Ah, I missed the Son-bae, wildcard SML bots definitely seem to be a "thing" nowadays, gives a nice cheap dangerous ARO for a Core team. Heck, makes an excellent 5th trooper in a Zhanshi Fireteam.
I'm thinking the Son-Bae might actually be useful on some tables, with some supportware it could help with AROs and the 6-4 MOV will give it a bit more distance when moving, so it can more easily grant +1 Burst to CC. That said, it's still going to be too situational for a Duo. The majority of the Shang Ji profiles also offer a DTW that the Mowang seemingly lacks, which might save the big trooper from surprise Oniwabans.
Speakin' of, I'm thinking about many options. Mowang delivery Duo with Shang Ji Mowang reload Duo with Pang Zuyong mixed team Zhanshi House dog team Upper + Zuyong HMG haris with Haidaos Son-Bae within Haris HRL Shangji double, in Zuyong Haris Whatever you like Lego block army.
From an Oniwaban? Unlikely. They can basically suicide march into him and are likely crit him off the table in one blow, I've happily run mine into TAGs and just accepted dieing to their Heavy Flamers to take them with me. Preventing generic warband trash from inflicting more than 1 wound he'd have a decent shot of, assuming they don't just dump smoke in the way and then it all goes to shit from there.
Haris of Yan-Huo, Son Bae, and Zhuyong could be fun depending on the weapon options available, if you can get the MHMG you have a flexible fire support team that can work in the Active and Reactive turn. There's a lot to weigh up here.
Good points! Still, I doubt extra 6 inches will help him do better at seeking targets. Yan Huo often become derailed when enemy just circle around him like gallop, terrain dependant. Idea of 5 MHMGs are pretty nice, though.
Another feature of Panggulings that makes them neat for most of our Fireteams is that they retain their S4 even when Unconscious. Unless facing an ARO that can reliably cause 3+ Wounds of damage, it will stay around to block Line of Sight for future orders. It could be convenient for sitting next to an objective to cover a Specialist Cautious Moving over to fail WIP uncontested, blocking doors and alleyways, or just sitting in the way of Snipers when you really need to move an important piece safely. Sadly, the Mowang cannot make use of this due to being big, but the Hulang may yet find a use for portable Total Cover.
S4 is shorter than S2 so anything is going to have to be prone to hide behind it, including the Mowang.
I had a cornered Zuyong avoid an Antipode by hiding behind the body of another one. That singular event is what solidified my belief that C+ is better than super jump on swarmy melee troops.
Right you are! Might still be able to use it as cover by parking it on low scatter though, or for any S3 or S1 pieces. If the Daoying or Tai Sheng turn out to have access to White Noise its Repeater could also be mighty handy. I had a similar event while I was playing Bakunin; hid Zoe behind a downed Reaktion Zond to get away from an Intruder's fire, repaired the bot next turn and dropped Assisted Fire on it to blow the Intruder to bits. Engineers feel very, very satisfying when they are backing up a resilient bot like that, and the Hai Dao looks perfect for the job!
If we get more disposable weapons like Panzerfaust, Mines, Crazy Coala/Madtrap/Pitcher in linkteams, the Pangguling would be golden.
I am not sure TR is compatible with the Burst increase of fireteams in ARO. Burst 4 active is still pretty good for something with the potential of marksmanship.
