I'm going to miss how low-overhead it was to get a surprisingly robust hacking utility + ARO network set up with just an E-Drone and Bit as your hackers and a Q-Drone and whatever other REMs you liked as your models to buff. Still totally viable in vanilla obviously, but it was out of left field for Morats.
Yes. Makes no sense, Females are master hunters. Name for female literally means "one who kills in silence". Known for stealth and infiltration. Can't use camo. Sigh. old complaint.
All this talking not being "Fluffy" is hurting Morats way more than benefit them. Taking away Bit and Kiss is not helping either. Morats are considered one of the weakest faction if not the weakest in Infinity. Don't you wanna be competitive?
"This is why the majority of Morat exploration units are composed of females, so in Morat language, Ze Rat (That one who kills in silence) is synonymous for female warrior." From Zerat description. Misremembered. Not literal translation. Instead, "synonymous for..." Point does not change.
I remember the old Morat language table, Rat is the one who kills, Mo was the left hand so Morat is the left handed killer and Ze was the female equivalent, they might have changed it, makes sense.
Maybe once upon a time. We now have an abundance of rigid link teams that totally lack the versatility, flexibility and synergy of proper mixed link sectorials. Which is a shame given we were one of the first factions to field mixed links.
Morats have plenty of fireteams but Morats have been historically expensive and unidimensional units while also usually not being very fantastic in that one dimension. So list variety and viability were never in the same sentence. Theirs a lot of reasons why the Rasyat in my opinion is the best Morat and if it had a specialist it would not only be an auto include, it would be incentive to take two so that the specialist was backed up with a heavy weapon. Just look at it's kit and stats, it's the perfect Morat.
It's basically "Morats are supposed to be bad at Infinity." And they're sticking to their guns on the issue.
Yup, and it's not like Morats were tearing it up with that repeater coverage either - and I really can't see how they would be post-update. It honestly comes off as them removing her for the sake of removing her, or there's some other motivation. If it's a story reason (Hell, maybe she's about to get killed in story and she's getting removed from everyone's roster), that's one thing, though still kinda shitty since people have bought and paid for the mini. But if it's just "you don't get nice things. Be grateful for the Kornak/Suryat Haris we have granted you" that's fucked up.
I would love if tabletop game companies started taking the same approach computer game companies do. When you provide updates (patches) provide some designer commentary on why the changes are being made. We know CB have metrics built into Army and can analyse statistics of who brings what, whether those lists win events, etc. I'd assume, for example, that the Sogarat link was just not popular and rarely used - leading to it being a sensible option to remove and potentially update the Sogarat profile to be more appetising to run solo. This, I feel, would help mitigate the community knee-jerk reactions every time things change, especially every time anything gets removed. Montessa Knight is, I feel, a good example. I've played against a Monty once. In my 7 years or so playing. Once. And I've used one... once. I honestly believed people running it were in the minority - and while it stings for them, showing them that they were in the minority would make that change more understandable.
The problem lies in that the Suryat got upgrades that made them a better all around choice than Sogarat. I just don't see Duo, even with a Raktorak as doing anything to change that. The army update better bring something spectacular to the table for the Sogarat. Otherwise I don't foresee any real change to peoples desire to bring a 60 point speed bump.
I find the opposite. Suryats are super vanilla at present, and I have a hard time justifying a Suryat HMG over a Sog AP HMG with only a 12pt difference in price for the extra survivability and damage output. Even so far as pain trains go, Suryats don't really have much to stand out from cheaper, better options in other factions if that is your jam (and it is my jam for JSA and for the upcoming Invincibles). Post updates, Van/Suryat link is probably a sure thing in most lists... But that isn't so much that the Suryat itself is amazing, as it is that it's a cheap 5-man with a durable pointman. Hell, one of the reasons I'm keen for it is having the Tinbot to protect my Vanguard hacker. EDIT - Also, still crossing my fingers that the video profile was a beta and we will get the long-promised Ph14 Suryat.
