Do Netrod deploy now (in ITS10) like all other AD troopers (no-template) or do they have to use template to jump ?
RAW Netrods have to count as troopers to use AD to begin with. So if Netrods can use AD (which everyone can most likely agree on), they'll do it like a trooper and don't have to use the template for now.
That's the equivalent of arguing that because Mad Traps Boost against Koalas as if they're a Trooper, Koalas must be able to be affected by the Immobilised state. It's shaky ground. Can use AD does not automatically mean can use Assisted Landing. It's plausible that it follows but it's also plausible that their ability to use AD is exceptional, and nothing else sticks. I don't honestly care which way it's solved. But I'd like it to be solved because it's not just Assisted Landing it's also Confused Deployment, Designated Landing Area and Exclusion Zones.
@inane.imp All deployable equipment is subjected to the deployment rules for the scenario, as per deployable equipment's own rules.
Can't find a rules text about that (apart from the FAQ on the page http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/AI_Beacon), but even if this right, why should the ITS10 rule apply during deployment then as well? ;)
Thought that Netrods counted as Equipment not troopers so they didn't benefit from Assisted landing which only affects troops. That said - seems like it would make sense for Netrods to benefit from Assisted landing, if only to clean up the rules and simplify things. No preference either way.
As said by @Teslarod, AD also apply to troopers only so if they can't benefit from assisted landing because not being trooper, they can't deploy using AD
