Hey guys, I'm trying to build a 300 pts. list MO for an upcoming SoF tournament. As a core I would like to take Joan Lt, 4 Yuan Yuan, Tech-Bee and 2 WarCors. I'm not sure if I should take the two 12 pt. Bashis. 2 TOFOS sound nice, too. And then? Maybe a Seraph and 2 total reaction REM + x? I'm undecided what else to bring. I want at least one hard hitter to make good use of all those orders but I also like a good defensive when I'm not going first. Any suggestions/ideas?
What are the missions? Perhaps these? * Baconland (from Fat Yuan pack) * Power Pack * Frostbyte * Supremacy * Highly classified SoF tournaments are so rare, you should write for what a tournament it is Think I would go with the Paintrain in the first group and one TO FO in the second group. But to be honest, I'm not a PanO player Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 5 5 2 WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 8) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 8) TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (+1 | 50) DE FERSEN Spitfire / Pistol, Templar CCW (AP + Shock). (2 | 58) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 37) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 33) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER HMG / Pistol, AP CCW. (2 | 41) GROUP 2 2 2 2 SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 8) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (0 | 8) 5 SWC | 297 Points Open in Infinity Army Edit: Why don't you play the smoke MSV2 game with the Order Sargent?
Well, actually I wanted to field this army at Worms ;) Missions stay the same, though. What about the two Bashis? Are they worth it? I'm not a fan of the smoke trick, that's the reason I left MSV2 units out.
If you are running Joan solo, you can place with a single Bashir 3 more of her and you can hide her from the opponent better. Or you use it to fake another unit. Holoprojector is really good if you know what you can do with him. But have not enough experience to say if this can be applied to MO
As a whole this sounds like it might work best as a Vanilla list. You can play it MO themed if you want, but Joan works best when paired with other strong solo pieces she can coordinate with, and the Seraph can't do that (because of auxbot.) I'm also not a fan of putting her in a link for the same reason -- you're removing half of the benefits of inspiring leadership. I would start with PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 1 4 JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 51) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) GROUP 2 5 5 YOJIMBO Contender, Nanopulser, Smoke Grenades, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 21) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 9) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 9) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 9) YUAN YUAN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 9) 2 SWC | 122 Points Open in Infinity Army And then add whichever solo pieces I need depending on the missions. Aquila HMG seems like a really natural fit here with all that smoke. If you decide to play it in MO, I think a defensive OS link and four solo pieces is still the way to go.
I had fun a few months back at a SoF tournament, playing as MO. 17order list Limited Insertion list One of the major things I saw when playing both lists at the tournament was unfamilarity with playstyles. Not knowing what to do with orders when I have too much, or just throwing models at the opponent. While I really enjoyed the 17order list, being a Limited Insert player I had a hard time narrowing down my options. That being said, you can swap McMurrough and get like.. 3 Yuan Yuans worth of models in. Also remember, you have 2 Warcors in Merc, and 1 for MO
Well, you are also not giving Joan the benefit of the full man link. I do honestly follow where you are going with this, and I can see her using that ability more if you are order spamming. Like mentioned in my other reply, I am now playing exclusively Limited Insertion lists, using the 5 man HI links cheerleaders and a couple of tricks. While it can be somewhat predictable for my normal opponents to play against, it leaves little room for a Solo Joan and additional attack pieces. The biggest benefit for having her on the table is honestly the 2 dirty cheap orders she can bring, and moving up any odd specialist you might have on the table along with her.
The thing is, what does Joan contribute to that link that isn't already there? It's just more points in the bucket, there's other things that can do exactly what she does in that link. There's nothing else that can do inspiring leadership. Also it's an SoF list, you're making a huge mistake if you're playing Joan with SoF and taking less than 14-16 orders
You are completely right in regards to Joan in a link. In MO she does however bring you the Full Hospitaller link team. While this might not be better than a mix Hosp/Magister, it can still hold up against a whole lot of challenges. My normal lists consists primarily of: Joan a 5 man Hosp/Magi team 2 cheerleaders (Warcor/Tech bee 2 tricks/extra specialists - This can be Konstantinos, TOFOS, TOMSR, Fus Hacker etc. Stuff like that, you get my point. Considering this, I'm having a hard time using Inspiring Leadership with other attack pieces, mostly because my other attack pieces are within the link, and it'd be somewhat foolish to reveil TO just to use Inspiring. This is all just to say that people pick their priority for what and how to use those abilities. I don't think my use of Joan is less valuable just because I'm not using Inspiring Leadership every turn, I already got a ton of value by having +2 orders for 8 points. That's amazing! But back to this being SoF, I do agree that it's fun using this to get tools we don't normally see in MO, but I'd prefer getting upgraded tools to a playstyle I have mastered, than get a bunch of stuff I don't know how to operate just because "more orders are better" - I'll reference my lists above, where you can see the 17order Joan SoF list I played. I had fun with it, but I didn't perform very well with it in the end, not being familiar with McMurrough and Light Infantry link teams.
Okay, so I went back to my old list, did a bit of soul searching, and made 2 alternative outcomes. One of the main reason I didn't include Yuan Yuans in my original list was due to my limited ability to play with smoke. But, if that's not a question, then removing McMurrough gives you exactly enough points for 4 Yuan Yuans, increasing the order count to 20. - In my original list, I have a Bulletter Spitfire, since I had less smoke to utilize. If you want to use this, then replacing the Bulletter+Palbot with a Spec Order w. Spitfire and MSV will allow you to use the tricks that would normally be meant by comments like "play a different army, if you want smoke and MSV so bad".. - also, you have 2 points to spare, so 2 Yuan Yuans with DA can probably be handy?
Thanks for the input and the list suggestions of far. I already tried some list variants but haven't found my personal sweet spot yet. I still try to figure out what to take in the main combat group and if I should conserve WarCors and Yuan Yuan as cheap orders to fuel the rest or rather sacrifice them as cheap ARO or attack pieces.
