So if you're playing a faction where a LI 1W LT is a valid choice, and you are playing on a table with no interiors, what do you do? You're always going to be at a risk no matter how you deploy for the follow play sequence: turn one, order one, drop HI explosive drop trooper down, lucky guess on which model is likely to be LT, LT fails dodge roll, fails ARM roll, good game; you start your t1 in LoL. This is, by design, a valid line of play within the games rules. Nothing prevents this from occuring explicitly.
So IF you play on a table with no interiors (big IF), IF you play with an obvious LT, IF your Lt is not a marker, IF your Lt has 1 ound, IF you have no hackers, IF the Liu Xing manages to land properly, IF you fail your dodge, and IF you fail your ARM. Underwhelming when I could just have killed your LT in a million other ways, from grenade carpeting to Tiger/Su Jian to your face. But please, refer to the proper thread for this. Please.
Liu Xing is most certainly neat, BS14 with 2W makes that happen by default. However Explode LX to gamble your 40 point HI away on a 60% roll before Hacking is a big lol from me. 'But EVO' the people say. Okay, slight correction gambling away your 65 point investment on a 75% roll opposed by other Hacking and prone to surprises by TO is a lol from me... All that effort for what? A DAM 12 Shock hit that can be Dodged. Marvellous. Seriously, just walk it on the table.
I'm particularly curious about Decoy being able to move. In that context, it sounds a lot like Limited Use Holo2 that can't pretend to be other things. But I fully expected it to break if the owner spends an Order or declares an ARO, similar to Ambush Camouflage. Patsy remains a big question mark. What is she packing? If Parrots are E/M and Disposable 1, that changes it up for them quite a bit. Still a good piece of kit, but you're hoping to get lucky and have one very strong Order with them, rather than being able to rely on them to induce any kind of in-game effect. E/M2 or Disposable 2 would have made them quite decisive. Good thing that profile is also bringing other strengths (combi + lsg, Specialist.) This isn't the first time we've heard rumors about Stealth on VIRD ORCs. I hope it's true. It's nice being able to maneuver a mixed fireteam without that major vulnerability of having a loud, Hackable target in their midst. It also means some brave soul might, every once in a while, take the ORC Hacker: for link team members without stealth, it opens up some circumstantial change facing/reset forced actions against enemies.
They explicitly say that they cant pretend to be other things and talked of moving to trigger mines and such. regretfully, for the amount of points and the .5 swc..... if is disposable 1 this is probably a deal-breaker outside of special scenarios This part came from fluff, not from a profile, "the Varuna Orc´s get special training to move stealthily and fight in the jungle"
I'll believe Orcs Links being good when their stats change. With Frenzy out of the picture the only way to make Orcs decent outside of mixed Links is ridiculously efficient loadouts lile SMG FOs and a drop in stats, most likely PH and/or ARM/BS. I have no doubt that specific solo Orcs will be quite good in mixed Links either way. Fixing Orcs in general though....eh, something along the lines of I wish CB the best of luck.
Just based on my test games, having those 2 Wounds in a mixed link really helps. Kamau are probably yielding better statistical results in most circumstances, and doing so for cheaper, but that's only half the picture. Obviously, being able to run through a mine, survive a Crit, be Immune to Shock, can be far more order-efficient in itself than than simply hammering out the math involved when Target A shoots at Target B. Having a 2-Wound unit is a pretty comfortable anchor for most PanO players, so we'll probably continue to see that.
Wanna see the cost of an ORC Feuerbach, because I reckon that guy will be the one in fireteams for most of us.
Caliban -_- But that's an N2 profile, so, can probably ignore it. TBH kinda hoping for an ORC Feuerbach LT with a SWC discount - like the new Santiago profiles with their 1 SWC spitfire LT.
Because it's 1W+NWI, not 2W. Because we don't have Tigers in the sectorial at all, when the Tiger dossier explicitly said 'Invincible Army'. Because it's a Tiger that traded Mimetism for NWI. Liu Xing will only be a serious threat to something not in Marker State. It can only hit something in Marker State if the owner put a helperbot within 4" of it. And helperbots move 6", so this is going to be a tactical adjustment.
Teucer with an MSV2, however without it he's 1.5. :) If the Azra'il with Feurbach is 1.5 SWC, the ORC totally will be, as well.
haha, my roommate is always quick to remind me of this, although it is very old and probably wouldn't be 2 SWC had it been written today. this is true. and kind of criminal imo. I'm really hoping he will be. at 1.5 SWC our starter still comes out to 6.5 SWC total. there has to be a discount somewhere
probably MSV based, same goes for the Order sergeant, spitfire vs MSV 2 spitfire The Sogarat is also 1.5 with the Feuerbach. who knows, maybe its a fat boy discount
Possibly, in which case the ORC won't get slapped. But it's also possible that BS14 is just high enough to miss out on discounts.
