The Combined Army version of this particular conversation would probably be funny enough and long enough to fill the entire Third Offensive book. As far as my own experience goes, metric is better for working with, Imperial sounds more impressive when spoken aloud.
Actually from all people i talked to who play Infinity from various countries only Spanish uses metric (cm) and everyone else who use metric in their countries still use inches for playing Infinity. Now I am really curious which countries use cm and which inches for Infinity???
That's probably because they use the english rules. And that rules use IN. I suppose french and german rules use CM
Austria mostly inch, from what I have seen so far. Cm is used by newer players, who use the german rules.
Australian Infinity uses inches, despite being a metric country. The English rules are clearly made for the US.
We use inches in Canada despite being metric as well. Seems to be that way for all miniature games, not just Infinity.
So far only Spain and France uses cm... How is it in Germany? Similar to Austria? Older players use inches (used to it because of GW) and new players cm because of Infinity rules in German? In South Korea and Japan everyone uses inches. Edit: I am also curious about Interplanetario rules. When Spanish players play against people from other countries that use inches, are players allowed to use both?
Two of GW's games were in cm. They went against the flow (pissing into the wind, so to speak). Epic and BFG from memory. (only brought it up as grognards in my local scene are still playing them.)
Most Player in our meta (Munich/Germanry) using inches, some player (different age, can english) are using cm cause our german rules use them.
In my lgs in germany we use the english rulebooks and inch because in the past the translated rules from various games where most of the time misleading or just utterly wrong. There are exceptions of course.
Cm was official at the Interplanetario. I played with Spanish and American players, everytime in centimeters. I think the only reason Corvus Belli allowed the inches in Infinity is: GW. Inch is the historical way of measurement in wargames, and GW is the historic actor of wargames. So... In fact, I don't see any problems in this freedom. As far as I'm concerned, I prefer cm because I think it fits well to a sci-fi game, and obviously for cultural reasons too.
Reminds me of that old joke: Why are women often considered poor at parking? They're constantly being lied to about how long eight inches really is... (as a point of note, women are no better or worse at parking than men)
Besides the weirdness of this question, but how in hell do you perceive there to be prejudice in the assumption that there is no difference in ability?
Because if this question is weird for you then you have to check your own assumptions ;P Because if I wrote "You are as bad at parking as women" then someone could find that offensive ^^
Fucking hell yes we get it you think people are too easily offended and don't like political correctness and you think the modern age is devoid of morality or whatever Can we move on now
It's weird because you're immediately firing the big guns, but even more so that you're also revealing you have no clue what those big guns are or where they are pointing. I'm sure there's a meme for this level of "could you not?".
