She's a perfect for NCA too. A nice jab from CB, for the Sectorial that contains PanO's intel branch, but has an alien hiding in plain sight as part of the force It's the equivalent of having a Kempetai in ISS.
She IS a merc. PanO may know she has no real ties to them, but that doesn't mean they aren't willing to buy her services, which I would argue is a very PanO thing to do... it's a very Hexa thing to do.
Knowingly hiring a merc and unknowingly hiring an alien infiltrator are two different things ;) This reminds me that I'd really like to see a "deniable asset" NA2 with ties to PanO...
Guys, having all the updates at once spoils the fun. Let's palate what VIRD and MO has to offer. (Maybe in a future NCA will depart as acon did and we'll see the fabled bolt haris + dropbears profile)
It really isn't. It's equivalent to what people were complaining about with the poor writing for Uprising.
Going to be honest, the reason I liked it is because it didn't have an order of "knights" jammed in. Yeah yeah yeah, I know the Swiss Guard are part of the Neo-Vatican...but they aren't knights. I didn't mind the addition of the Blackfriars since it wasn't as obtrusive IMO as the Montesa felt for me.
NCA feels like one of the strongest factions out there. I dont think it really needs much of a boost, outside of Bipandra getting haris (bolts) to fix two profiles with one stone.
I'd like a PanO NA2 list so I can play something different and not buy new models, I don't care what the fluff justification is :)
Hence the sarcasm and the smiley face in my post. Of course I don't like her in NCA, but I also won't reject a unit with new tools and capabilities either. I'll have to see if her full background gives any kind of credence to why she's in the sectorial at all. @deltakilo Preach, brother.
I'd like to see a better LT choice from the PanO side. I feel rather forced into either a fusilier or Deva lt which neither feels to really represent NCA
Gotta say, LT L2 or Tactical Sense would both be thematic on the Aquila. Order efficiency is a nice way to give it an edge over the Swiss too.
I get that this is a bugbear for you, but to me that was the biggest and most disappointing gap in the Sectorial. NCA would be better with a Knight, and I still think that there is design space there (between the ORC and the Aquila/Swiss) to put one in. I hope that happens with the review, whenever we get it.
Not having CoC in the allegedly closest thing to a "professional army" in Infinity always annoys me. The Aquila needs... something, to stop playing second fiddle next to a Swiss. The MR more so than the HMG, but the HMG still has the problem. PanO's Lt game however is a different story. You're fucked these days if you can't back something as expensive but squishy as an Aquila with a CoC option. The only viable Lt strategies are Marker State Lt, basic backfield LI Lt with shellgame (multiple "clones" or some sort of Holo like Hafza), Rambo worth bringing CoC for or G:Mnem. PanO only has access to one of those and that's the biggest issue with not taking a Fusilier (or surprise Auxilia) in NCA. NCO comes close, but isn't really a solution unless it's Hidden Information and stands next to a Lt Profile. Aquila NCO - better than nothing, but would still mean we're stuck with the backline Fusilier Lt.
While 'most prestigious' does not equal 'best training', I do agree that the Aquila needs a little something extra. LT2, Tactical Sense, something like that. I would say significantly more than is sensible. Remember, security professionals are paid to be paranoid, and Aleph also supports YJ. You know, Yuriko Oda was a Kempeitai in addition to being a Guifeng specops... But yeah, everyone's background investigation checks seem to be rather... severely lacking compared to how I know the US operates. FFS, my background investigator talked to my 3rd grade teacher! More like your background investigations/physical exams suck ass. You mean other than Emily Handleman? On a serious note, I wouldn't mind something like StarCo for every faction. But I think I'd rather have the ultimate evil corporation's ops department first (Magna Obra Corporate Security).
Well, for myself, I've always imagined that all my NCA deployments were in one way or another having their strings pulled by Corporations.
Sure, about like the 'Banana Wars' in the early 1900s (which led Smedly Butler to write the book, War is a Racket), or the poor Colonial Marines in Aliens. But getting the Marines deployed someplace to achieve a corporate objective is very different from Magna Obra actually having Swiss Guards and/or Aquilas on their payroll directly.
Why have them on the payroll, when you can get the Lobby to pressure for their deployment when you need them (and only when you NEED them) without having to do anything directly?
