They have done it before when they have previewed troops and then when they came out there was more. I can't remember specific ones but I remember it happening.
An additional problem with Guilang or Crocmen DepReps is that they're competing for AVA with other highly-valuable loadouts. Sniper, Minelayer, and FO.
Errrr, Deployable Repeaters are in both cases in FO version, so I guess competition is really fierce? I hear for Minelayer. However, why would you pay for MULTI Sniper on either one of those models is beyond me.
Infiltrating Multi-snipers are one of those units that see a lot of use by newbies, get less popular as people learn the game, then get included as people realise their potential for flanking and shots in the back.
Could not have said it better myself. Though for me personally. Ninja MSR> Guiliangs MSR. HD and CC are amazing when you're working that close to the enemy.
Well, for Yu Jing, it is sort of our best sniper ATM? That, and if you find a good spot to put them inside, they can be a really annoying nuissance ( Because the MULTI-Sniper can be used as a lower "WIP" Flash Pulse with longer range due to stun ammo. ) and/or kill piece ( All it takes is to be 32" from your enemy and most enemies are in the negative ranges. ). Honestly, Guiling Snipers have carried me too greatly as of late... maybe people locally just haven't learned how to deal with snipers yet, but Guilang Snipers always make back their investments for me.
I generally don't end up counting merc snipers, mostly since I don't feel like saying they're "our" snipers, since they are technically everyones snipers. Fair point though. No idea how the Tiger is our best sniper though, at least compared to the Guilang, which gets both MSV1 and a marker state ( Both of which help in removing TR HMGs ( Well, MSV1 only helps against Q-Drones. ), something snipers in general find rather tasty I find. ). Just my opinion, though.
The Tiger is basically a Nisse that trades MSV2 for effectively a better form of hidden deployment (because you can decide where to put it after deployment). It has 2 higher BS than the guilang, meaning it's going to be more effective against non camo/mimitism/odd units than the guilang and 1pt shy on units that do. Lunah is only available in YJ and ISS, so she's definitely "ours".
I wouldn't call it a better form of HD, since it lacks the reliability of being sure it'll land successfully... but I see your point. Still prefer a Guilang, since Surpise Shot MODs + Camo + Cover and hopefully poor enemy rangebands stack up fast enough to make the Guilangs BS11 be on actually good odds. Also, didn't know Lunah was only available with us. That's a pleasant surprise.
Most of the time I walk the tiger on in my DZ, not drop it. But it's phenomenal when your opponent assumed that a firelane was unprotected. You can catch people off guard very easily with it as most people don't even realize the tiger even has a sniper option. Also, at the back of your DZ you are pretty much guaranteed to outrange your opponent too. The other element is surprise shot doesn't work in ARO, making the Tiger a much stronger ARO piece as well.
Well said. My recent experience about Guilang SR was deploying him backwards, and it did a severe lockdown on the battlefields; MSV Camo SRs are sometimes worth not to go fast and die out. Budget Armand if I may. And thats why 'SR in your ass' tactic works on skilled players match. It is not very expected, TBH, but does major ass problem when deployed as a joker. Still, @Maksimas got the insight about talking about a rare pick; and you guys gave a good view about it. Fresh. Very fresh. I like it.
She's technically a merc, but she's pretty exclusive to Yu Jing or ISS outside of soldiers of Fortune. I'd consider her a Yu Jing trooper as much as I consider Yojimbo or Saito JSA. Hopefully she doesn't end up leaving for story reasons as well.
Ah, but that does depend on the table a lot. Tables here locally generally are placed in such a way that you're never able to see the opposite table edge from the ground level, and most buildings touching the edges in the deployment zones are either low to the ground, or no no building touching the edges at all, so I probably never thought of it that way since there would be no long firelane to walk in on like that. A stronger ARO piece, yes, but the occasional chance to stack up a -12 MOD to a TR HMG via surprise shots makes the trade worth it IMO, again, due to local meta reasons... cause if it's not Onyx or Ariadna I'm playing against, then there will be AT LEAST one TR HMG in the enemy list. We are the fresh princes of Yu Jing.
You can also walk on the sides to catch people across the table horizontally. Or if you have diagonal firelanes you can catch people there too. And if there is that perfect spot somewhere on the table you can still roll a 75% (with Evo or supoortware) chance to drop anywhere on the table, which is pretty much in line with most superior infiltrators with the added benefit on not locking into placement during the deployment phase (and if you scatter off the table, you have a bs13 mimitism sniper in your DZ). Heck, with season 10 you could also just decide to not use AD and deploy with FD1 instead! The flexibility it offers outwieghs any minor advantages other units bring to the table for me. Positioning is the biggest key factor when utilizing a sniper successfully. And the tiger has the most powerful tools for getting the perfect postioning whenever you need it.
You know what? This rings some bell. I never played MSR Tigers beforehand, and now it seems pretty plausible...
I've actually being doing that a lot with my Tigers recently, mostly since every tourney has at least one table that I have a serious love-hate relationship with, which is a spaceship corridor themed table with some Zero-G rooms ( And some White Noise rooms... Cries in Hsien and Guilang. )... But yeah, positioning is one of, if not the most important advantage you must leverage to the snipers benefit. Personally, FD1 is equal to Infiltration when it comes to snipers IMO, since most sniper nests outside that range tend to not help with rangeband bullying as much. Personally, I always pick my nests based on removing an annoying defensive piece, TR HMGs mostly, and defensive firelane second ( Conveniently enough, TR HMGs tend to be placed covering commanding sightlines... so a sightline for executing the TR HMG tends to be comparably commanding. ). Both snipers work amazingly though, I cam concede that much.
