Not that I disagree with your general premise... but what, then, is the point of even having a CC stat or a skill that lets you dodge into B2B at all? Clearly there was some intent to have H2H combat as part of the game and units are priced accordingly.
That could be remedied with a very simple errata restricting the placement of the model by the player who has been engaged.
I wonder what the implications would be if you just let the engaging model choose where they are placed.
I'm not actually convinced of this, given the huge amount of vocal whinging about it prior to the faq. Including by a well known podcast.
People are going to bitch. It's the internet. As for podcasts, much like youtube channels, they don't mean much of anything.
This isn't the first time CB have made a rulinh based on the player base and then changed it when they finally updated the rules. So while I agree with your sentiment. I'd again reiterate that just because you like it, doesn't mean it's intended.
And your tantrums and refusal to go out of the house and do something other than troll a game forum all the time may not be the best use of your time either. Difference is that I know good and well that my opinions are mine and mine alone. I also know CB doesn't owe me a thing and I'm not deluding myself into thinking I in any way sway theirs or anyone else's opinions. My reality is that. Maybe time you walk away from complaining and do something else for a change.
@FatherKnowsBest You seem bent on lowering the standards of Infinity's gameplay and game quality. That's not good for the community. What I do while the thermocycler's running at work is hardly "trolling." I just have opinions. I don't say things with the goal of getting you mad; in fact, I wish you would act your age on the matter.
I have a feeling you are avoiding the topic :P My point here is that CB has a bigger mess in their rules department than to have clear intentions about rules that seems to be broken and stupid to a part of the community. I think shooting in the back from the front is stupid, but I understand that there are people out there who like it. But putting someone on the wall after they engaged you, so they can't do shit in CC is just pure stupidity. There the rules just broke, and CB ignores it like old GW. I think the most annoying part is that CB is ignoring the topic, and doesn't do anything. It's fine, that sometimes the rules they write break, because they didn't think it through, or whatever. But they have an official forum, with people pointing it out, so they should react to that, clarifying and fixing things.
What is getting lost here, I think, is that as published originally in N3, the issue of putting people on walls didn’t exist. In the book, base contact means literal base contact. This is a secondary effect from when they redefined base contact to include silhouette contact in the first FAQ.
