of MSV), however he has a spitfire, and can't use cautious movement to get closer so the risk to be outranged by the kamau is real. That's why i didn't run the numbers with shang-jì spitfire or Tai sheng MK12 either. Pretty much everyone will have a hard time against varuna, but factions with access to albedo/white noise/eclipse should be fine. Low tech faction's best chance to take down a kamau is to use coordinated orders with things like daylami panzerfaust, metro DEP or anything you're willing to potentially lose, and hope they get at least one hit. Otherwise, spec fired grenade and/or kamikazing a few forward obs to target it and fire some guided missile is also an option. Overall, varuna's defense is completly crazy. With things like the kamau and the Cutter who can easily dominate long-range engagement, and zulu cobra/helot for DZ defense (because anti-stealth jammer and double ambush camo on dirt cheap neurocinetic trooper is just that good), they're probably the hardest nut to crack in the game. Lists like this one are nightmare fuel: Varuna Immediate Reaction Division ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 7 1 KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32) FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) CUTTER MULTI HMG / . (2.5 | 115) CRABBOT Flash Pulse / Knife. () ZULU-COBRA (Sensor) Combi Rifle, Jammer / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0 | 29) HELOT MILITIAMAN Shock Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) 4 SWC | 229 Points Open in Infinity Army The kamau sniper and the cutter really complement each other really well in ARO. You could have your cutter lined up right behind the kamau, ready to fire BS15 EXP shots at whoever tries to take it down.
VIRD is really strong. But hey it's PanO and they dominate in firepower, which is fine. That's their thing and it's good but by no means unbeatable.
Lets be clear here, we do not ban the word "suck", nor "fuck" really, we do not appreciate the attitude that comes with these words as evident on this thread and frankly the bulk of the community shares the same viewpoint. Been negative solely for been negative is tiresome and has been tiresome for quite a while, while we do not wish to stop criticism and will not stop criticism, it is in out right to choose the tone of criticism and we have to do so, both for the sake of the community and for actual and valuable feedback to pass on. To be entirely frank and blunt about it, even if the feedback is correct, the tone may make it been dismissed and with the volume of feedback, some things will not be looked a second time. Think about it for a moment "Zhencha sucks a specialist infiltrator that dies by mines" "While Zhencha is an excellent objective grabber I think they are easily countered by mines, please consider giving them NWI like all the other 1W+NWI HI or something else like hyperdinamics to counter the mine threat." Which one of the two you think will get attention and be considered? We ask of you to be polite, considerate that CB employees are humans and fellow forum members are here to enjoy a conversation and not an endless wave of swearing negativity. That will be all, please enjoy the new army lists in your upcoming games and feel free to report feedback back when you get some experience with them, we will gladly read it.
Or Tactical Awareness. How about giving it Duo with a specific thing. Like Haido or a remote? There's many things they could have done. BTW DO NOT look at what they did with TAGs in Varuna unless you want to feel worse!
Well, Guijia getting Tactical Awareness on non-Lt. loadout and upgrading Lt. to Lt.2 has some merits. I see no problem with basic TAGs, but them having their own quirks - like Raicho - is ok. Actually, all TAGs might have Tactical Awareness as standard.
Since the IA does not have any shenennigans (Smoke, Eclipse, Nimbus, WNoise, Albedo) and lacks a high burst attack piece with MSV1+, the only viable option to safely deal with the linked Kamau MSV2 Sniper is to kill the Fusiliers. So with Varunas nice cheap defence options concidered, the Liu Xing would be the option number one? Not by dropping him on the Kamau, but by walking in from unexpected angles and take out single link members. Its not very great though. The lack of anything special narrows down the options very much. Without having played the IA yet, the sectorial currently feels like only having a (strong) hammer for any problem. Time will tell if this hammer is able to drive both nails and screws in the wall. Nails would be missions like Annihilation in a Limited Insertion tournament, while screws to a steel wall would be missions like Transmission Matrix or Show of Force on an open table with a Sniper tower on your Varuna opponents side.
You mean like we're expecting in White Banner, with probably 2 Daofei and 3-4 Guilang? Yes, I'd really rather have one design for the budget HI, maybe two. Generally Shock-immune and NWI, though BioImmune and NWI would obviously be better. Across the board. Oh, and ARM3 BTS3 across the board, too! Because sometimes someone lays a mine either covering the objective, or within blast range of your Zhencha. Spend one order and Zhencha dies, unless someone else deals with that mine.
We'll see how long it takes for that to get developed. My guess is that VIRD might be the test-bed for White Banner, if anything is.
