Sorry but I have to disagree. It's not that people don't like change. We don't like it when it's not changed well. I would have been perfectly happy if they had say changed the AVA of of some troops to tide us over until IA came out. I would have been happy if they had announced IA as the new sectoral instead of Tunguska. Change is great! I'm still looking forward to new stuff coming out. If I didn't like change I wouldn't like new things!
An unfortunate combination of high expectation, sense of entitlement and desire for instant-gratification.
Part of the issue is the depiction of a community oriented society from the point of view of a more individualistic western tradition that benefited from colonialism. A point of view that sort of brushes past the fact that the human sphere named the first sentient species they come across the all too on the nose name of "Helot." The Yu Jing faction seems to place a great deal of emphasis on selflessness in service of the whole. We see it in the most recent quote from the Zuyong, saying he will be wherever his people need him to be. Unfortunately this aspect only came out in bits of pieces while the story of it's (formerly) two sectoral were pushed to the fore. The Imperial Service is a ruthless and utterly brutal security apparatus. It's methods are abhorrent to western eyes, mine included. But there two factors that are overlooked. First, in fiction, they are utterly necessary. When organized crime was openly wrecking havoc among the civilian populace, the Imperial Service had to be utterly brutal to bring them to heel. Second, is they are an allusion to the tradition of a central authority sending it's representatives to right the injustices being done to the people. Imagine the knight errant or vigilante sweeping into a den of scum and villainy and cleaning house. Except it's a Justice chosen by the Emperor who heard the pleas of his people. You see a glimpse of this when they mention the pheasant who brought done the serial murderer. Then there is the JSA. The fact they were treated as second class citizens was deplorable. But, under-emphasized is the fact it didn't have to be like that. The Koreans were brought in under similar circumstances, only coming in due to crippling debt. Apparently they have integrated well enough that a Korean could become a Crane agent, second only to the personal bodyguards of the Emperor. But the open terrorism and reciprocal crackdown led the Japanese and State down another a different relationship. Also worth mentioning was that Japanese officers are significantly responsible for the meat grinder mentality. Ikari's background as well as the old lore of the Kempei, spells this out explicitly. The death of Ikari's children are due to incompetence in JSA High Command, not the overarching YJ command. Not to mention the blatant classism in which the nobles sent common soldiers to die. The message is clear when the entire Corp of upstart common borne Haramaki are eradicated while the noble Domaru survived to train their more tightly leashed and worse equipped replacements. But perception is reality, particularly in a purely fictional media. By and large, the perception of Yu Jing is that they are the villains of the Human Sphere, despite the Space Dutch East India Company being particularly replendent in their shiny blue. They are the lesser evil who is only on your side to stop the scary mind controlling aliens, not an independent state trying to find its place in the Sphere and not be run over again by its larger neighbor. Apparently Gutier lamented this perception of the yellow peril, but that aspect has been front center for a while and even double downed upon. The more sympathetic elements are found only in the margins, which is exasperated by the fact for a lot of the audience, it is an alien culture.
I would point out that the relationship between China and the Korean peninsula has been FAR better historically than the relationship between China and Japan. The Koreans have been clients to the Chinese in entirety before, and even now one of the reasons North Korea is tied to China is because the two nations have always had ties historically. Other than that, spot-on, I wholeheartedly agree with your post.
Please don't post such shallow attempts at flame bait. There is a very large amount of discussion about the application and play of Zhencha and Liu Xing at this point. A significant portion of those 60+ pages are frankly off the advertised topic.
You might have been happy, and someone else might have been upset. There is literally nothing, other than doing nothing (and even that's debatable) that wouldn't upset someone. Which makes people being upset a very poor metric to measure how well something was done. I'm not saying this to then conclude uprising was done well, but that people's personal bias tends to cloud how Universal they perceive their opinions to be.
That is true, but Korea has also demonstrated flares of independence. Japan also had historical ties with China since antiquity. There was also a time that Japan was seen as the potential leader of a Pan Asian movement, that would help turn the tide against the rampant colonialism. But then it was apparent that they too were getting drunk off of Imperialism and were just another conqueror by that point.
The OP asked why we have a "Post-mortem" thread for an unreleased sectorial that we frankly dont know about and I gave my opinion on the matter. IA had been teased for a really long time, hell a lot of us (myself included) have been waiting for it since 2009 when HS came out. And the longer the expectation, the higher the people's expectation, which inevitably leads to greater disappointment when not all of these expectations are met. Then there was the fact that after Uprising, there was a strong sentiment that CB should compensate YJ players for what losing the Japanese units. And while this was not an unreasonable assumption and CB had promised us new toys to replace the ones we lost, some people took this sense of entitlement seriously and they want their new toys NOW!. And when previews inevitably fell below their unrealistic expectations or when another faction get new toys before we do, they got mad over it and felt justified in doing so. And yes, thoughtful discussions had occurred during those 60+ pages, but we have two other threads about those same two unit that occurred without the need of premature hyperbolic fear-mongering.
As one dwell in that Korean peninsula, I just want to point out Koreans weren't that submissive. But yeah, we got ties. I can give that.
Apologies; I certainly didn't wanna speak for the people who live there, just throwing out what knowledge I did have.
Back on the topic; Draught of new units, and unable to demonstrate our classic way of gaming, becoming a total dumb dicks at fluffs were reasons why I took a recess from the game for a while. It might don't match the experiences of other YJ players, but those three were main problems for me. That's why we all waited the fabled IA; Full of power armors with awesome designs(I really like the design of Terracotta soldier, and it definitely needs an award.), the proud of YJ. But the openers were 'Lite' HIs, Viper class power armor, which were deceiving to some; 1W+NWI is like 1.999W, but it is not actual 2W whilst carrying HI's drawback. And we had promises about Daofei/Tiger soldiers. CB lied to us. So the first contacts were undoubtly harsh, and shiny MO rework struck YJ while we were debating about our Lite HIs. It was like pouring an Oil to the wildfire. Glad thing is, after that first contact Shang Ji rework and the Mowangs were presented upon; which is quite satisfying TBH. Zhenchas are awesome for me too. Well, that's for me. I'm not that negative, but I do understand why we are so upset.
Sure, but you're missing that a key fluff detail for literally years was how poorly MO got along with NCA, how they both were constantly pitted against each other, how the MO units were almost entirely unplayable in vanilla with the exception of two or three of them, and how the NCA players and MO players largely had very little crossover.
It's actually better in most cases. It's cheaper than two straight wounds, on a unit you're very unlikely to doctor anyway, and also gives him courage. Where did they ever say these units were in IA? Daofei has always been WB.
Kettle black? The PanO forum has been a cesspit of whining and entitlement for a good long while. And lol. You are not wrong though, there is a large amount of negativity toward what has been shown/revealed for YJ Invincibles - part of the trouble is that all the stuff being showered on PanO is somewhat blinding by comparison to what has been shared for IA (or for my damned Morats).
You should've said it on the post mortem threads; I bet you'll get a delicate, tons of strong NO on the thread, but not by me. I'm not wronged to have a discounted 1.99 W - Fire is for others. They told there will be Tiger Soldiers on IA. At least that's what they announced. About Daofeis, I also heard it from the forums. If it was a misinformation, sorry bout that.
Fluffwise, the Daofei is the recon branch of the Invincibles. More assumption on the community's part admittedly. That said, sectorals aren't exclusive to each other. The Tigers were labelled IA in their most recent dossiers.
Back when the Daofei had the single blister of the older HMG model in production this text was their blurb on the store "The Dàofěi are heavy infantry that specialise in infiltration and survival in hostile environments. The Tactical Reconaissance Section of the Invincible Army combines instruction in infiltration techniques with that of heavy infantry combat. The Dàofěi or Bandits received their name thanks to the graduation trial they have to pass in the State Scouts School. This trial consists of leaving them without food or weapons for two months in the inhospitable lands of Dailing. Survivors are toughened infiltrators and enter the Dàofěi Section, where they will accomplish very similar missions to their graduation trial but using better equipment." You can still see it on the human sphere page for the Daofei, as well as online stores that still have the old model in stock like here As for the Tiger just have a look at their Red Veil release Both models have been listed for IA for some time.
This dossier really hurts my brain. She would not be wearing hip-riding pants and have bare skin between pants and armour.
