I think we'd get 100% appeasement if we could trade our orphan JSA stuff for equivalents, but that sort of business loss is normally associated with product recalls and therefore a terrible idea.

Much of Third Offensive's redesigns and new arrivals seem dedicated to enhancing the viability of elite lists. It doesn't take a genius to see how good that could be for Yu Jing.

Back on topic, the Liu Xing looks like a very efficient objective and Classified troop, especially with D-Charges. A mass drop and coordinated CC attack would be extremely unpleasant for an opponent in Looting and Sabotaging or Frostbyte, he's probably the best Hunting Party choice in Yu Jing with his rooftop access and durability, and if you can somehow spare the points for long enough to make a Turn 3 drop or if there is a good rooftop around the Liu Xing will make capturing ZOs a cakewalk.

I've run everything from 1 budget BS Tiger, to triple Tiger meme lists. They get work done and Yu Jing can actually pack enough orders to make 3 of them work.

They're not auto include, Yu Jing has enough active turn attack pieces that are effective to be spoiled for choice to not have to call any of them auto include, but they're strong enough you can build effective lists around them that don't telegraph what you're up to.

Because maybe it's 3 Tigers, maybe it's that fucking Hac Tao. Your opponent never knows they're too similar in cost range to be sure.

Just a minor thing I noticed today while fever-painting. Tigers and Guilang (the new sniper) has a soft V-shape on top of their helmet that I haven't seen elsewhere. Might be something of a signature feature for White Banner troopers.

Hardly. They could've easily turned it into an actual CC threat.

Keep most of the current statline, maybe bump the PH by 1, dial the CC stat up to 22-23, give it Martial Arts. Take away the specialist profiles and SWC guns give it CQC suicide shit like DTWs, smoke, grenades, shotguns, shock/ap/DA/EM CCWs on their profiles. Chuck Frenzy on it for a discount and watch it go. Basically turn it into a hackable, upscaled 2W Yuan Yuan.

Turn it into something that screams "I HAVE ARRIVED. WHERE IS YOUR TAG? I WISH TO HIT IT WITH MY SWORD."

    Ticks several boxes:
    • Helps push Yu Jing back towards their status as an actual CC faction, not a fucking retarded faction carrrying stats like CC15 plain CCW piece of shit that nobody in their right mind wants to pay points for.
    • Doesn't compete with Tigers. Tigers are the shooty AD, they surgically pick the right spots to cause maximum damage. Liu Xing is a brute force high risk high reward suicide missile.
    • Doesn't compete with the rest of the HI in the roster. Behaves completely different to them.
    • It's got way more flavour than a boring ass flying Zuyong with a shitty gimmick of an explosion rule that statistically fails to kill jack shit.

Prepping for ITS X, Used Liu Xing against Nomads on Q-control. Yeah, I actually ran into it. Knowing if he was Nomads, I would've thought twice - but well, it happens.

I used Liu Xing MR version (SO), Shang Ji paramed's a Liu Xing. Being a SO, he could help me a lot when I play some ITS missions containing Card missions - quite a boon, I'll say.

Group 1 was the casual Dao group, giving him the LT so to suck out more order to recamo himself. TR bot with EVO means it can deal out some crazy last turn runner.

Group 2 was Rui Shi shooting range time. If things get ugly, or when my opponent extend to take out the Daofei, then I'll throw the Liu Xing for good's sake.

I won the WIP roll - he rolled 20 - and choose to go second. With a hope of him overextending.

He was ready for Liu Xing, that was for sure - he had a freaking EVO hacker, and a classic Interventor. Double trouble for Liu Xing.

But game went weird. He succeeded discovering my Daofei, shot a pitcher, got excited and declared Oblivion on the first skill with his Interventor. Which caught him in my KHD Ninja.

Skullbuster KO'd Interventor, and Liu Xing boomed on EVO bot. He tried HTA, but failed - I was rolling on PH 15, he was 7. It survived the boomfart, but three shots of MR was brutal.

It went into a severe massacre - MR HI delivered into one's DZ is awful at least, he literally swept over half of Nomadian army. It's worse than Combi - heck with those V:series. Nomads conceded when Liu Xing killed KB.

Sorry for lacking pics, but the Nomad player was my good pal - and it was kinda painful to see him stunned since losing the Interventor to hell-spawned Ninja. We called it a game, and went for some good beer. It was on me - cause, you know, winning is good, but not better than hurting my friend's feeling.

The game was optimal for Liu Xing, but like Zhencha 2nd game, dumb luck did it again - I'll try to post more detailed, and more likely, with some more photos of the sequence next time.

Thanks for the game report @ObviousGray, whilst it's fair to acknowledge how luck played its part I also feel that the Liu xing does deserve credit for doing well for you. The gotcha with the KHD ninja is a great thing to hear people pulling off. Mean but something your opponent is going to remember for a while I suspect when hacking.

That's less luck and more just his opponent not being very good getting his stuff killed for free and deploying so horrendously badly that his deployment zone was full of easy drop locations.

If he hadn't been a donkey with his Interventor odds are YJ starts in loss of LT because of the blatantly obvious Dao Fei LT getting Isolated through brute force after the Ninja kicks the bucket.

I'm somewhat worried about this dumb luck, but oh well it was a hard week for me. Something to smirk on is always welcome.

About the Liu Xing, yes this guy chopped through the backyards. Securitate (probably a Lt) managed to crit him once, but his momentum did not went off.

Since I never played Tohaa or CA (While facing them on regular basis), I was not that aware of AD trooper having multiple wounds. He deserves Hackable trait; at least, that will be his excuse, just like Zhencha's lack of immunity.

I'm pretty sure the KHD programs have an edge over a HD+ Interventor. And I sincerely doubt ObviousGray's opponent is a bad player for leaving Drop Zones, simply talking about repeater coverage and guards blocking a whole Deployment Zone twice over is much easier then actually setting it up, especially if you are using an elite list or don't own eight repeater bot models. However, if I were playing against an opponent that I knew was taking a Liu Xing, I'd make sure to point a few cheerleader combis or shotguns in the direction of my Hackers, since they're priority 1 targets for a Liu Xing and the best way to prevent them running through the backline murdering everything.

He's by all means, a good player. Fast-learning, sometimes clobber me with unexpected picks. Damn that Lizard.

In his experience Interventer often lay backwards, pretty safe from KHDs. Which is true, but he missed Pitchers could be real double-edged sword when sticking it into High Valued Targets.

That KHD frying was the turning point. While he did prepare a KHD Heckler, but normally Interventer is more than enough to have an edge at hacking - I won't smack him on the nose like this next time.

Incorrect in ARO, the Interventor beats the KHD Ninja hands down 48-17% odds for Brainblast vs Skullbuster. Being native WIP15 helps alot.

I call them as I see it. If he's doing stuff like getting his hackers killed for no reason especially against a faction well known to have Infiltrating TO KHDs and leaving his DZ wide open, he's probably not particularly good. At the very least nothing he's doing is making any reasonable argument to demonstrate otherwise.

Seeing my personal friend tagged as donkey, horrendous at playing..

    It feels bad.

I shouldn't posted the reply. All I wanted to show was the value of Liu Xing, and I'm making my friend's play dissected.

    It does feel bad. Really.

We had a good time, he told me about the Zhencha thread, and I was very humbled to ask him whether I could post the results on the forums.

    He agreed, good man, but..

    Jesus, I need a break.

    Thanks for the report @ObviousGray.

Just ignore triumph. People make mistakes and granted your opponents mistakes certainly helped the liu xing do better, but you acknowledge that. We can't ask for much more. Infinity will always be a dice game and sometimes the dice won't go your way and sometimes they will.

Your antagonist will openly criticise your opponent for getting unlucky, but completely ignores the value a liu xing has to ignore swingy results like that. So trust me when I say hes not coming to this discussion with honest intent and so don't take it too much to heart.

    Thank you, people. That helps.

Making my friend being judged is not something I expected nor intended, even on the internet, it makes me feel sorry about him.

I can laugh off, or hear about me being judged, but not against someone I know.

That's it. It's more important than the game I love the most, it's OUR game, not ONE's game.

Agreed with Alphz and Warhydra. Remember that this is just a game after all, be polite to others. As this is a thread analysing the Liu Xing's performance, the enemy play is just as important as the user's for determining its effectiveness. That fact does not excuse accusations of incompetence and personal insults against people you have never met.

@ObviousGray, how exactly did your opponent set up his Deployment Zone to repel the Liu Xing? And how did you deal with the threats posed by repeaters, Camo etc.? Again, not for the purposes of judging anyone, just trying to find out how to improve play with and against the Liu Xing.

Definitely need to follow up with a game now he has learnt a few important lessons to see if the Liu xing can still pull weight against a prepared opponent.

Id be careful with a daofei Lt in future. They can be a little soft once out of marker state, so going second you sometimes need to deploy then quite far back.

    Thanks.

He used full 8pts repeater REM, along with tons of Jaguar with Camos (Zeros and Hecklers I suppose.). DZ was pretty dense of repeaters - aside from EVO hacker which I boomed upon.

Bet he was not aware EVO hackers dont possess a repeater.

Ha, thanks bro. Good to see someone cheers the results, and a good feedback.

Extending Daofei was a real gamble, TBH, proning him was not enough to Hollow man's 6 inch jump discover - even if you prepare Ninja KHD in vicinity. I stand corrected.

People will do this regardless of circumstances.

I laughed at some posts I saw today about naysaying that 1w + NWI was vulnerable to mines. The reply to which was "Don't walk in mines then." This was countered by, "But what about having mines actively played on top of your troops." This prompted a "You're a bad player who can't make use of ARO pieces if this happens to you."

That last response completely dismisses the entire circumstances of the game, or of the use of Mine Dispensers or Drop Bears; which are becoming more common as the game goes on.

It is easy, out of context, to pull apart people's play and we are all prone to making bad moves on occasion. Your posts won't reflect the 20 other games you play where mistakes weren't made, or that highlighted incredibly strong play from you or your friend - so don't stress it.
