Well I am still hoping that Sog will have a haris option just not with kornak. Maybe a 2 Sog+ 1 Sury link all HI like in Nomads.
Ultimately, I think CB dropped the ball a bit with the MAF video. They need to learn to focus on the correct changes. The video showed; Suryat in Vanguard link - positive Tactical Sense on Suryat - positive (though the lack of Ph14 and cost adjustments was disappointing) Raktorak Wildcard/NCO - positive Kornak link with Suryat Core - initially confusing, followed by general frustration at recent clarification re: Sogs That last item should have been replaced by something else - something that is immediately visible as a net positive. The Rodok Haris profile, for example. Haris for Rodoks is something I've often said we needed, and it can't be misconstrued. The Kornak changes are a big picture change. I have no doubt that removing the Kornak/Sog link will result in alterations to the Sogs, and probably Kornak. As I've also stated before, the focus on it being a Suryat Core, rather than any Suryat link, to me reads as the removal of Haris entirely from Kornak - this coupled with his Strategos now being much less valuable in a world where we have Wildcard NCOs, I would expect a reasonably substantial change to Kornak. But without showing all of the moving parts in the Kornak change - people's perception will immediately be coloured negatively because "you've taken this thing away from me."
God, still freaking entire month left until army update. I do hope they will do something cool with Sogarats.
I hope so too! The models are one of the coolest in Infinity but the profiles especially the feuerbach are much to be desired.
The feuerbach profile had me really excited when I got the news that Raktoraks can wildcard into any link now. Imagine this: Morat Aggression Force ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 KORNAK Lieutenant Mk12, Light Flamethrower / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) RAKTORAK Combi Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23) SOGARAT Feuerbach / Assault Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 57) 1.5 SWC | 121 Points Open in Infinity Army You have burst 3 AP+DA shots for active and burst 2 EXP shots for reactive, Kornak's MK12 at Burst 4 for short range fights, and the Raktorak can pitch in with a flame template if needed. It's by no means a cheap link, but it's still 30 points less than taking a second sog, not exactly SWC intensive, and brings good range bands all over, templates and a specialist. It would be pretty baller to have access to something like that. And I guess having thought about this and not having it anymore kinda makes me feel sour. However, I do agree with @paraelix that these news could have been handled better and that maybe we will see a rework on Kornak and the Sogs to justify things. Hilarious idea that probably will not be implemented: Sogs are now S6, 3 wounds and have fatality. They're essentially light tags, but not really :D
I really doubt that the Morat rework was considered longer than for a single coffee break. I'd be reallly surprised if there is a hidden master plan other than: "well, just add a wildcard and put an HI in the linelink like we did with Varuna! "
So far it does appear to be token adjustments in ways that nobody asked for and in no way addresses what people wanted it too. I personally think what MAF will see is roughly the cycled out sectorial adjustment. But Morats probably sell good so they will stay but be largely left behind. Unless we get a fun PDF later this year giving scenarios to play out "all the Morats died, look at this new sectorial!" lol.
CA is going to have to take a hit in the story and I've no doubt it will be MAF paying that bill. Though I would be fine with it I think. MAF is a dead design as far as I can tell. They need to he resurrected in a form closer to MO or IA then just the standard forumla.
I have faith the CB at leats put as much thought into the MAF rework as they did any of the others. Any discrepancy will come down to how in-tune CB is with the game and their ability to recognize the issues in the sectorial and correct course in a way that both sticks to the Morat design philosophy and makes them an interesting, viable option
Rumour mill suggests at least a Full Auto L2 profile for the Soggy. If true you'd imagine it'll be the AP HMG which would leave the Feuerbach even further in the shade. I'm not sure it fully justifies removing the Haris either as we know FA doesn't stack and the Kriza Borac is allowed to Haris.
I really don't want full auto on the Sog. I've already made a huge post in another thread about why I don't want it, but the bottom line is I feel full auto on the Sog is an uncreative choice. I would rather have Marksmanship, No Wound Incapacitation, Natural Born Warrior... A lot of stuff I would put on him before I added full auto. But that ship has sailed. Now it's just wait for the update and hope it's better than it looks
It does feel a bit like a quick cop out. Still it's not all bad, Raktorak buffs are nice and a Rodok Haris is super useful.
If the Sogorat does get Full Auto, and provided the profile doesn't get pushed beyond 60-62 points, I think that'd be a significant enough buff that I'd be bringing a Sogorat to act as it's own mini-Haris. Does anyone know if the -3 BS MOD fron FA:L2 stacks with the -3 MOD from Suppression Fire?
